  • why did you stab it in the eye? if you wanted to quickly kill it stab it a bit above the eye

  • Hi spearfishingsydney I'm a beginner living in the easten suburbs I've shot a few fish biggest a 1.2k bream I want to get somthing bigger and pelagic, how far off the shore did you get that kingyand how close did it get to you

  • Hey great vid mate, I'm starting spearfishing in the Eastern Suburbs and I'd just like to know if you could recommend any good spots worth trying out? Thanks buddy

  • @AlfStrewart, I would start with botany or malabar... visibility is usually bad, but is shallower and the there isn't usually much surf.

    Good luck mate

  • Thats a legal king. Good work mate. I could feel your adrenalin as I've been in that situation myself. Just keep the knife out of the eye for the sake of the sensitives. See you out there.

  • My new guns still got the safety in it and its so easy to bump across so I should take my own advice before my next dive...

We're going out this Thursday, suns out with the southerly dropping down below a meter through to the wknd and a light offshore, have you dived north of sydney much?

My mums spanish and makes a maaaaad paella (when she can be bothered).

Cuttlefish are so good S&P n sweetchilli sauce I dont think I could do em any other way lol

  • @baz0oka, hey man!!! thanks for the comments.

    Paella is the best!!!!!

I always try not to loose too much meat when filleting the fish.

Where do you guys go in North of Sydney,??? I usually go to the eastern suburbs beaches and sometimes to Mosman if the swell is too big.

  • PS: remove ya safety! lol

How devo'd would ya be if they'd just swam off!

You have your rubber off outa the water anyway so no point you using it.

I lined up a king fish id guess around the 7-9kg mark off the south side of the skillion just sitting on the bottom and it took me long enough to figure out the saftey that it got sus of me sitting there fiddling about to swim off...I was shattered :S

  • lol Im writting ya an essay now, but its 1am & im susposed to be doing an actual essay so this is easier ;P

You really found yourself some friends here, jeeeze mate the comments.. talken it up shes got her nose in the air lol 'tasteless black fish' - learn to cook em, 'only good kingfish 1m+' - girl pull your head in. If you were in our club everyone would say the same Im sorry, wheres the comradery and mutual respect. Dnt take em to heart I think your right bout the jealousy.

    Keen for a spear?

  • Yeahh mate, you definitively right about "my new friends", I wanna believe they mean well, however the comments are a bit mean.

Anyway... I never use the safety, however sometimes it goes forward by itself. :( it has happen before and it really sucks!!!!

About the black fish, I agree with u, most people just throw things on the BBQ and don't even know how to fillet fish, make stews, fish cakes...

I use red morwongs / black fish / cuttlefish fish very often for Paellas!!!

  • Hey spearfishingsydney, love the vid...could feel your excitment with getn such an awesome fish. Think youve found yourself some faceless haters here lol anashbear & psedakota clearly either got a gripe or just being *****'s. Legal is 65cm.. & that things as long as ya spear so anyone that knows anything knows that things legal & mate I've shot 62cm kingfish before & ive been diving the Central Coast for 12yrs...why, many reasons, but ultimately cause I thought it was big enough, & I ate it ;P

  • And if it's hard to tell if it is big enough, then DON'T pull the trigger. It's very simple. If you are not sure, don't shoot. Find a bigger one that you can be sure of.

  • Please remove your videos. They are harming our wonderful sport because the display such a blatent lack of care for the rules. Shame on anyone that takes undersized fish. And your skill at humanley dispatching the fish is terrible and sets a very, very pore standard for other new spearfisherman who are looking to learn.

  • @anashbear, wow mate, I think that's too much, just because I didn't managed to put the knife on the head on the first attempt. this kingy was over 5kg, so I don't think that your comment is very fair.

  • U could argue that one was legal, none of the kings in your other videos are. Let the babies grow.

  • @psedakota, I don't really have to argue anything with anybody....

I usually weight them, but not measure with the tape, I think that around 2.5 kg to 3 Kg, is over 65 cm, however is hard to get a feeling of their real weight / length before shooting, when in doubt I aim for the biggest one in the school....

  • @SpearfishingSydney Fisheries dont weigh them, they use a tape. U will have to argue with them sooner or later if you take under size fish. If it is hard to tell if a fish is big enough, dont shoot it. Pretty simple

  • @psedakota, what are you being such an idiot??? I have just seen your channel and you only have a video of a sad squid, a tiny bream and a tasteless blackfish.

Are you jealous or what? Please show me a video of a kingfish where you don't take the shot because you are not sure of the size and then talk.

If you asked me you just don't have the skill...

A piece of advise idiot, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it... don't feel you have to share every single stupid thought you have.

  • @RcaUserNameMine I wasnt bagging his videos, just saying the fish were clearly undersize. And its a rock black fish or more commonly known as a drummer. They are very good eating. The bream was legal and the squid was sad, after a shot my spear up its ass. I only shoot good kingfish, 1m +. Ill put a video of one up soon just for you sweetheart :)

  • @psedakota, you are such a loser.

  • @RcaUserNameMine Appreciate your comments, but please don't insult other users on my videos.

    thanks

  • @SpearfishingSydney nice fish, great footage, I noticed u missed your first shot attempt, because your safety was on...lucky to get another shot. lol

  • @psedakota thanks for your comments, however I would like you to be a bit more respectful, I have offended you, I am sorry, but that's not a excuse not to be respectful to me or other users.

    thanks

  • Man... that's one awesome bloody FISH!!!

  • LOL love the stab at the end

  • Yep... it wouldn't stay still, I think I plunged the knife 3 times in the eye before I managed to get him in the brains.... :)
