@MegaWolfgang ehhhhh maybe your right but i am riding on the epicness of Doc created by val kilmer's acting and the actor playing jonny ringo looks apprehensive, his smuggness evaporates when doc says" i'm your huckleberry"
but noted both men were talented with their guns in real life.
this movie is so full of shit it makes me sick, Ringo never led the cowboys at least not like this, he never sent wyatt a duel invitation, he was not killed by doc holiday, holiday was in court in Colorado during the time, doc and wyatt had a falling out weeks before and split up they never met each other again, docs death didn't;t reach wyatt for weeks, and surprise surprise doc is faster than ringo, with no actual, or even factual basis for such, just becasue ringo died first huh, pathetic.
@MAnnaconduit1 why are you even debating a movie that is pure fiction and made for entertainment? Horses, cowboys, guns and shootouts, and some good actors that is all. This is not the history channel or a documentary.
Wyatt Earp wasn't a flop. It just had bad timing following Tombstone. No movie could follow it and do well. What were they thinking? Maybe that Kevin Costner could bring it home? Maybe under a different cloud. Tombstone is a classic.
Charlton Heston is there 'cos the rancher would have to be someone that KR's Wyatt Earp would believably turn to to ask for help. That's ask with respect not demand it. Same reason he played Arnies boss in True Lies: The alpha male in the film plot can't just be "outranked" by anyone.
this film was/is far superior to the Costner one. I dont think it's even close. The combination of Kurt Russell and Val kilmer was much better than Quaid and Costner.
@Valerieannleeh Yes, Charlton Heston in this cameo here is a large actor in a small part, utterly believable and decorous to the role. Great to the end.
I just thought of this...Doc talking about Ringo at 6:15, he must've also been talking about himself? Like he's the exact opposite? I know, 'duh' but I've always got caught up in the movie to care about that....it seems every line Val says is epic...I should get the blue-ray, and see what they said about making the film...so many stars, man!
@hogantmwnn note that in first scene with Ringo he talks of the pale sick horse that will seek vengeance on the cowboys wrongdoings. Doc Holiday is that pale horse and Wyatt Earp is death
Charlton Heston with his horrible, horrible acting is trying really hard to ruin this movie, but I refuse to let him. I like to pretend that this movie doesn't actually have Charlton Heston in it.
Do NOT disrespect the great Doc Holiday with your myface spacebook texting language. Go back to the hole you crawled out of and take a second to think.

Well, looking at it now, it's obvious the clothes don't entirely match (despite the lighting disguise that fooled me before). Plus I noticed how Wyatt Earp wouldn't have held his head down like that as he faced his foe (but that's after watching the film a couple of times and noticing the nuances of the character).
Johnny Ringo and his reckoning...hard to forget Val Kilmer is the only one who could've pullled it off. Wyatt Earp Finally admitting his true feelings....thats something too. I would have to agree it is one of the most quotable movies of all time. two thumbs up for Tombstone

@blaq7427 If this movie is such crap why did it do better than Wyatt Earp with Costner? @Narcoden what does any of that have to do with which movie is better? This is just a matter of opinion. I just don't see how anyone but a moron could like Tombstone. No accounting for taste I guess .
@Narcoden Amen to that, this film has a brilliant script, is well paced, has excellent cinematography, brilliantly casted, acted, the costumes are great, and never once gets boring.
@SuperAnnuatedDoodle I agree 100% this is by far my favorite western, the only reason I posted that is because some troll kept saying "this movie sucks" "this is a b movie" "Wyatt Earp is a lot better" and just typed the facts.. I like Wyatt Earp but Tombstone is way better in every way you described..
@Narcoden agreed. Wyatt Earp was a total flop. That's because Tombstone already came out earlier that year and it was already a major hit. People didn't want to see another Wyatt Earp film when they already had tombstone.
@johnnyfive222 Exactly!!! I like Costner and Quaid but Russell and Kilmer played their part perfect.. I don't think Wyatt Earp is terrible I just like Tombstone a lot better, Tombstone had better actors, and who cares?? nobody..lol
@cncdaddy I guess you do since you cared to comment about it and 52 other people agreed, that was 9 months ago and the reason I said it was because someone said Wyatt Earp was a better movie and I was comparing the facts.. Who cares, well you do!!
Good Movie, but let's face it, without Kimer playing so well, and reading the lines he's given, so very well, it wouldn't be half as good. Kilmer, as they say, "steals the show". You gotta love the educated Southern Gentleman, the earlier exchange of Latin was brilliant, all I got was "in Vino, Veritas" (in wine, truth).
Johnny Ringo never even won a gun fight. He was just a coward with a big mouth and dangerous friends. Don't know why they made him the climax of the movie. Oh well, good fiction villain.
Wyatt did not much chance against Ringo, even though he is almost fearless he doesnt hate life like Ringo... but Doc is a dead man walking, and that the only thing Ringo fears - just my two cents.
man i hate that Ike guy..whenever hes actually in a fight hes a complete bitch. but then when hes back in front of all his cowboy buddies hes mr toughguy. what a little shithead.
@AJSHarkness What? Why would that make me happy? Did I state he was anti-semitic? No. I said he was a bigot. I didn't specify which group he is a racist to. 'At least we know he is not anti-semetic'? Look at what your saying....its as if you have a check list and its O.K that he isn't anti-semitic but he is a racist to other ethnicities.
Although being Jewish isn't an ethnicity, even though it is on CENSUSES as such, that just shows the power that particular religion has in the world.
...Stephen Lang, Michael Biehn, Bill Paxton, Sam Elliott, Val Kilmer, Kurt Russell, Thomas Haden Church, Jason Priestley, Charlton Heston, Joanna Pacula, Billy Zane, Powers Boothe, Dana Delany,
I don't know. Maybe Ringo looks like someone walked over his grave OR . . . he might need to find another change of pants. LOL. I think Doc is the only one he was ever afraid of.
oh and you wanna look things about doc hoilday google his name John Henry Holiday "Doc Holiday" and you should find a bio on him, if not look it up with the movie title tombstone.
doc hoilday, became an expert with a knife and gun because of his sickness he knew he wouldn't be able to stand that will in a fist fight, now the reason why he did gunfighting is still for mostly reasones unknown, alot people say "Doc had one foot in the grave before a fight ever start, its like he enbraved the thought of death" and yes he was a dentist, any other questions about doc hoilday let me know i can answer pretty much all of them.

Charlton Heston's all like, "Ike, you're a pussy, and I'm Charlton Heston." Thus, how Charlton Heston killed the Cowboys.

Probably the most quotable movie ever. My personal favorite:
"My fight's not with you Holiday"
I beg to differ sir. We started a game we never got finish.Play for blood, remember?"
"I was just foolin' about."
" . . . I wasn't."

"Well I got a gun for both of ya's"

oh and you wanna look things about doc hoilday google his name John Henry Holiday "Doc Holiday" and you should find a bio on him, if not look it up with the movie title tombstone.

doc hoilday, became an expert with a knife and gun because of his sickness he knew he wouldn't be able to stand that will in a fist fight, now the reason why he did gunfighting is still for mostly reasones unknown, alot people say "Doc had one foot in the grave before a fight ever start, its like he enbraved the thought of death" and yes he was a dentist, any other questions about doc hoilday let me know i can answer pretty much all of them.
