  • I think "Beatle" means: Good, Great and Better !!!!!!! What does "a beatle" mean ? It's too clear !!!! Besides George Martin didn't want Pete for the record sessions because during the audition he observed Pete didn't do well !!! I really feel bad and sad about Pete, but that is life !

  • u cant pull off any live gigs at all....without a rock solid steady drummer, its that simple.ive read again and again best wasnt up to speed.cruel but real.

  • @dempsey981 Exactly

  • Don't get me wrong, I love Ringo. I just think they could've handled his sacking better, like, actually kicked him out themselves.

  • He was cute. Too bad he wasn't up to par.

  • The accurate John Lennon quote says this: "Pete Best was a drummer; Ringo Starr was a Beatle." (Beatles Monthly Book #249, January 1997, page 5) -- Not "good" or "great" or "better" -- just "a drummer."

  • He didnt leave The Beatles he was kicked out because George Martin didnt like his drumming...

  • omg!! Pete was soooo handsome b4!! DREAMY <3

  • pete best mother, offered her basement to the quarry men so they could have a place to play...VIP

  • Any other beatle geeks notice that the footage of the boys on a boat was filmed in amsterdam when allan was talking about hamburg?

  • Ive got a secret...." yea here is Pete best he used to be the drummer in the Beatles but he left"..

The crowd must have been thinking this guy a a fuckin idiot, he sits there like a goon smiling.

Pete mate, you did not leave the band, you got booted out good and proper, Lennon said 'HE WAS ONLY IN THE BAND BECAUSE HE HAD A DRUM KIT, A CAR AND A PLACE FOR THEM TO PRACTICE"

Keep on making bread Pete, i have always said that peter best was always a better baker than he was a drummer

  • Once they got rid of the chimpanzee on the drums they really came into there own

  • @sergeitalos452 I'm not sure it's fair to not like The Beatles because you didn't like John Lennon. They were young, stupid, arrogant kids when they sacked Pete. I'm not a big fan of John Lennon as a person in his early days either, but that doesn't stop me from liking The Beatles, because if their music was amazing. If you judged Oasis by the same criteria then every single person should fricking hate them, because Liam and Noel are way more assholic than John ever was.

  • WOW - just wow. this is why i love the beatles

  • Couldnt they all be together?

Stu and Pete and all others....

  • @Carthsting No they couldn't, because when the Beatles were moving away from Hamburg, Germany for their next gig, Stu chose to stay in Germany with his girl friend, but sadly Stu died at age 21, because of a brain damage. Pete only knew how to play drums, and his drumming was very suckish. So, Pete was replaced by Ringo in 1962.

  • @sacramentolove It was rethorical question, but thanks of reminding me of Backbeat, Birth of Beatles and In his life: John Lennon story all over again lol.

  • @Carthsting Np :)

  • Pete Best was the most cute beatle

  • @timotastic Just listen to the Hamburg and Decca tapes. His drumming was "OK". Nothing more than that. Kicking to the bass drum incesantly is not a great drumming style.

  • @timotastic History tells us all we need to know, pete best tried but failed to have a career in music and the beatles with ringo starr well that tells you it all really...

cant argue with history and petes only place in history is because he was once in the beatles and that was because they needed a drummer and didnt have one.

Lennon has said on many occasions that once they got a decent drummer best was going to get booted out of the band..

ringo was already earning a living as a drummer

  • It's about the music, not looks. The chick fans may have noticed their looks, but that wouldn't mean anything today. It was about music & talent. I'm sure Pete's a nice guy & he was quite handsome. But his drum parts were generic while Ringo's drum parts were clever, original and had that certain fire that matched the other 3. Reminds me of Steve Howe & Rick Wakeman replacing Peter Banks & Tony Kaye in Yes. Actually Tony & Peter were quite good, but not a fit like Steve & Rick.

  • @80sVideoLord Actually Pete got very well along with John but perhaps not with Paul and George. I doubt that Pete said John to piss off.

  • ..(con't) I mean they're such mega-stars that we study them. It looks like it will always be that way. It's fascinating, the story of Pete Best. He was very important to making the Beatles be who they were. Him and Stu - that was the serious Beatles, then. Brian saw the talent - or beleiving in them helped them or evrything. Brian's story is an interesting one, too. Pete and Stu looked like movie stars next to the others. They wereyet to become the superband - but it was in the works.

  • I dunno - I figure it like this; those farkin' Beateles we're smart, or clever or cunning or all of that...Pete, all in all gave the band more looks, whish gave them an edge on the bar scene, but would have changed the whole equation if he could have remained, for friendship or loyalty. I don't think it was as simple as he wouldn't lay Brian, he wasn't a GREAT drummer, maybe he was a good one, but it looks like they decided that they had the talent to be mega-stars but he'd impede that..sad..

  • Billionaires always owe money to poor bastards and never give it to them, that's how they become Billionaires in the first place !!

  • wasnt der sum1 in the quarry men b4 pete

  • second fav next to RIngo!!!

