I admire the parents, their fortitude, determination & ingenuity with keeping their children in speaking their native tongue. Many Filams don't speak any Filipino languages despite the efforts of their parents, perhaps the method used here can be effective in keeping Filams in touch with their Filipino roots.
Kids can learn as many languages as you teach them, but if the kids don't learn a language, it is doomed. Three cheers for Tedrudj and his wise parents!

Slippers sounded like "bakiya" in Paiwan. Bakya are wooden clogs in Tagalog. It's a Chinese word :-D
