quran is easy to understand becasue Allah himself says in the quran that" we have made quran easy to understand"..quran outlines the broader aspects while these aspects are elaborated by hadith..
@ihatereality94 brother i totally agree with what iswritten in the quran.
my question well it may be easy to understand but my comprehension level is difficult if i can say that.
wat im implying is that y r there so many differences between 1 interpretations, 2 translations of the quran. if it was easy to understand then surely everyone will have1 understanding. wat do u think
arabic is a complete language.. one word of arabic might have several meanings.. the translation done by different translators may also be correct...for example in surah al alq the word alaq is translated as congealed clot of blood by some interpretor and by some it is meant as leech like substance..both the meanings are same at their places..
Are you saying that Zakat is basically the general understanding of Dawah? Is 'paying the prescribed alms' also defined as Zakat? I guess they are both forms of charity...
My understanding of the above verse and the verses that preceed and follow it are in times of fear of being ambushed by the disbelievers, the believers are allowed to shorten their prayer and pray in a group while another stands guard.
The verse implies that the prophet is LEADING his companions in prayer, so if they prostrated, is deducible that the prophet must have prostrated first. Allah does not specify that the second group did not prostrate, but said to the prophet to let them pray
The context of verse seems to be about those people who will not believe no matter what you say to them. Allah says that it is the same whether you warn them or not, they will not believe.
I understand that obeying Allah, whether it be in what we eat, our conduct with others etc are all forms of worship as we are obeying what Allah wants from us.
I am curious brother, how do you pray if you rely solely on the Qur'an for such methodologies?
Hadith were recorded in Prophet's (PBUH) lifetime and compiled and authenticated later after his death. Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim are the two most authentic collections. Methods of Prayer, Fasting, Zakah etc. are in Hadiths. I would recommend you to go to a local mosque to learn about Hadiths and methods of these forms of worship.
I'm generally familiar of what ahadith are and of the works of sahih Bukhari and Muslim. My real aim is to delve in to this via study and learn more about the compilations and authetication of the hadiths.
I have learnt how to pray a little while back, but my concern is adopting a particular practise without sound knowledge of its source. As far as I'm aware, in relation to religious practises, that would be considered Bid'ah
Making sure everything you do is the right thing is a very good approach. I am sending you a message for links on two lectures on Hadiths and Sunnah by Bilal Philips. May Allah guide you to the best practices and protect you from Bid'ah
Indeed it is. It is known as the most beautiful verse of the Qur'an, ayat al-kursi. I found more of this brothers recitations on mounthira . c o m is you are interested, including surah al fatihah. In fact, this is the site where I learnt the surah.
Jazakallah! I just visited the website that u recommended and i thought it was great how u could earn the surah, also the qari has such a nice voice you just feel like hearing it over and over again... may ALLAH reward you in your efforts to help spread knoledge!
26:20 onwards. Please listen to that carefully and tell the non-practicing muslims this please.
It makes you look at it from a totally different perspective.

After consulting several translations it is clear that 'in secret' here better reads as 'though they cannot see Him'.
Just thought I'd clarify that for anyone who may have misinterpreted.

salam alaikum,
I understand your points and as a new revert I am looking to study the authnticity of hadith and how they are compiled and verified.
Can you tell me though how we are supposed to know the method of prayer, paying zakah and fasting etc as they are not detailed in the Quran?
The Prophet (pbuh) no doubt implemented what the Qur'an instructed, i.e. praying, fasting etc. Is recording this a deviation from Allahs book?
Please help me understand this better brother
