  • I can't recognize this, because usually traffic moves a lot faster! I WISH my commute was only 4:02

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think I ever watched this video. Interesting; I loved how GA 400 goes underneath those buildings in the beginning!

This song was really catchy, too. Perhaps you should become DJ Jim, too, lol.

  • @FreewayBrent Thanks, I need to re-shoot that. I would do more with the music if I had the time, it's pretty fun.

  • @Freewayjim wish you could go in real-time that how nice it is. Thanks

  • @heathdouglas100 Real time = boring as hell.

  • I love it, Can't wait to move to ATL from expensive ass Florida.....

  • Great video! I laughed at that cop's negative comment. Not really sure how you wouldn't be able to tell that the video was sped up...I mean he could have looked at the other cars. Anyways I had a question, how bad is the commute going northbound from the downtown/midtown area? Is it like 75 where it is only bad going south in the mornings? Or is it just has bad going north as it is going south in the mornings? How about evenings?

  • @FranksterTube Thanks! Some people, LOL. I have a 3.5 mile commute to work so I really don't know how bad things are out there during rush hour.

  • @Freewayjim I love looking at the "King" and "Queen"buildings driving on the GA 400 they are very nice to look at:)

  • I wished we could make it that fast up 400, but we usually have no such luck! Great video and music!

  • @Trailblazer343: Wow, really nice post there, you don't even know me yet you call me a moron, geesh.

Did it ever occur to you that video is sped up 3.5 to 4x normal speed? With the video being sped up as such the lane changes look far more dramatic than they really are.

  • @Trailblazer343 GOD FORBID you work for P.D.

  • @Trailblazer343 lol pig ass nigga. FUCK THE POLICE!.. jk fuck you

  • who the hell would dislike this?????????? haters man im tellin ya! They really are something! anyways, love the music and drive!

  • @patrick560sl: Thanks :)

  • Hey i gotta question. Im goin to Alpharetta for a concert. Is Alpharetta the same as Atlanta or is it another city?

  • It's a suburb, about 15 -20 miles due north of Atlanta.

  • =) oh ok cause i mapquested and it said like 20 minutes away. My family lives in Decatur do you know how far like in minutes how far away that is? (=

  • Same thing from Decatur, 20-25 minutes depending on traffic, GA-400 can be a parking lot during afternoon rush hour.

US-78 East to I-285 North to GA-400 North.

  • @Freewayjim i take marta from the north spring station to art center station everyday, just to avoid 400. i only h ave to go from exit 10(old milton) to the station. and i could go to the m ansell park and ride, but it is impossible to get off that exit.

  • I like the muzik

  • what a reasonable toll...up here in new england its a dollar evertime you get on a major highway

  • BTW, now that I think about it, was GA 400 ever widened north of Windward Pkwy? Remember reading GADOT had planned such a project, but I haven't been to this part of Georgia in so long to know what ever occurred. Thanks to whoever can answer my question!

  • Ooops, I didn't think I was logged out of youtube there, I was actually trying to post this question under my own screenname. Ah well...

  • Awesome. Thanks for all the work you did on the commentary. Good stuff!

  • At least there's only 1 toll. In Orlando and Tampa it seems like there's a toll to get about anywhere.

  • t.o and keri hilson lives in alpharetta

  • Thanks Jim for the GA 400 tour! WOW! That was unusually light traffic. And your custom music is very awesome!

  • Windward Parkway REPRESENT lol

  • you didn't mention the King & Queen buildings at the junction with 285!

  • Much fun! The camera doesn't capture how much topograhy there is, though. And when I lived there in the 80s, on a clear day like this, you could glimpse the front range of the Blue Ridge Mountains when you come over the ridge at Abernathy Road (1:49), and then much better views again by the time you get into Forsyth County.

  • The ATL is a beast! The northern parts are beautiful.

  • What scale is the speed on?

  • Roughly 4x

  • Me and My Mom are moving to Atlanta this summer, any reccmonded places with safe crime rate ?

  • Exit 9 and up on this road, basically way out of the city. But if you can afford it there are some nice, safe places inside I-285. The farther out you go the cheaper it gets.

  • bankhead:)

  • I love Atlanta! It has it all at a good price. I have lived here for 25 years. And the toll, ever since there was one has always been $.50

King and Queen buildings are my fave of the drive they are like guardians of the city, via 400.

