  • You can try this with most fruit and It'll work just fine, maybe skip the balsamic.

And yes, frosen fruits are fine, I used to do it all he time.

But I suggest pushing the sauce throught a sieve to get rid of the little seeds.

  • My God I need cheesecake with that sauce NOW!!!

  • Ahhh!!! You got me stuck between this video and the cheesecake video!! Stop recommending them togetherrrr

  • balsamic vinegar is actually pretty common as a strawberry condiment. I've eaten it myself, strawberries, balsamic vinegar and sugar, and it was pretty good.

  • I'm going to do this and add some more strawberries and pour it on top of my cheesecake

  • Does adding orange juice make the strawberry sauce better? Just saw another recipe somewhere, and wanted to know your opinion before I try it out.

  • u must read this. once u started there is no turnind back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murdured in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed hin. if ou do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos in 30 minutes the dead girl will appear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste if you want to be saved

  • "freakishly small wooden spoon"..... Dude, you are so random!!! LoL!!! I love it!!! Not a fan of cheesecake but this video & the other got me headintto the stores to get the ingredients & making it!! Looks yum!!!

  • SO HUNGRY!!! UGH!!!

  • Chef John, I made the strawberry sauce for some cheesecake and it was GREAT! If I want to make a raspberry sauce next time and have a small container of raspberry's would I use the same measurements of sugar/water/cornstarch?

  • Saucy strawberry.. we just had some from Mahabaleshwar..

  • "freakishly small spoon" lol!! my mouth watered

  • Can this be done with frozen strawberries? or even raspberries?

  • Looks great! I'm going to pour this on chocolate and vanilla ice cream when I get around to making it.

  • You're funny : D

  • Just made the sauce but will probably but it on pancakes or waffles this weekend. Yum~

  • @ferminetxe what you said wasn't cruel, but you could double check your spelling. 'Empisphere' is not a word. I believe you are thinking of 'hemisphere'. That's all.

  • Sex in the mouth

  • How do you cut your cheesecake. Mine sticks to the knife and makes it all messy.

  • @xHassassin Dip the knife in hot water before you slice each piece, I work at a cafe and I always have to cut the cheesecake

  • Looks great as always. I think you should make a vindaloo! Thanks!

  • freakishly small wooden spoon FTW!!

  • My eyes Dx

  • WOW YUM!

  • Arrow Root is a much better thickener for fruit sauces as it is not cloudy like corn starch tends to be.

Also, a bit of Gran Mariner is spectacular in a strawberry sauce!!

    Just sayin'! :-)

  • I dont know how is this possible but I CAN SMEEEEL IT! mhhh ;-}

  • omg :3 so hungry...damn you! xD

gonna make this for my sister's birthday thnx for the recipe john :)!

  • a keeper!!!

  • great recipe, wonderful video with great tips all the way through on the edge of your seat full of information on how to make great food! I don't think I ever expressed how I feel about your video's that pretty much sums them all up, yep thats it for sure!

  • Would this also work with raspberries?

  • I have that same fork!

  • Looks great Chef. A perfect addition to the cheese cake recipe.

  • k,l;p'l;,kp'o,l;'ok,lk[asdjk;l

  • i love you videos

  • watching this torture... to my stomach...

    i'm starving now.

  • Chef John isn't overcompensating for anything with that spoon.

  • your videos are wonderful; thanks

  • Make sure you use organic strawberries folks. FMI just google this phrase: strawberry pesticide leaves sour taste

  • @rhettnyedotorg I think this You Tube channel is about recipes, not food phobias.

  • @TheDenisedrake a phobia is an irrational fear. i'd say you have an irrational fear of the truth, or perhaps a phobia of kindness. You go ahead and feel free to put noxious neurotoxins on your porous food, but if you don't mind i'd like to go ahead and point out the half truths and hidden lies of profiteering dickwads who would gamble with the health of their customers. all the same i implore you to avoid any strawberries but organic/unsprayed.

  • Balsamic vinegar and fruit is no big secret. The downside is that it's only good if you use an expensive balsamic vinegar.

  • Sir Chef John has your mom never told to not to play with your food?

  • Can raspberries or blue berries be substituted in this recipe?

  • 5 strawberries disliked this video

  • now theres 6

  • @jlite .. Because they got jealous that the strawberries in this video are so pure

  • @foodwishes wow, you swear!

  • Dude said...."...With my Freakishly small wooden spoon"..lmao.

  • Chef John, what can we use now that strawberries are out of season? Will frozen work?

  • *drool*

  • Wonderful! Bet it would be good with choc cake!

  • Would this work with any other fruits?

  • I'll make it this holiday ,

hey chef john, how long can we keep the sauce in the fridge?

  • The strawberrys here in the UK are shit in the winter

  • 12 HOURS? I DON'T HAVE 12 FUCKIN HOURS.

  • *bravo* on using one of the non-cracked cheesecake slices for your final presentation, you food stylist you. ;^)

  • yes!!!! the freakishly small spoon is back!! haha

  • thanks for this video. balsamic vinegar is an odd ingredient to add, but i trust you. i will give it a ago and see what happens. :)

  • It might sound crazy, John (and all others who are gonna make this) but adding just a bit of freshly cracked really makes a great sauce. Try it.

  • Delicious!!!

  • omg i could almost smell the delicious strawberries in the pan! beautifulll

  • I would drizzle that on a fresh spinach salad with a really skunky onion and a bit of hard cheese, sprinkle on a touch more balsamic... Ok my stomach just started growling at you..

  • Lovely!

  • Not a big strawberry fan. But would this recipe work with cherries?? Meaning still use the balsamic vinegar?

  • @yakyakattack Do it, man.

  • chef john.. can you please make a video about making bread? caramelized blueberry compote bread sounds good!

  • you keep teasing me with your videos!

  • ehhmm.. if I don't have balsamic vinegar can I used something else..?

  • hey what if i don't have corn starch? can i use flour instead?

  • It's been a while since the FREAKISHLY SMALL WOODEN SPOON has made a reappearance.:)

i doubt it, but i bet it is a very, very, very, close second!

keep these recipes coming, love em way too much!!

how about diabetic variety? bet you can't do them?!!

  • I love your videos John. I am curious...other than to "throw people off" why balsamic vinegar?

  • Ahhh I'm hungry now for some cheese cake !!!! I blame u chef John haha

  • such angry top rated comments. The things Chef John's recipe videos do to us...RAAAGE (with hunger)

  • @Puppetopia

A good balsamic vinegar is sweet. If you buy a shitty un-aged version it will be tangy and slightly bitter. Splurge. It's totally worth it.

  • @Puppetopia Don't you ever get tired of being wrong?

  • @foodwishes dont feed it

  • @Puppetopia Dude corn starch has no flavor its thickening agent, like flour but thickens better

  • @SUicIDeXXSilENce yeah u are right when u say cornstarch has no flavour but flour does have raw flour taste to it.

  • @Puppetopia then your strawberry sauce would be as nasty.stop picking your food.eat them whole.. i don't find strawberry cores bitter at all. i dont find whats so wrong with balsamic vinegar and cornstarch doesn't have any taste. it just help thicken your sauce.
