@jayjay67 All of my recording equipment is plugged into a UPS. I have 4 every large UPS units I use them for power conditioning as well as battery backup in case of power failure.
hey man i got the same problem ,i also bought it when it first came out , always had the problem and i actually sent it to akai to get it fixed once but i they didn't do a good job and lately it has gotten worse and i can tell for your video that it's not gonna get any better,did u ever find out what was the problem ? , i assume this video was for the repair company ,were they able to fix it ? any help would be greatly appreciated .thanks
@g0g2012 Nope the machine came back doing the same thing. I have not touched the thing since then.. Don’t know what happened to the quality of products that Akai once made… I guess it’s called being purchased by a company that was never really looked at as being quality. It’s a shame if you want a stable decent product with the Akai name on it the thing has to be from 20 years ago. Good luck because I am still hearing horror stories about units that have recent manufactured dates on them.
got the same problem! Sometimes it doesn't occur for like 3-4 hours playing, suddenly he reboots itself without any reason. No particular handling or something. Just like this video, in idle he can reboot itself.
@ne0tec Well good luck with that.. I have re-installed the OS downgraded the OS.. Sent it out for service they replaced the hard drive and LCD and it is still doing the same thing. It was out for 2 months waiting on the hard drive from Akai. I have owned the Akai MPC 2000, 2000XL and now this MPC 5000. I have purchased many many professional recording items and I must say this might be my worst purchase. I bought it when it 1st came out and I worked through the software bugs but this is a Shame
yo i have that same prob with the 5000. whats going on Akai so much money for somthing that dont work?

reinitialized the OS v2.0 didn't helped either
checked the hdd inside. specs are :
Seagate 7200 rpm, 80 gb
going to try an reflash of the OS version.
