Longer wait times, doctor shortages, etc. are a relatively recent phenomenon with regards to Canada's system...it roll-out initially began in the 40's (if I'm not mistaken), so of course it needs to be tweaked & changed with the times -- almost 60 years later. But as I said, we Canadians like it. We even voted the creator of our universal system as the greatest Canadian (Kiefer Sutherland's grandfather; Donald Sutherland's ex-father-in law).
