  • Hanshi Yamashita speed and technique awsome!!

  • Comment removed

  • I always see Mr. Tadashi Yamashita and his wife at Little Siam Thai Food Restaurant in West Hills San Fernando Valley California.

  • After looking at these guys.. I need to train a little harder!

  • its very good !!

  • you see all exotic martial arts from taekwondo to wushu have something beautiful to show

i sense karate has not but its very effective and by my oponion its ruthlesness and sharp attacks are his beauty

  • @HermesDo The beauty of Karate comes from the almost inhuman efficiency of the art. Their complete knowledge of human anatomy and how to force to certain areas is staggering! Karate isn't light of foot. It is a very grounded art and they use that firm connection to derive their power.

  • This is great stuff. Im almost positive the BBC did a documentaryt on this guy

  • Yes, you can search Higaonna Sensei's name and BBC, he is on youtube

  • Great stuff!!

  • Thanks for the video. My 8yo studies Shorin Ryu and we just had a visit here in South Bend IN today from Sensi Yamashita. I believe he came to test some people for their black belts but while here he taught her class. He was a great teacher and was awesome with the kids. So glad to have met him.

  • Another great video, I train in Wa-Do ryu, but still appreciate greatness, thanks again for giving us these vids

    Domo Arigato

  • Check out my series Chinen-Higaonna at the 75 Long Beach tournament, tape 2 has Hironori Ohtsuka Sensei performing bunkai after Fumio Demura does his demo.

  • Ive been a student of master Tadashi yamashita for 20 years,he is one of the greatest martil artists to have ever lived. His skills are second to none.he did in fact show bruce Lee some nunchukas training around the time of Enter the Dragon. But he is not responsible for what Bruce lee could do.They are probably the 2 greatest, but theie styles are same but different.Theyre philosophies are same but different.

  • Whats the name of the Kobudo Sensei?

    Anyone Know please!!!

  • I believe that his name is Maeshiro (My-ess-shiro) Sensei, 8th dan. But I have lost my Nihongo skills.

  • I enjoyed seeing Senei Higaonna's demostrations.. I am biased toward him :)

  • Then you should check out my other videos of him in the early 70's doing demos at the Long Beach Tourn. w/ Chinen and the tape of the Yoyogi dojo kata. Enjoy!

  • I don't know about shorin ryu politics, but I see Yamashita's demo and I have no doubt He is a master. You can also compare his demo with Higaonna sensei's demo as a means to better understand differences and similarities between goju ryu and shorin ryu. Great video.

  • very nice i LIKE japanese styles over others but mostlikely only because they were the first i took lessons in I just likat ki flow you get when you do move right and the even stance I dono :P

  • Sorry, the first is Higaonna Sensei of Okinawan Goju, then a bo kata from Matayoshi Kobudo, then a demo by Tadashi Yamashita of Shorin Ryu. The stances are not as long as traditional Shotokan.

  • At last!! I finally found a Karate demo that looks this good. The last was very skillful.

  • hanshi tadashi yamashita!

  • lyneatemptingchickk, What in the heck is dating got to do with Martial Arts? Stop spamming!

  • This is good stuff! Thank you NEB.

  • a few bad japanese people in WW2 do not equal the whole of the Japanese people from that time to now...just like jeffrey dahmer...ed gein...and ted bundy do not represent all Americans from their time till today...bad people are everywhere...they are not limited to one culture

  • Amen to that!

  • "a FEW bad Japanese in WW2" very sad times.

  • We can learn a lot from this video. The speed is simply amazing to watch! NEB, thanks for posting great vids.

  • Let's bring the discussion away from politics and back to the video clip. I am sickened by the b.s. over the politics and will block users from here on if it does not stop. It's not free speech on my by videos. I control the videos.

  • The Witch Hunt begins! and many will hang. I just hope you don't hang the wrong person.

  • Sorry to say this but, people are stupid. I know SKC666 and I think they are getting desperate. If they

accused the wrong guy, they better have a good lawyer.

  • Duh! he is a lawyer. They are entitled to their own

conclusion. But the wrong conclusion will cost them big bucks! Assumption is the mother of all f-ups!

  • And further more, Nunchaku is not only from Japan. the Chinese have been using the same farming tools for a long time. It's arrogant in your part to think so. Chinese nunchaku is longer than the Japanese version. All Japanese kobudo weapons have Chinese origin and influenced. You need to dig your history down deep, deeper than Yamashita's version of history.

