this song really brings me back in time, like Proust madeleines... I bought the album as a kid when it came out, it remained on my turntable for weeks... How i loved it...
I recall when I was a teenager in the late nineties I own 7 The Cult t-shirts, one for every single day of the week. These guys were kinda MY BAND because not many people in Barcelona Spain knew about them, so I found myself passing my cds around and converting inmediately everybody. -Actually every single one of my friends, not a single one could resist to the magic of Love/Electric/Sonic Temple and even Ceremony...- What an amazing melody makers these guys were. My hats off.
Reading the lyrics, it's pretty obvious that Ian didn't know what Nirvana (the buddhist state of mind) stood for, but nevertheless the song is so damn GREAT, one of my best 10 rock songs ever.
You know a song it's great when it's straightforward (no key or rhythm changes), yet you let in on repeat in winamp until you think you're gonna get sick of it, which is not going to happen.
I was sixteen when the Love album came out, and whenever my kids menion Nirvana THIS is the Nirvana I think of - pity Rick Rubin ruined The Cult for me really, the Manor Sessions were fucking INCREDIBLE.
I'm 14 and going through a cult phase. Why can't popular music be like this again? Why can't people like any good music anymore? That's not to say that there aren't any good bands nowadays. Joe Bonamassa, Gov't Mule, Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Storyville (reincarnation of SRV's backing band, Double Trouble), Foo Fighters (though they're going downhill, now that they're mainstream), Chris Duarte (I could go on).
The day I first heard this album marks the end of the 80's for me. Anyway, I've always been ambiguous about that, since the 80's was such a better place to be than all the crap that followed.
Freaking brilliant album though, through and through.
@godsownmedicine4you Shame they became enemies... I love Astbury's voice a lot, but his statements about Grohl, Perry Farrell and Eddie Vedder were SO pretentious and idiotic, those made him seem like an asshole.
heard this song for the first time ever today driving home from work in the sunshine, with my window down, after my boss let me leave 4 hours early... and i was still getting paid for those 4 hours i got off at 10$ an hour.
no other song could fit that drive home as perfectly.
The remastering completely fucked up Love, my all time favorite album. They pushed the drums and bass up and pulled the guitar back. On the other hand, remastered Dreamtime turned out at least as good, if not better.

@DontClickAnything What does being a mainstream have to do with the quality of music? Foo Fighters are still kicking ass.
