So all I got out of the anime was that gene was technically trying to play matchmaker, lin has the personality of a plank of wood, Naru is an antisocial bag of beef JERKY, Mai is just average, Bou-chan is a rockster/hippie/monk, John doesn't have an australian accent unless it's in english and then it still sounds fake,The miko is an old overdressed hag, and the other girl, nobody really cares about,HERPDERPHERPDERP*shot*..­.......I kid, I kid. It is a great show and I'm sad it ended. 8P

awww they are so cute together when you think about it the way he teases her is kinds playful and shows that he sorta likes her too...but no apparently the original author doesn't do 'happy endings' and *SPOILER ALERT* decides to match Mai up with his dead twin brother who watches over her in her dreams. I wish they continued the anime further, even an accidental kiss between them would be satisfactory.

@no1zelda i don't think the author wants to do that, i just think that he wants to show a softer side of naru, but also doesn't want the 'cold' naru to be gone, so he thought up a dead twin of him with the friendly personality and since mai is the main character she will only see him in her dreams and he just helps her out. If she'll be with genin, she'll be dating a ghost and that's crazy don't you think? i think that if naru and mai won't come together in the end, then they both remain single

@steeffie888 the author is a woman but I suppose you are right in a way. Naru isn't completely cold anyway when you think about it, he just isn't used to showing his feelings. I think Gene would want what's best for his brother, I think he believes she'll watch over him and make him more human in a way. But the author herself did state she does not do happy endings.

I don't wanna tell u the huge spoiler unless u wanna know... the only thing is when you think about it, did Naru smile for Masako? No. Does he playfully insult anyone but Mai? no for others he is serious or does it very ocassionally. And why would he ask her opinion on his looks and why would he hire her? o.o the answers are there... and looking positive

The end of this AMV was a little abrupt, but it is by far the best one I've seen. Everytime I see Gene, I can't decide whether or not I should pretend its Naru. I ship Mai with Naru despite her dreams of his twin. Dx
