This is a site to behold, gusty winds blowing 2 ft. of fuffy snow to god only knows where. I guess alot of it blows off roofs & against bldgs and doorways that face this bone chilling wind. Horrids if the snow was to whirl around during the height of the rush hour commute...."oh by gosh by golly, it's time for mistle toe and holly"..Ho Ho Ho. I 'm not worried in the least of seeing this scene repeated here in Vancouver Cda, even in part!! Vancouver Cda. is coined Lotusland so believe it!
@Twokids101 Not even close to the Pacific NW... In Washington, Mt. Baker had 1,140 inches (95 feet) in a year. Areas of Alaska average well over 300 inches a season. Duluth's average is 80 inches.
@ianjk Take into consideration that the pacific northwest has lots of mountain ranges to help out with snowfall (air being forced to rise and cool and such). Minnesota's "mountain ranges" aren't even worthy of being called mountains. Minnesota's highest point, Eagle Mountain, is 2,301 feet above sea level, and when one hikes up the "mountain" from the base, he is only gaining 500 feet or so of elevation. Would you call 500 feet a "mountain"? 80 inches is pretty impressive for having no mountains
@Bradhahn14 Did you see Twokis101 post claiming that Duluth gets more snow than anywhere else in the continental US? Even areas of the UP get 2-3 times the snow that we do.
Ugh! I had to drive from Madison Wisconsin to Two Harbors that night. Needless to say, I didnt make it. I went over the "closed" bridge and I will never forget the swirling snow tunnel all the way across. It was pretty amazing.
LOL I love it when people from minnesota and wisconsin come up to upper michigan and realize they get nothing in snow compared to us. This clip makes me chuckle. :D
Aw, that sucks. I'm a cold weather person myself. After college I hope to move to Maine or someplace as cold and as snowy. Lol hopefully global warming doesn't ruin it for me before I can get there.
I went sledding at Chester Bowl that night. Walking home late at night there was a phenomenon taking place called thunder snow in which there was bursts of thunder ringing through the night air. It was very intense.
oh, i remember that blizzard. shoveled for about 5 hours with my dad. and then at marshall school there was a drift leading all the way up onto the roof, so me and some friends went up and jumped into other drifts. fun times.
yeah, my family lives in superior. We had heard of the possibility of both the roads not being plowed in the evening and the bridges being closed. My wife lost her job because she wasn't willing to get trapped in duluth overnight on what would become an obvious forced double (maybe triple) shift.
It took me 3 hours to shovel 10 feet from my door to the street, thanks to the wind I was shoveling a 5 foot tall drift.
I loved in a Development called parkwood in duluth...
about a mile fron piedmont school...
and i moved away from duluth on Febuary 28 which means i just missed it and everyone says it took them along time to get out cars and just get out of thier doors!
I get a kick to see that some viewers of this video are from Brazil, Egypt, and Arabia.

I bet Duluth was wishing for some of that global warming. Lol
Emperorlawson 4 years ago
Lol, not really. Lots of us Duluthians liked it. Especially us students. ;-) We had barely had any snow at all that year since that week.