  • Cont. Changing the subject, I remember when I was practicing Karate, Kobudo is always part of our curriculum and never had to pay extra. The Yamashita system have a what you call a Black Belt Club, a student can not learn Kobudo if they are not a member. Martial arts is already expensive and it should unite not divide the haves and the have not.

  • he did...as i know it master yamashita is on very good terms with many martial artists including the late bruce lee..BRuce was so greatful that master yamashita is even featured in Enter the Dragon...if you watch carefully...he is the one breaking 4x4 on the guy with the scar on his eye in the reel film

  • also...i am in the yamashita system and if you had to pay extra to learn kobudo you were being scammed...i learn many styles INCLUDING yamashita kobayashi karate AND matayoshi kobudo (his adopted system) and i pay no extra...$80 per month for everything...fees that are directly related to master yamashita are his seminars...which i attend twice per year

  • AND...to FURTHER note finally... To say that bruce lee would not learn from a "Japanese" is very racist on your part and incorrect. Bruce lee ALWAYS preached that you should not stick to one style but evolve onto others to become a better martial artist. He trained with many martial artists REGARDLESS of their origin or their style...Nunchaku is an Okinawan Weapon, Bruce learned it from the Okinawan Kobudo Master Yamashita

  • I'm racist? Have you forgotten WW2. My grandparents and my mom barely made it out when they invaded our land. Sorry if I sound racist, if you see the brutality of these people you will might be a racist too. You guys talk about freedom of speech but you block people who have something to say.

  • hey (ED p.c) How's it hanging

  • MY OFFER STILL ON THE TABLE!

  • sounds good

  • Cont. str8ill, Do not always believe what you read or what people say. Tadashi may have practiced with Bruce Lee but I highly doubt that Tadashi teached him.

There is still bad blood between the Chinese and the Japanese and master Lee never forget history. Remember the book called "The Raped Of Nanking". LOL master Lee will never learn from a Japanese and remember, they lost the WW2.

  • master yamashita is the best martial artist alive at this point no doubt in my mind....some one who actually taught...not learned from...but taught bruce lee techniques is absolutely beyond my comprehension on speed

  • str8ill, There is no doubt that sensei Yamashita is the best. But I just don't like the way you twist history, Tadashi never taught Master Lee. He does not need teaching from a Japanese or an Okinawan. The word Shorin means Shaolin and Shaolin came from China. Look at Tadashi's movies, he moves like Master Lee, if anything, he is the one who copied Bruce Lee.

  • NewEnglandBudo, Let's change the subject. Sensei, do you know a man and he call him self O-Sensei Sataki his full name is Michael Sataki. He just open a Go-ju Ryu dojo here in Temecula California. He also has dojos in L.A. Do you know anything about him. I used to practiced Go-ju a long time ago. He does not say much on his web-site. I think he is 8th dan and he is very traditional old style teacher.

  • Anyone who calls himself "O-Sensei" cannot be very legit. My Sensei who has trained over 50 years in Goju only wants to be called Sensei. I will check him out. BTW, He says he is "old school traditional" then he wouldn't use the term "O-Sensei", right?

  • NEB-Right, there is only one person I know who is called by that name and he is the founder of Aikido.

I tried to ask him about his O-sensei title but no reply. Thank you for checking him out.

  • I sent you a PM. They use the term for several deceased Okinawan Sensei. I sent a note off to a senior of the Higa lineage he claims for verification.

  • Thank you very much Sensei on both.

  • Yeah, he's "old style" says that he teaches Bunkai & Kata according to "WKF rules"? That is an interesting combo!

  • NewEnglangBudo. Sir, thank you for allowing us to post our own personal views and opinions. You are truly a great teacher and a awesome host. As for the bad language, I agree with you 100% My God bless you always.

  • There is such a thing as free speech, but please watch your language on my pages... Thanks.

  • Tony, why are you wasting your time with these people. Just be the better man and ignore them. This

is not going to resolve anything. Let them talk S_ _t

    they will burn-out soon.

  • So Im STILL puzzled as to why it is that some of you seem to have this personal grudge against master Yamashita and his schools. Would anyone care to present theyre arguement at all? Cuz on MY end it just sounds like bitter dribble. Anyone?

  • Just some guys getting caught up w/ some political b.s. My Sensei once told me when I was in a similar situation w/ my first teacher "If it wasn't for him, you would not be here!" So true, and I thing that Kim Sensei may see that and some others do not. Enough said!

  • TonyNHolly-No matter how much anyone present their arguments they will not win and you'll just have a back and forth thing going. It's not going to stop. You will have a none and pro Yamashita and that's why

there is so many branch of Shorin-ryu because of the long history in-fighting a long time ago that tore the Shorin ryu system apart. I used dislike Master Yamashita and after reading more about him I understood what he was trying to do.