What time and day is this? Traffic is very lite.

  • Why is rushhour brutal here? Can't traffic merge onto the I-285? 8 lanes seems pretty okay to me.

  • It's the traffic merging FROM I-285 to GA-400 on one lane ramps that is the problem. The interchange of GA-400 at I-285 is antiquated. Then you just have so much volume on GA-400 North to Alpharetta.

  • @aswchris: Check out some of the traffic cameras on GA 400 during peak hour. I believe parts of the tollway carry in excess of over 200,000 vehicles per day; I'm pretty sure Jim filmed this on a Sunday. :-)

  • Nice music, that's better than I've ever made on Garage Band.

  • Thanks, that was my first crack at it.

  • And thanks for letting me use it as my music on "GRG On BTR". :)

  • Yer welcome :)

  • I really like this song nice job. Nice job on video too.

  • the MARTA station that is passed in this video to the right is not the Sandy Springs station... it's North Springs Station

  • I'm suprised you didn't make your own music for some of your other videos.

  • That's something I'd like to do more of but it can be very time consuming.

  • I agree with Aaron, as I'd love to see you make some more Garage Band music for your videos!

  • I need to do some more Garage Band tunes as the "Copyright Police" have taken down 4 of my videos.

  • They told me that's the only toll plaza in the entire state... 50 cents only? GA is rich!

  • yes thats correct

  • At 1:32 in the video, what's the name of the cool looking black(and a slight bit of white at the top) twin skyscrapers that appear on the right? It's also just northeast of the GA 400/I-285 interchange.

  • I believe the complex is called "Concourse" The buildings are locally referred to "The King & Queen"

  • I see. Thanks for explaining those buildings to me!

  • i pass by those building everyday to work and have no idea what they are called

    lol

  • I'm sure you know how 285 is. and that is pretty much as smooth as traffic is during the day on that highway (I live off exit 7)

  • this is really how fast ppl drive on Ga 400!

  • my old neck of the woods. thanks for the cool video

  • just 1 thing Jim do you live in Union City

  • Jim just make one when you get the time cause I ain't going to Alpharetta/Dahionaga

  • Jim can you please make more vids on GA-400 South and North

  • I'd like to do one of GA-400 south, it's just that I have to drive all the way up there to start it, wanna help with the gas? :)

Seriously, I will try to do that at some point.

  • Wasnt there supposed to be a freeway running from I-675/I-285 to I-285/Ga 400?

  • Yes, you can see the proposed path on many late 1960's, early 1970's road maps.

  • you said you all in a souther video

  • I'm not originally from the south :)

  • What is the name of the song?

  • Well it says Test1 in the credits, I don't really have a title for it, I'm still tweaking it.

  • Nice Video..

  • you just made my day! i loved in ATL 14 years before moving to NYC 9 years ago but make it home twice a year to visit family in Macon, Gainesville and friends in ATL, so I love the drive.........now i'm a little homesick! great music, great video, thanks!

  • Thats not the Sandy Springs MARTA station. Its North Springs

  • Yep, My Bad on that

  • I have a question for ya: What version of Garage Band do you use? I just looked at the site for the program, it seems like a really nice program that maybe at some point, I'll look into getting.

  • I'm using the Garage Band version that comes with iLife '08 (I think it's version 4) The only way you can get it is as part of the iLife Suite (Free with any new Mac)

  • Nice, my commute everyday from Peachtree Dunwoody to Spring St Downtown!

  • Pretty cool music... love the ride.

  • Nicely done fwj

  • Good video, good music. I love riding up GA-400 when I can.

  • Jim, that was the best FreewayJim video production ever!!! :)

    Enjoyed the homemade grooves, dude.

  • Jim, you have another awesome video here...your posts make me love road trips more and more.

  • Another fun video Jim... Music was cool too. When are you coming to Denver?? Would love to see the Mousetrap in high speed!

  • Thanks! I Would love to see Denver and Glenwood Canyon but that's an awful long haul, maybe someday.

  • Excellent video Jim. I wish I could make mine so smooth. My truck suspension wont allow it though...lol The music wants to make me find some platform shoes, sequined bell bottom pants and some Disco balls and hang them from my fan or something....thinking its the late 70's again

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it.

I was looking to create more of an Acid Jazz/Chill sound than a Disco sound, Hmm, back to the drawing board.
