Indeed, innovation stimulates inertia. That is what one sees everywhere (like in my work environment of Internet networking). But lets not complain about it, lets just accept it and move on;-)
Victor, With all due respect for your pioneering documentary work in Europe, I think you missed Rollin's salient point. He claimed innovation is often crippled (and ignored) by an academic mindset that tends to preserve, protect and defend the status quo. I don't agree anyone is complaining; indeed, from my experience over the past 25 years trying to get archaeologists to investigate anomalous archaeoastronomy, Rollin merely observes their remarkable disinterest based on an institutional dogma.
Hello Scott, I think I fully understand what Rollin says.
I am though adding, IMHO, something important! I just don't want to spend time on people that don't fully grasp it (yet).
Of course being conservative is important (I also tend to be that sometimes), but change is inevitable and ever present (as I also tend to stimulate sometimes).
It's so nice to finally be able to hear and see my third cousin and his fabled (well, in my family) ideas, even posthumously. Thanks for posting.