  • Tony, we have put that thread to bed. Thank you!

  • Life is short and let us try to do good in the time given to us, and if you see something that you do not like or disagree on, try to express it in a positive and constructive manner. JITA KYOEI!

  • PCDental-wise like always!

  • nice guys

  • PCDental1- Ed thank you for being patient with us and I also want to say sorry for all the things we said. I would also like to apologize to Sensei Tadashi Yamashita and I hope you can forgive us. With that said, we are all getting demoted one rank down and suspension for two weeks.

  • I hope that you are not yudansha b/c that is heavy punishment! Perhaps in the future when an old wiser Master Yoda like myself gives you sound advice like knocking it off, perhaps you will listen. "Listen well, I say I to you!" ~Yoda

  • NewEnglandBudo, We all make mistakes and I'm sure you made some yourself. But I still do not like Yamashita Shorin Ryu and I am not going to bad mouth it. I will give a true comments and honest opinion from now on. maybe I will get honest answer from your group.

  • Granted we all makes mistakes and I critique others kata or fighting techniques, etc. that I see on film. But I leave personalities & politics out of it. Those are 2 things that will get you in trouble all the time! I look forward to your friendship though! 8-)

  • NewEnglandBudo, That's true and thank you. You are a good man. I sure learn a good lesson.

  • PCDental1- I would like to formaly extend an apologie for Insulting your Sensei, Tadashi Yamashita and your organization. I am also sorry for disappointing my Sensei. We do not have the right to say what we said.

  • Please accept my humble apologies for my bad comments and bad behavior.

  • I speak for Kenzento1, Zengun8, and SiukendoCrap666.

Mr.Kim, our sensei saw what we are posting in many videos and he was not happy with us. We also like to thank PCDental1 for his patience with us and after many e-mails, we apolagize for all the negative and rude comments we said, and may you find in your heart to fogive us. Sensei kim asked us to re-visit all video post and extend our sincere apologies.

  • Please extend my compliments to Kim Sensei as your written words directly reflect upon him and his teachers. I gently tried to advise you of that on another persons clips. Gambatte! (Press On!)

  • Oh!I forgot to mention that most of what you see are naihanchin applications...

  • Yamashita is like Metallica.Pure talent(s),brought metal music(karate) a step(or two) forward, huge success. Many love them, many hate them. The point is this:They're the best. You should talk to M.Yamashita about his vision, his philoshophy you should train with him some times to see what is watered down(!).Karate is evolving...Itosu evolved it.Funakoshi too.Matsumura also etc...

  • Some people just like peace, flowers, sunshine and let's pat each other on the back. But as soon as you say anything negative or political they get upset and block you. That's what life is all about, Yin & Yang. In America, some worship the black belt and it lost it's true meaning. I also do not like Mr. Yamashita.

  • I read some your opinions of others as well Video. They are really arrogant and rude. You affect as well the personal life to my colleagues. That talks really ill to you as personalities.

  • 07ATF, I know you are upset with Mr. Tadashi and maybe

you have a good damn reason. But you must find a peaceful way to resolve your issues. These Japanese words might help you calm your mind. MUSHIN and JITA-KIYOEI. Good luck and God bless. I am also a member of Yamshita Karate Academy and my name is ED.

  • I agree with 07ATF, but NewEnglandBudo have a point also. There are many ways to express your self with out being too political. I do not like Yamashita personally and what he is doing to karate but that's is just my opinion and thank NEB for letting us express our thoughts.

  • And just what is Master Yamashita "doing" to karate exactly?

  • What are talking about! Are you still reading old postings?

  • All I'm saying NEB if you post a video, be ready for good or bad comments, politcal or non-political. Why do you think there are so many Karate styles out there, because it's mostly political in fighting. But I'm glad that you still believe in free speech. Thank you.

  • I have no problem with negative reviews, But I have seen some of stuff that has been posted. It stinks and if you have a problem with the guy then deal with him. Remember I have the poison pen...err mouse and can remove the comments! ::snicker::

  • tazadecafeconpajila-sensei yama-shit-a the best of the best, I don't think so and his suikendo katas is another money making scams. Goju-ryu ROCKs! and you don't see many different styles of Go-ju. Unlike Shorin-ryu you have kobayashi, shobayashi, matsubayasi, matsumura, orthodox style and water down version of yamashit-a style crap!

  • please keep your political rants off of my video posts. Please PM each other if you have a problem. Thanks.

  • sensei yamashita the best of the best
