Hey man, im from Brazil and i`m not so good in english yet, let me ask somethings...i have a Roland hd-1 and i want to use it on my shows, LIVE. Is there any way to use EZDRUMMER without an off-board sound card?? I searched it and i found that using ASIO4ALL u can eliminate the lantecy...i`ll buy a MIDI/USB cable today...do u have some tips?? Thank u guy!!
Man, I also have one HD-1 and downloaded all those EZDrummer stuff... I can play with each kit installed, but I have a question for you: Is there some way to program each pad for any drum piece I want? Like in having a double kick drum, or changing the ride cymbal into a crash cymbal... Is it possible? Thanks!
I'm considering buying a Roland HD-1. I will also use EZdrummer.
Can you tell me whether to use Pro Tools, Logic, etc., if you want to use the EZdrummer sounds when you have to play live or is there an interface for EZdrummer, which is enough to run the sound into a mixer?
@dylan3246 Impressive! Hey, I've got EZD with DFH and the HD-1 kit, and i just can't get it to reproduce the ezd sounds. I've got the MIDI to USB cable and set it up and nothing. HOw do i get it to work and how do i assign each pad to its EZD sound?
@dylan3246 You are a good drummer. How does it work with ezdrummer? I'm yet to get the kit. Just wondering if the mapping is automatic for example all that kind of thing. I know about VSTs and activating MIDI controllers in music software etc.
I basically have ecactly the same set up as you , the problem is how do i map the drums so it triggers the right sample? ie when i hit tom 1 it triggers a hi hat or something?
Hi, i also have the Hd-1, EZdrummer and a MIDI to usb cable... And i'm very curious how I can do the same as you: Use the HD-1 WITH EZdrummer, could you(or somebody else) help me with that?
@fallingup190 look it up, EZDrummer by toontrack. I Use the Drumkit from Hell for almost everything i record/produce. imo the best drum sampler in it's price range
i have a hd-1, the only problem i realy have with it is the sounds been unrealistic toa normal drum its very good for starting out i stay up playing it till 3am some nights and neighbours will not complain about the noise at all aslong as you have the amp set to low volume or have head phones :D
Do you know if you can upgrade the cymbals with the Roland chokeable version? I would imagine you can, but I'm not sure if the module would be able to process it or not.
I have to say that hd-1 sounds like a normal kit with EZDrummer. My biggest concern in buying the hd-1 are its pedals. They are too fake. Is there any way you can adjust them, maybe become a little more stiff?
I had the idea of mounting springs under the pedals to kick them back to the resting position faster, like Iron Cobras. I find that higher tempo double-kicks are virtually impossible on these pedals because they simply don't return fast enough to maintain the speed.
@xdiputsm ya there is! theres a video on youtube of a guy doin it, he takes out the springs in the pedal and makes them shorter....seems pretty easy to do!:)
@Abomb520 Don't worry, the HD-1 is the cheapest electronic kit around. Compare it to a 5-piece starter kit.
However, i must point out, the sounds that dylan3246 produces in the video are NOT included with the HD-1. He is using EZdrummer to create the sounds. The original kit sounds way different. Hope this info helped (=
I am rather picky about the position of my floor pedals, but can't find information anywhere regarding the versatility of them on this kit. I am looking to buy for practice in a small apartment, as I have an acoustic kit in my band practice space which is far away. This seems like a good option. How realistic does it feel, and is there any way to adjust the position of the pedals (and the snare/hihat/toms), or are you locked in to one position?
see that in the beginning that shiny thing with orange press those buttons btw we all know u dont have a roland HD-1 because if u have one u know how to get those sounds
nice playing! Sorry to tack on another question but i'm really curious as to how seamless the process of getting the hd-1 to trigger ezdrummer is... new to e-drums and thinking of getting this same setup for a dorm room but a bit hesitant. Thanks so much :)
Well I have had the hd-1 for quite a while now and only just recently found out that you could actually do this so i already had the interface and the drums so i just needed a midi cable and i plugged it in and opened easy drummer and straight away it was working perfectly! no configuring at all
Im over on the Vdrums website and they are making this wayy more complicated than that. So you have a MIDI to USB adapter right into the computer? Do you have any host software or just EZ drummer?
Hello dylan, i've got the hd-1 too, with ez drummer have you got total control of the hi-hat? Can you decide when it has to be close, mid or open? thanks, bye.
Well I dont think you can edit like, if you dont touch the hihat pedal it will sound as if the hi-hat is closed BUT if your recording you can edit the midi and put it so its like closed or open etc.
I'm gonna make you another question, even more noobish..
Is there any way to use the ez drummer libraries on the fly without the fast track (or equivalent)? I mean.. the hd-1, the pc and the midi-usb cable aren't enough to play the good old vintage rock kit of ez drummer or other kits? Am i stuck with the ten hd-1 presets? A long noobish question 'cause i'm not finding answers on the web.. many thanks.
@s3m3ion you can edit your drum map to re-route the input to another sample. there's a section in the ezdrummer documentation on how to create a drum map (which note will trigger which sample). Open your drum map with any program that can edit drum maps (i'm using the editor implemented in cubase). In cubase there's a field called E-Note and one called A-Note. if you edit the a-Note, you change the output, so you can play your double bass kit with a closed ha
how long would the MIDI cable be, i wanna get this kit but my iMac is like on the other side of the room and I wasn't sure whether the cable would reach, my headphones do at least
@dylan3246 its cool man I was just curious to know if it was one of those shitty small ones or nice and long but nvm. Where did you find a mac version of EZdrummer? Or did you pay for it?
When I will leave high school i gonna do another eleventh in USA (i'm french) and i think that i'm gonna live in a very boarding school room and spend a year without drums are impossible to me... so i think i gonna buy this kit, even if the sound ain't good as my real kit. But i need to practice and it's my only solution... Do you think this kit can stand in a very small room ? And do you think they let me have an e-drums in boarding school ?^^
probably, as long as you wear earphones :) also i have a very small bedroom, so i want this kit to fit into a little space aswell. But that is what it's made for, so I'm sure it will be fine
Sounds sick Just the sound I need actually....just got to get EZdrumer and a midi now lol

@dylan3246 you can remove the pedal springs, shorten them and put them back. This will make the pedal feels way better and more real.
