Those 8000hp V8s are top fuellers. Cant be compared to engines that run on other fuels, since the only reason why they make that much horsepower is the fuel they run on. The rx7 on this vid would totally rape a normal V8. And when a 8L Top Fuel Rotary makes its first run, if one ever gets built, thats gonna be over 11000hp running down the strip.

I'm a big rotorhead, but the one problem with the thoughts posted up above about a large displacement rotary, you can't just keep throwing on rotors, you can't make an eccentric shaft strong enough to support it. The ecc shaft from the 4 rotors like the 787b's engine go for something like 10gs. and thats just the shaft.

@IgmarZX This is why americans shouldn't be allowed to own rotaries. As soon as an engine goes they immediately put a fucking V8 in it, so typical.

The RX-7 is a blue blooded rotor. I wouldn't want a LS GM bankrupt made engine in my Rotary eXperiment.

I'd rather deal with the maintenance, very hard tasks like changing the oil every 3000km's, using 98 RON pump fuel and having it tuned, oh and don't forget that pesky oil filter I know you americans aren't used to manual labour.
