I think Mopoke is a little emo. "Doesn't she like my song?! I think its beautiful. . so sad and mournful" Haha loved this movie so much as a kid I used to watch it then rewind it and watch it again it drove my parents nuts.
I remember this move when I was little and also The Camel boy, the little convict. :) All 3 by the same person. Though I never have been able to find a download of Sarah
MAN, does hearing "In the Pouch..." take me back. Wow. talk about being instantly transported back nearly 30 years.... you know, it really does still have its charm, as crude as the animation is. awesome, thanks for posting
lol the mopoke/owl thingy (soz for the spelling..its clearly wrong!) but he sounds like richmond from the I.T Crowd...played by noel fielding (mighty boosh) englands besssssssssst comedy atm!!
Why does that Kookaburra remind me of an early Steve Irwin type? Though of course Steve would have never eaten a snake.
I've read the book version (written sometime in the 1800s) and indeed the kookaburra eats the snake, and laughs at Dot the whole time, finding her fear and surprise upon waking up to the snake incredibly amusing.
Also there's a big scene where the woodland critters hold a 'trial' against Dot for the 'crimes' people had committed against bush critters.
I remember watching Dot and the Kangaroo. I was five. Now that i'm older I still find time to watch Dot and the Kangaroo on my computer. It would be cool if there was a live action of Dot and the Kangaroo.
If i tried to get in a pouch of a Red Kangaroo id either (A) - Get my head boxed in or (B) Rip the pouch due to over loading lol. I wonder if they can hold 90 Kg
The snake (or one just like it) appears close to the end of this movie.
Kookaburras do eat snakes, so I guess it's no secret what Mr. Kookaburra took that menacing reptile away to do. He did say "I wouldn't dream of biting anyone. Except a snake."
The music playing when Dot's father's searching for her is beautiful. I remember it playing at the end too, so sad. That Kookaburra's Spike Milligan isn't it! I saw him in the cast list at the beginning as a guest voice, that sounded a lot like him.
That Kangaroo could make real mothers jealous (Just like Baloo could make Fathers jealous). In reality mothers can very hurtful & wicked. God I wish we could stay in a dream forever.
Damn that creepy Koala just keeps following them around...

I never quite understood the reasoning behind that noise. Where did that noise originate from?
sw33tness666 3 years ago
It's just a noise that carries well. Australians use it to draw attention to themselves if they're lost in the bush or something.
francinium 3 years ago
It originates back to the Aboriginies.