  • i feel so sorry for him, they treated him really bad when they asked him to leave and he seems to be a nice, quiet guy=/

(and i think if he was still with the band all the girls would have fell in love with him rather paul or the others=P)

  • The bearded guy at the start of the video - is that Tony Sheridan?

  • @hauntboy yes it is

  • he didnt "leave" he was kicked the fuck out for being a shit drummer

  • This guy's voice sounds a helluva lot like John Lennon's voice.

  • In 1995, Pete was paid 3 million pound for his recordings on the Anthology catalogue...

  • I just found out there was an original drummer in the Beatles today

  • There wasn't a Beatle drummer until Ringo? That's a load of crap. Pete played with them for 2 long years.....This guy is full of shite. He's taking the piss......

  • @LaFayta Tommy Moore played before Pete and was supposed to be great. I love Pete, he's fine and a sweet guy.

  • @LaFayta

he means pete best never really cut it. He was a terrible drummer, but fit the part as long as he could till they found a real drummer worthy of the name beatle.

  • @altersachse

no pete was never a good drummer, he just had a place they could practice, his mother own a club, and he owned a car, he was with them cause at the time it was a convenience to have him in the band, but the beatles at the time would have taken anyone, they even had a bass player that wasn't that good at the bass. But you work with what you got... that's what they did. Pete was just a temporary thing. I like pete though... he just sucked as a drummer.

  • @JacX1 Utter bollox! Pete Best was considered as a good enough drummer if you ask people who saw the band in Liverpool and Hamburg.

  • @JacX1 Best was worthy of the name Beatle for two years. If he had been in the band two weeks that claim may be valid, truth is they didn't like the fact he had such a strong personality so replaced him with the laid back Ringo Starr as soon as they knew fame was heading their way!

  • I read where Pauls dad bitched him out for getting all the girls attention. I think Paul conspired to get rid of him, jealousy and

John often said that the Beatles were the biggest bastards of all time. They are and will always be the greatest band of all time

  • John used the word Beatle in a nod towards Buddy Hollys band, the Crickets...

  • the beatles were always known as the beatles, but spelt differently, the beetles,beatals,beetles,beetals,..in the end Lennon decided on the Beatles, incorparating the then cool word "beat" in to the name, they were called the silver beatles for a seris of gigs,..but soon resortted back..

  • the Beatles were known as the Beetles and the Silver Beetles originally

  • @jlejra thats right

  • Wow! How unlucky!!!! Such a pity

  • This guy at 1:13, I have heard him make 20 different excuses as to why Pete Best was replaced. He's full of crap.

  • That guy was Allan Williams, the first manager of the Beatles. He's full of hard luck stories, wrote a book "The man who gave The Beatles away"

  • Sorry had to continue this story. When Brian asked Williams whether or not he should sign the Beatles and Williams famously stated: "Brian I wouldn't touch them with a bargee pole!"

  • Great story. In response to thePharoah90086's comment I think when they came back from Hamburg they had a fight with Alan Williams. Williams wanted to get paid and the Beatles had no money because Pete, Paul and George where deported and John and Stuart spent all their money flying back home. I think before Brian Pete and Mona Best booked gigs for them. Brian went to Williams before he signed him to ask about any outstanding contracts which there was none.

  • Ringos self taught drumbeat is unique and brilliant with nuance and far superior to Best. No other drummer could have been the Beatles drummer.

  • I got a book called "Treasures of The Beatles" for Xmas. There's this one bit in it:

"the following week, Martin gave him his chance to play, and was pleasantly surprised. Whilst not as good as a seasoned session man like White (Georde Martins regular session drummer), Ringo was a clear improvement on Pete Best"

  • Classic Story !!! ... John Lennon , ShopLifting a Harmonica !!!

  • Theres no need to feel sorry for Pete anymore, this is not the mid-1960s, he's got over it. He's got a good family life now.

  • maybe We should feel-sorry for Norman Chapman , One of Peter Best's Predecessors !!!

  • lol... however, he was in the band in 1912... Best was fired a month before "love me do" hit the charts, there is a difference.

  • recently , while "surfing" the Web , I came across a Site (don't remember the URL , tho) , where "Somebody" really did Their "HomeWork" , listing ALL of the "Known" Members of the QuarryMen/SilverBeatles/Beatles , in-Addition-to a Couple of OddBall Groups that George or Paul or Pete Best had been a Member-of.

  • poor Pete

  • the beatles are wearing black leather? they look like a punk band. Best really does with his hair. They look like a punk band from 1977.

  • That's Allan Williams their first manager telling the story of their trip to Hamburg.

2:30 The I.O.U. from Paul for 15 quid will be worth more as a collector's item than to be paid off, even with interest.

  • Allan Williams thought they wouldn't make it far so he left them.

  • I've always been led to believe that Alan Williams was still Their Manager when the Group met Brian Epstein ... I've seen (Legal ???) Documents indicating that the (Silver)Beatles were "signed" to William's "Company" , Jacaranda Productions ... does Anyone know if Epstein bought-out That "Contract" from Williams ??? ... or was It a Case of "sorry , Charlie" ???

  • poor pete, I felt bad for him from 0:34...0:58 :(

  • thanks for uploading this

  • joder hte beatles eran 6
