He has such a nice and warm sense of humor and it's such a shame that he kept it for all those years and instead presented us the iceman he used to be in the 70ies. I wonder if he knows and realised that he's a borderline-personality and that it's part of the illness not to find a way to get through to yourself. He must have been very lonely all those years and lost a lot of friends that tried to help him. I'm so glad for him to see that he's made his own peace with himself. No more characters!
@dlfunky1 yes, but I think there's a difference between jokeing around because the head is so full of drugs or alcohol or because you're clean and yourself and you accept yourself and the way you are. He really wasn't very self-confidence during the 70ies, quite shy and sometimes very strange...I remember this "there's a fly in my milk"-interview! He's also jokeing around there but it just makes me sad.....
@katjasunflower270971 you really consider him as having a borderline personality for creating/becoming certain characters? You read way too much into it mate. I don't think it is that complicated, although I am sure that he, like everyone else, has lonely moments and the normal hubris.
@NoDestinyLive4Now Well, that's just your opinion, dude. I don't think, that it's something which struggles him these days, but defenitely in the past. He's had a lot of selfdestruction in the mid '70ies and, most of all, it's in his songs through these years. All very lonesome characters. But like most borderline-characters he's found some intimate soulfriend at least, he's wiser and gone thru' his 40ies allready. I know I'm not alone with my opinion - besides I know what I'm talking about...
@katjasunflower270971 I'm not so sure that even a professional PhD clinical psychologist can diagnose somebody whom they haven't performed a psych evaluation on personally. I'm just careful about judging from afar. You are entitled to your opinion and I can understand how you arrived to that conclusion of course. You'll find no argument from me there mate. It's all about the music really isn't it?
OMG I so jealous of that woman... on a bed with David Bowie... my fantasy come true.
He's so funny and cool and wonderful and just lurvely. Mmm... I never "met" him but he touched my hand once at one of his concerts in 2004. *sigh* I could have died happy.
fabadabadolicis! lisa's really funny and clever, works well with mark radcliffe on t'radio as too. if anyone's got any mark'n'lard with bowie on R1, or more bowie on Big Breakfast wandering around outside almost aimlessly please share.
