yea think this is better than the original to be honest...especially in the lead vocal part...not mad about the cheesy Hammond organ part in the accompaniment but still luv it...
The original is one of my favorite Beatles songs, but.....I honestly think this version is better. First time I heard it, I got chills. For other Motown Beatles covers, I kinda like Stevie Wonder's take on "Yesterday"
I checked, "The Singer" is not on this album, but "I Don't Want To Do Wrong" is, an interpretation of the classic "One Less Bell To Answer", a beautiful less known song called "One Step Away" and other lesser known gems.
"THE SINGER" is one of my favorite songs, it's on the 1973 "ALL I NEED IS TIME" LP. Soul/Motown. Could someone post that song, I only have it on lp. I miss hearing it, it is a beautiful song.

I just recently heard this version, Why the hell dont the black radiostation's play this, i guess they really lost their soul.

@jurnagin
its almost criminal that they still refer to themselves as urban contemporary/r&b and heaven...they play about the same 89 songs everyday....

@slimbrotherluv I agree
I think Its harder for radiostations to play older songs because of licenseing isuses I heard that somewhere.
