The story did diverge from the book a bit (mixed in elements of Land of the Black Gold, Secret of the Unicorn, and I think a few others), but it was very good. Respectful to Herge, in my opinion

I just read the book again (it was 5 years ago last time) and a lot of things are different. Haddock and Tintin already have met in the previous stories, who is the bad guy with the beard? A yellow airplane? The desert? A bazooka? Ehm what Secret Of the Unicorn did they read?

It's all about adding a bit of flair to the characters in the language of the country it's being showed in. You want the original names? Watch the French version.

@kutuluu Easy: Because he loves the series. Back the days when Raiders of the Lost Ark came out, it was compared favourably with Tintin, so Spielberg got interested in that Belgian cult comic pretty much nobody in the US had heard of before. Vice versa, Hergé was a big fan of Indiana Jones, too.

I was worried that they would try make this movie more "kid-friendly" . But now that I see that they did NOT cut Haddock's drinking habits ( bottle with whisky at 1:30, dito in comic), that Tintin is carring a gun, and there is shooting and fistfights. I can't wait too see this movie !!!

@MrModicum Ah ok, thank you! No, I only suggested that it was British as I live in the UK.Long time ago I went to this hall place in Norfolk and it has a wonderful collection of Tin Tin stuff. From very old toys to old comics which are worth a lot of money etc. It was a lovely day. So from that, I would of thought that it would of been British!!! But now I can see that the style (in the comics) relate far more to the French! Thank you!
