@rodian10...Rob Zombie's versions are not as good as the original films, your right. I've watched both 2 times and personally, I think remake 1 is just ok, but 2 sucks ass. Oh I don't think zombies version was worse or better they were both good ... the original is ... well... it's just more scary that zombies version zombie made the huge mistake of giving a backround to michael myers thats what made him less terrifying this version is way better in that aspect if still is terrifying because he is just simply wants to kill ... OH and born in 1986 and grew up with this version just to clarify
when i went to see h 1 on 2007, i was curious to see how it would compare to carpenter's. just 2 different styles of directors. rob's was certainly more graphic and gory. i'm guessing that's his style. i have never seen any of his movies. carpenter played upon your imagination more with little blood. rob did go into why michael became the psycho he did, which was good.
The sister plot could have been avoided if they had went with the town in chaos plot. The only reason Carpenter wrote the Shes his sister plot was to find a way to get Loomis back to the hospital to rescue her and to explain why he kept stalking her. If he had gone with the chaos plot, Loomis could be beaten up by the towns people and the police would have to take him to the hospital where they discover what is happening. Too explain stalking Laurie, he is psychotic and wont let his prey escape.
I still cringe every time I think of how great this movie could have been if Carpenters heart had been truly invested in the project. They really missed out on the potential to turn the town into complete chaos and they really ruined it with the sister thing. They missed a potential "Sheriff Bracket seeks revenge and goes hunting Michael" sub plot. Missed out on displaying a town in chaos, a town hunting Michael and looking to punish Loomis for "letting him out".
@Leatherbubba To this day that irks me. lol Even Dr. Hoffman in part 4 treated him as if he were some looney quack. It should have been VERY obvious to everyone that Dr. Loomis was NOT at fault for Michael's escape and subsequent mayhem, and never was. He warned them all how dangerous he was and they never listened. I bet years later after all those people killed, they all thought much differently. Yes, Brackett, your daughter is dead but don't blame the good doc. He told you so!

Brackett's understandable grief of having lost his daughter to Michael and wanting to vent it out somehow, and 2. his entire department seemed incapable of spotting him - and ironically the one time they thought it was him, it was Loomis who fucked up, killing the very boy Laurie was interested in. Which leads me to him in the hospital. How come the hospital was so few in staff when they're always quite packed? And how come he went unnoticed?...

But as I said it's sad it took all those years for people in that town to finally wake up. It's simple: if a psychotic murderer in a mask is on the loose in your town and his psychiatrist warns you that he's going to kill, you LISTEN and take action!
the best sequel to ANY film ever.....i used 2 b obsessed with this when i was about 7 and my dad used 2 let me rent it out from the local video store lol...i saw it before the original too which kinda speaks volumes about how quality it is!! x

Did anyone notice the porch lights are on in the opening as the camera zooms in the shot of the Doyle house, and they're off when the kids come out of the house screaming when Dr. Loomis walks up the street. The reason is cause archive footage of the original Halloween in 1978 was used....when Dr. Loomis walks out of the house and sees Michael gone then it's 1981.
My one issue with Michael Myers is the person who played him in this movie. Dude's physique resembles more of an adolescent moreso than a fully grown early 20ish male with scary strength.
@Krazy3912 Actor Dick Warlock played The Shape in this movie, and he was 41 years old when he played Michael Myers..if you ask me they should've gotten Nick Castle as well as the original mask from the first one...good call.

@Leatherbubba Sorry, mystical bogeyman or not he's NOT some phantom. I reckon everyone was so absorbed in their own little worlds to notice his subtle presence. But as I said it's sad it took all those years for people in that town to finally wake up. the best sequel to ANY film ever.....i used 2 b obsessed with this when i was about 7 and my dad used 2 let me rent it out from the local video store lol...i saw it before the original too which kinda speaks volumes about how quality it is!! x

@johnarm01 holy fuck :) finally a person with a brain, I know these "things" nowadays are utter losers aren't they, it wasn't perfect back then by any stretch of the imagination but I would never, ever want to be born in the 80s or onward, the world's gone to the fucking toilet hasn't it, pretty depressing, everything we grew up with was a zillion times better, what's really scary is, they don't even "know" what good music or movies are, I sincerely fear the future :) but it's already happened!

@johnarm01 I'm from the 90's and I like this way better than Rob Zombie's. I love the originals (Except the 3rd one) and I think that Rob Zombie should've left it alone. I sorta like the first remake, but the second was stupid. This one is waaay better to me.

@johnarm01 You don't need to insult an entire generation of people over a movie. Both versions are good, but Rob Zombies version is much scarier. I think Rob Zombie did a phenomenal job with his version of Halloween. You are blowing this way out of proportion.

@johnarm01 well, i actually liked the first 1/3 of the rob zombie remake when he explains the history of michael myers. But it went downhill after that. He used gore more than scare which made it less spooky.

@johnarm01 Amen!! Thank you, someone who appreciates true classic slasher and horror movies. Not this "Paranormal Activity 3" B.S. They should try watching the Exorcist! The creativity to make downtown L.A. look like the heartland of Illinois and the theme music was excellent. Horror movies today suck and its not because I have gotten older and are less prone to be frightened.

Did anyone notice the porch lights are on in the opening as the camera zooms in the shot of the Doyle house, and they're off when the kids come out of the house screaming when Dr. Loomis walks up the street. The reason is cause archive footage of the original Halloween in 1978 was used....when Dr. Loomis walks out of the house and sees Michael gone then it's 1981.

My one issue with Michael Myers is the person who played him in this movie. Dude's physique resembles more of an adolescent moreso than a fully grown early 20ish male with scary strength.
