It's fantasy, a movie..lighten up. Relationships are a give, give. Love Clint Eastwood movies, wha? They're trying to imply that violent guy movies are more realistic.. going around shooting people everyday, instead of kissing? wow. i mean im not someone who believes the movies and gets all sucked into them, but i do believe that there is a guy who is not a complete asshole out there. you know? romantic comedies are definitely an exxageration but who is to say that there aren't couples with experiences like "when harry met sally"?

I watch romantic chick flicks ALL THE TIME! And I don't think... no I KNOW that the things that happens in the movies will never ever happen to me.

1. I would be happy if i even found a boy I like. Wich i havent.

2. I am the kind of girl who only believes in stuff when I see it in front of my eyes. I've had too many peapole lying to me in my life.

3. I am not stupid.

i can see how this can be true but if you are an intelligent person it shouldn't happen to you. i used to watch romantic comedies non stop as a teen, i never expected to have a relationship like ANY of those movie couples ever. i know how to separate movies from real life, even if you really love the movie its unhealthy to get THAT sucked in

however - using serendipity as an example is sort of laughable. I did not find that movie romantic. The guy who falls in love with the girl who says they might be destined to be together - is already engaged to be married. From the bride to bes perspective this movie is a nightmare.

Girls want to believe all that crap could also be true for them as THEY THINK it is for JLo or Drew, and create frustrations when they realise they'll never live up to those standards. They don't have McConaghey at the side but yours truly.

We just go to the theatre with them to watch arse in or around the screen. What else ;-D

Never seen any of these movie. I like reality. I am also not white, so I can't relate to any of those white people on screen. It is worst if you are non-white watch these so called perfect white people and their lives. Because you might think race might have something to do with you being poor. Either way, movies are not an escape for me. It is torture.

I agree. I've been saying this for a long time. Chick flicks are a "fantasy" and it brainwashes people into thinking that the "perfect somebody" will come along. In the end, the person with their head in the "clouds" gets a reality check. I agree with this video 100%

what about a stereotypically "GUY" movie?

i'm sure there are studies connecting violence in youth to their theatrical heroes on the big screen as well.

as people we just look around for a way to relate ourselves, model ourselves "discover ourselves"

so maybe it's not just the content but the accessibility.

maybe movies are just too big a part of our culture.
