He sits out in front of this one hotel in midtown, he plays the harmonica and he's so sweet, I can't help but give him a few dollars everytime I see him.
If you live in Atlanta you don't really need a video to tell you that theres a lot of homeless people here. But you also don't need to interview one to tell that theyre full of shit. Alot of these people can be pretty pushy and sometimes violent and giving them money isn't going to help them at all. They need a place where they can go back to school and MAKE THEIR OWN DAMN MONEY. I don't beleive in handouts. If you want to live nicely, you should be made to work for it.
@ktaristocrat Nicely? Every try to sleep outside for few weeks with unspeakable deep seated unrelenting emotional horror going on inside your brain? Fuck yourself, sir. You have NO IDEA what its like.
@233V I don't think i said shit about me knowing what it was like and I personally never eluded anyone into thinking I did. You apparently didn't read my comment very carefully. I simply stated that people should make their own living rather than live on the streets from handouts and use it to go buy drugs, which is what most of them do. I live in this city and you have no idea how many ridiculous stories I'v been told by some of these people and the violence I have had to put up with from them.
@ktaristocrat You are just another well to do ass hole that thinks its possible to work when you are severely fucked up in the head and need drugs to SURVIVE. None of us wanted that life. It happens from damage to the brain. From deep psychological pain or chemical imbalances that make regular society IMPOSSIBLE TO NAVIGATE. It's the equivalent of screaming in the face of legless people for not winning the high jump. You have no f'n clue what its like to live inside a crippled brain.
@233V So actually yes I do have an idea of what it's like. I deal with these people on a day to day basis. I have nothing against them I just wish there were resources that would help them help themselves rather than creating a nanny state for the homeless. Handouts get nobody anywhere. BTW, it's entirely unnecessary for you to post offensive comments, directed towards perfect strangers online.
@ktaristocrat Conditions on planet earth are offensive. Now go take a hot shower and sleep in your cozy bed and nuzzle up to your sweetie you obtuse cunt.
@233Vhaha well to do, I wish. I'm still in school though so one day yes I will be :) Once again your reading and interpretation skills never cease to amaze me. You are repeatedly taking my comments out of context. BTW, NOBODY NEEDS drugs to survive. There are plenty of FREE rehab services provided across the nation. And it's absolutely not the equivalent. ONCE AGAIN, I want to help these people get back on their feet. Not throw money at them.
@233VSo really, it’s more like helping a legless person realize that they have so many other options to choose from as opposed to trying to accomplish a high jump. Which actually, with today’s technology, I’m sure wouldn’t be an impossible feat. Now again there a few homeless that no longer have the ability to function in society any longer and I think that there should be programs in place to help those individuals survive and live long, healthy, happy lives.
@233VBut the vast majority of people who live on the streets, for instance the man in this video, have more than enough ability to become useful members of society once again. They just need a little help from people like you and me. BUT THEY DON’T NEED MORE MONEY TO GO BUY MORE DRUGS!
@233V Also you speak as though you were once homeless. It seems like you’ve found a way to navigate through normal society again. Why can’t others? Assuming my previous assumption is correct.
that building the first guy talking who lived with sister then lost job, its full of crack addicts. I know someone who lives there and they get social security but would rather live there than pay rent.
i'll bet my last dollar everyone had or has a drug problem i did and when i was homeless in the early 80's all the folks on the street had some type of problem that cause them too loose it all.
I've seen many homeless people in San Francisco, where I have gone on bike rides. I once saw someone sleeping on the stairs to the BART station, many more sleeping on sidewalks and doorways. I nearly became homeless myself on three occasions.
Shirley Franklin, Creflo Dollar, Eddie Long and all the church organizations should do more to assist the homeless with jobs and decent living. Church folks leave church and pass by the homeless. Some church folks and leaders are so fake. They leave church and possibly go eat. They just say a prayer for them...yeah right! Jesus preached against that. But these church folks "think" they know God and he knows them...Wake upmy people and love your brothers and sisters.
I've been close to being homeless many times. I also lived in Atlanta GA up until 1994 when I moved to NC. When I lived in Atlanta I knew a lot of homeless folks. A few even stayed at my house over the years.
Man I feel for people on the streets, but dang, some of them are just lazy. I've walked around in Dallas at night with food. Hundreds of them come flocking. They're all really nice, but some are just there because they're lazy.
Also, there's no excuse to throw trash everywhere in the city.
I have the cure for the Homeless and Refugee problem.
AIRHOMES FOR THE HOMELESS. Hurricane Katrina, this would have been THE answer during this dire situation. Look out Florida, 2006 will have hurricanes more devistating than any in history, you'll see!
I've sent my idea off to many companies and Governments. Bottom line, who the hell cares about the Homeless? I DO - DENNY HAMMERTON.
I'll make a short video and place it on MyTube in the next day or so.
