US pilots have long been overrated. There was only 5 US aces in Vietnam compared to 16 Vietnamese. Since then the US has pretty much fought no one with any air force of note. Are you aware that in 1992 some Su-27s visited an airbase in Virginia and flew off against F-15s - the Russians defeated the Americans whether they were attacking or defending.

The Typhoon, Raptor, Flanker, etc, all possess super-maneuverability, advanced avionics, radar, computers, etc. The differences between them are negligible at best. In addition, strategy, tactics & deployment play a big role too.

In test against F15's and F16's it won as much as 2 vs 12 and after training it ended up being 241 F15s and F16s killed and 2 F22 lost. @AngelXOsaze the F-22 has no-where near the serviceabilty & readiness of the F-16 & F-15 in the US arsenal . The US Navy will have to make do with the 4.5 gen Super Hornet until the JSF is carrier capable so I wouldn't be so snotty. FYI even the basic Mig 29 , in the hands of the Germans at Red Flag gave the Aggressor units a very hard time due to it's agility, and helmet-mounted sighting system which the USAF adopted a few years later .

It slipped seamlessly into service with the USN & USAF, and had the first HUD of any fighter, and was the most accurate fighter-bomber of its day. Now thats what i call value for money

US pilots have long been overrated. There was only 5 US aces in Vietnam compared to 16 Vietnamese. Since then the US has pretty much fought no one with any air force of note. Are you aware that in 1992 some Su-27s visited an airbase in Virginia and flew off against F-15s - the Russians defeated the Americans whether they were attacking or defending.

The Typhoon, Raptor, Flanker, etc, all possess super-maneuverability, advanced avionics, radar, computers, etc. The differences between them are negligible at best. While each plane may have or lack some features that the others do not, the simple fact is that in the end, it really comes down to pilot training & experience. In addition, strategy, tactics & deployment play a big role too.

In test against F15's and F16's it won as much as 2 vs 12 and after training it ended up being 241 F15s and F16s killed and 2 F22 lost. It haven't seen any action yet but neither any next generation Sukhoi's or MiG's.

The US military is ALL volunteer and professional. Russias army has around 300,000. The US over 500,000 with over 500,000 in reserve/nat guard with combat experience. You have to have the soldiers, sailors and airmen behind the weapons in order to use them.

This means about 20 million reserves of suitable military age. The same cannot be said for the US. My" buddy" they are expensive because workforce is.Because parts are made ion over 100 other companies,some even overseas.Than they are shipped,tested,assembled.All that takes a lot of finances but that plane is never gonna be used in combat,ever!It's already assigned for US coast patrol duties,why?Because they (USAF) don't want to lose it as they did 3 F-117A's over Serbia(and against what)or that spy drone over Iran(hacked it was),lol.

1. The F-22A Raptor has lost two planes killing two pilots. Alaska (2010) California (2008)
2. We have NO F-18s in Alaska. (F-18 is a Navy plane)
3. F-22s everywhere are flying except in two bases (Oxygen System).
4. Not everything you hear on the news or youtube means its true. Idiot.

Few F-22's were lost on runways when canopy didn't open.I have been following F-22 crash history ever since it's first test flights!It has killed test and pilots.F-22 in Alaska was escorted by 2 F-18!Australia also has F-18 on land idiot!But they are stationed in naval/land coastal bases!You think they only take off from aircraft carriers,LOL.F-22 is biggest USAF failure,only beaten by F-35.

@BoxyTheSpaceDog First and foremost I am in the USAF myself, I know there was only one canopy malfunction with the F-22. Yes F-18s do take off from ground bases, however there are no F-18s in Alaska unless a fleet is there, also American pilots are trained to fly without using an GPS and only its MAGNETIC compasses (Which never fail). So there is no way a plane would ever get lost.
F-22 has its problems, but your exaggerating it a little too much.

So you are proposing that I should believe in the fact that USAF's most secretive plane went into training or maybe routine flight all on it's own?I clearly know for the fact that he was escorted by 2 planes.Read the reports.It fell(shows the quality)and wasn't found for 5 days and we gotten excuses.Faster than questions in form off"Well,the bad weather is preventing us to reach the wreckage",lol.Who the f... believes in that???It's piece of aluminum junk!

The F-22 lost contact with air traffic control around 7:40 p.m. local time on Nov. 16. The crash site was found 100 mi. north of Anchorage, the USAF says. The aircraft was part of a two-ship formation, “Rocky One” and “Rocky Three.” The mishap flight was “Rocky Three” with “Rocky One” unable to locate the crashed aircraft. The crash site was discovered around 10:15 a.m. local time on November 17.

@BoxyTheSpaceDog One thing people do not understand Rocky One who was memorable Capt. Jeffery Haney was to split off and conduct ACM (Air Combat Maneuvers) against Rocky Two. F-22s fight other F-22s just in case they encounter another stealth fighter (PAK-FA, J-20).
Capt. Jeffery Haney's F-22 OBOGS system failed. Causing him to catch a sever case of hypoxia. While he was passed out, he crashed into the ground.
The F-22 is the first of its kind, there are going to be problems.

@UnkownSoldier117 F-22 is a great plane, but its main issue is cost. You know why Russians never went 100% stealth and even t-50 is not 100%? Because stealth not only relies on to many factors and can be tracked by modern radars, but its also extremely expensive. Effect of that high cost we can see in US economy right now. In the end all wars are decided by the cost effective solutions rather then high tech wonders. Even US themselves are only using good and proven planes up to this date.

@allidsarebusy Like I said, the F-22 is the first of its kind.There will be problems with the plane, it is good they are being discovered now so they don't occur again in the future. We are the only country with the technology and ability to procure and maintain a stealth fighter like this.

Just no other country is willing to spend so much money on it, or to be more correctly has so much money to spend on it. Stealth technology comes from the Russian scientist called Peter Ufimtsev if you didn't knew ;) Look it up. He was adviser in development of many American planes. B2 F22, Now a big group of Russians is working on F35.

@allidsarebusy I know a lot about him, I am also aware that he invented stealth technology. I am also aware that US stole the technology and perfected it. I never onced bashed Russian technology, because it is somewhat impressive. I am just defending the F-22 from physiological arrogant idiots.

@AngelXOsaze the F-22 has no-where near the serviceabilty & readiness of the F-16 & F-15 in the US arsenal . The US Navy will have to make do with the 4.5 gen Super Hornet until the JSF is carrier capable so I wouldn't be so snotty. FYI even the basic Mig 29 , in the hands of the Germans at Red Flag gave the Aggressor units a very hard time due to it's agility, and helmet-mounted sighting system which the USAF adopted a few years later .

@AngelXOsaze The F-22 is a classic example of a concept put on a pedestal , and after 20 years of spiralling costs , the finished item has a host of faults (inc the Intel processors it was fitted with being being obsolete by Y2k) . Compare that with the A-7 Corsair, based on the F-8 Crusader. It slipped seamlessly into service with the USN & USAF, and had the first HUD of any fighter, and was the most accurate fighter-bomber of its day. Now thats what i call value for money
