Ur thinking that Tamils did not go down the ahimsa route is wrong. They did, for over 25 years before LTTE, in 1977 picked up arms as they could not fathom any further the atrocities carried out by the GOSL. English had heart and hence India obtained freedom but GOSL, though majority following the path of Budhha had no mercy and bulldozed the Tamils.

Maybe the displacement of the Tamils to the South has to do with the army occupation of the North.

Tamil Tigers are fighting for so called "freedom" on ethnic lines, they may be hindu or christian or muslim, the conflict doesnt have religious roots.
And no matter what some tamil tigers may claim fabout past atrocities, terrorism/suicide bombs etc cannot be justified in any civil society. Their violent ways are seen as unfair even in the eyes most Tamils (whether Indian or Lankan). Not all SriLankan Tamils are Tigers; And Tigers dont care for non-Tiger Lankan Tamil civilians

Society does need to intervene, that is human nature to do good. But it is also human nature to want power and greed money. And that is what bad politicians are all about. And when that happens rebellion is born and the west classifies it as terror when they are the causes of the rebellion.
