I was born 20 years after the yes album when this tour was happening and this sounds amazing...gives me chills every time I hear not only this but yes in general...nobody of my friends is listening to this...sad
6:34 Rabin & Howe...2 legendary musical geniuses setting the stage on fire! First time I've seen the 2 get along and collaborate and duet on the same stage for once, and the results are dazzling..wish they could have done this more often as when Rabin and Howe "make peace" with one another in the name of music...they create and artistic masterpiece as is this entire song.
What happened to Bill Bruford & Rick Wakeman? You'd think that they weren't taking part in the concert for the amount of screen time they get. Didn't the video editor like them?
@EragonFiresword I completely agree. Kaye was criminally ignored by the cameramen in this performance, and he was the original keyboardist! He has just as much talent as Rick. He didn't even get to have an extended solo like the 5 or so Wakeman got on this.
@SynthOrgan he was good but definitely not as good as Rick. Kaye was a more traditional keyboardist than Rick. Rick pioneered many of the early concert keyboard techniques, equipment, setups (one of the first to rack up dozens of instruments in concert), and reveled in his unique solos. His style is generally more complex than Kaye's (although I do love Kaye's stuff). Kaye was excellent, but Rick brought a whole new dimension to the band. And I don't know if Kaye even wanted an extended solo...
Back in the day I was posessed to purchase all Yes albums. I didn't know why, as I was too young and uneducated to fully understand why -- yet I chose wisely. A wise choice. A choice not fully understood -- unless one asks the heart.
ive always loved roundabout but ive started listening to alot more yes, there awesome! long distance runaround, starship trooper, yours is no disgrace
Jimmy, your just jealous 'cause you can't hit these notes...btw i'm the father of two, I've been hit these kinda notes fullvoice, unstrained for 56 years now so don't even think of going anywhere nasty with this reply
I remember this tour - saw them at the Oakland Colosseum. When they asked me to sing along for this song (YES me personally - along with thousands of others) I was IN heaven.
Thanks for posting this and bringing back those joyful memories!!!
Y Jon... "dejando el pulmòn" ¡Difícil que se repita alguna otra ocasiòn! (Si no es por lo contractual, por una cuestiòn de avance del tiempo).
steve howe one of the greatest guitarist, plays so well, just masterfully. what talent on this stage, i like both versions or yes, both were progressive in different eras. the old yes has such depth and artistry, the new yes so progressive and powerful, and all of them together, well simply a brilliant group of musicians.
@babybluesnowden I keep expecting somebody to keep prodding Steve Howe with a stick to to see if he is awake or not. He is nothing compared with Trevor. You only have to compare this with 'All Good People' on '9012Live' to see the diference. Great song though.
actually i kinda agree with you. i dont hate yes with rabin but its much better with steve howe
of course, this performance IS with steve howe
i think ALOT of people dont even realize all the classic stuff is played by steve howe, often when discussing yes with people they think trevor rabin is the one that played on fragile, close to the edge, going for the one, etc. they most likely became yes fans in the 80s and never really dug too deeply into their past music
Interesting and clever stage. Everyone gets a good view, the musicians get to bounce around, and it looks like the speakers are tucked away nicely above. What is this, a live performance 20 years after the original recording? Regardless, Anderson sings really well (unlike other aging musicians) and that organ coming in at 4:17 really adds a fullness to the overall sound.
did you actually see it? trevor to professinal to do that proof in the pudding on this song ,through trevor a rejuvenated yes finally got there chance to get a number one hit with material that was mostly written by trevor and chris under the banner of cinema ,jon heard the recordings and realised this was manner from heaven and the rest is history.trevor has paid his dues i wish the old yes diehard fans would appreciate the professsionalism trevor injected into yes ROCK ON TREVOR.
I did enjoy the look that passed between them here. As an all rounder, I enjoy all of Yes. I do think that Steve's better at the Trooper songs but Trevor definitely rules his era. They're two different men with two different styles and I'm pleased to say I like both.

Thank goodness that Rick Wakemen does not play at the beginning of this tune to show off his real talent...the Maracas. Great Show. Saw it twice.

The shot of Rick Wakeman playing maracas is probably the funniest thing I have ever seen. That is the definition of "out of your element".
