I purchased to from Bunnings at $59 each. to all who ask, no power is required and on a still day it spins because the heat is being forced out the ventalators and therefore it spins and creates draw and spins more and then more draw. I have one mounted directly above my loungeroom and bedrrom and cant hear a thing. Tp product.
These devices rotate to pull out hot air in warm months and moist air in cold months. The concept behind wind turbine vents is that the turning blades will help force air out of the attic. Hot air naturally rises, so if attic air is heated above the ambient air temperature a vent will allow the less dense hot air to escape. Ventilation works actively to reduce temperatures by replacing trapped hot air with cooler air from outside.
Can you mention where to find them. I was about to buy something Bunnings was selling for $59 and it doesn't have a fan. And are there different models to suit tiled or tin roofs.
@nay1978miles The hot air in the roof cavity rises and the airflow actually turns the ventilator further aiding the removal of hot air. Their main benefit is that when a slight wind is blowing that would normally reduce the airflow out of a straight tube, the design of the turbine ensures a low pressure area at the top of the vent to draw away the air from within the roof cavity.
After fitting two in my roof the air temperature up there, dropped by about 15 - 20 degrees on hot days
can i connect a motor to it and use it as a wind-turbine?

How much electricity is required to spin it?

@vincevega0
None, either the wind from any direction or hot air rising from the inside makes it spin.

What happens on a still hot day with no wind? Wouldn't it be better to have a static roof ventilator?
