  • kiss my ass, everyone who loves the GLEE version

  • "Drove my Chevy to the levee". This commercial inspired one of the best known choruses in the world,

  • I got chills! Yay Dinah!

  • 15 people own Fords instead. :-)

  • 15 people dont have a chevrolet

  • The gov't bailed out GM, so they didn't have to fix their problem. They are still on their way out, but the unions have their pensions paid for with tax dollars, so they *think* they will be ok.

  • I love Glee version :) This one is nice too but Glee gave more...energy to the song.

  • the glee version sucked and i liked glee

  • ...she obviasly hasnt been to canada

  • I laughed so hard when Glee did this, brought back so many old memories...

  • @sticksmania Its sad!

  • Like the glee version better....

  • Glee- so epic that they cover commercial jingles. This is such a sweet commerical I love this jingle!

  • @buddflicks I agree, people say this one is better but I like the glee one more

  • Such a great and catchy jingle.

  • better than glee, by far

  • See the usa in your chevrOley

  • Glee cast sings it better

  • The Chevy in the ad is a 1953 model and not a 1952

  • At time 0:40, its a clip of crossing the Mt. Hope Bridge on Route 114 in Bristol, Rhode Island. The steel rivet patterns and light fixtures on the bridge are very distinctive. If you look at the Google Street View of the bridge, you'll see that it looks exactly the same today!

  • i Love Dinah Shore...she was such a cutie :-)

  • Wow-no over editing, maybe no lip synching? Dinah gave it up for her sponsor, and went full throttle-fk Glee!

  • i like more the Glee version !

  • @sticksmania hyndai my ass wrong commercial to make fun of

  • i like this version than the glee cast version

  • This song was written by my Great Uncle Harold Lane who passed away yesterday. GOD BLESS HIM

  • @johnblevins1960 Yes God Bless him. What a catchy tune. Did he get to see the remake on Glee?

  • better than the glee one!!

  • glee version is much better

  • DINAH SHORE CAANTT SING :B

  • Pisses me off to see all these youngsters have no respect for what started this. Yes the Glee version but without this version, the Glee one doesn't exist. This world of teens and younger 20 year olds have no respect for anything classic.

  • @ericvhunter I have respect I am in my early 20s. I actually prefer Classic stuff more. I hope Chevroelt could use her voice onto some modern video and it would make a perfect classic/modern promo for Chevrolet

  • Cool but whats up with that dress??

  • Now Chevy is a government piece of shit!

  • hats if it doesn't break down

  • I like Glee's version better

  • @lasvegasjh Yeah I do too but Would be neat if they used dinah shore voice in that video

  • When America was Great

  • Dinah the Great. Yay!

  • This Is 1953 Chevrolet Jam Handy Promo Film.

  • its obvious that every one here drives a chevy im very glad to see that

  • @SuperJeffrey1 well i drive a gmc but how different are they really? Chevy is AWESOME

  • This became the anthem of Chevrolet for all the the 1950's!

  • Some of you nimrods don't understand TV was really just starting in 1952..(live shows & commercials)...and the people had seen a Chevrolet.....now they just wanted to see Dinah...they had heard her for years on records and radio......so Chevy was giving them what they wanted to start ..then for the next 20 years they showed her and the car.....geeeezzz....

  • I like the Glee version a little more, because theres more energy to it.

But, this is a classic. <3 I wish they made more commercials like this!

  • um..my grandma told me about this, this commercial came on when she was 10, n i don't get this commercial, i'm only 16 but c'mon! the pretty lady most of the time she was just standin there!!! i know this was 1952 but i got bored wtchin this but it's kind of interesting but i was still bored

  • @Hannah4438 Well, you do realize, most of those commercials were done live? :/

  • The Glee version is alot better because they're dancing around n singing around and showing some more attitude in it and it was alot more fun because Sue tellin them they won a chevrolet car and they all got excited but it was part of Sue's evil plan to get rid of the Glee thing n it made alot more sense but it was too funny. Puck:"Thanks alot of Roquel!" Sue:"A pox on ALL OF YOU!" Rachel:"Ah! How is this my fault!?" Brittany:"I was gonna give my car to Charity...Charity's my cat" LOL

  • Thumps up if Glee brought you here becuz it did for me!!!

  • Singing is possible without auto-tune, as you can hear.

  • This is so sweet! I kinda do like it better than the Glee version - and I LOVE the Glee version - though they are very different and I'm not sure they can be compared. This definitely recalls an era. That adorable 50s performance... gah! =D

  • Much better than the Glee version.

  • @Sarawithcats i know right its the best! :D

  • i just saw the glee version and i was deeply offended!!! dinah shore is so amazing and fabulous and glee can nevre top this woderful classic!!!!

i say this becasuse i truly love the 1950's! so sorry if your a glee fan!

  • @themamagoatshow stfu. your a boring person.

  • @ELMiGueLaZo1 and just how is likeing a song make you a boring person you dumb ass!

  • @themamagoatshow um this is a very boring song.. it was nice falling asleep to this song. soooo....

  • @ELMiGueLaZo1 Hahaha! Check out a '59 Chevy Impala, I'm sure you won't be bored then. ;¬)

  • @themamagoatshow Glee's version is better. gtfo of here with your hater bullshit

  • @jpoplover350 i am just stateing my opinion that i like this verson better then glees, and yes i dont like the show glee but you dont need to go all out and attack me so ''gtho'' and watch the gell version you stupid getto bitch!!!!

  • dammit. I wish I lived during the 50's.

  • I love Chevrolet!!!

  • Chevrolet has been all along since 1950?

    OMG I didn't know

    ...

  • was everyone tone deaf in the 50s

  • @Viruspirate just different taste

  • Thank you GLEE and Chevy for bringing this CLASSIC back. Thumbs up if you agree

  • @luvlac64 Chevrolet is one of the sponsors for Glee....

  • Glee version is way better!

  • @robiejoe don't diss Dinah Shore...

  • @SilenceUnion it did me ! GLEE RULZ !

  • This doesn't look like a Chevy Cruze. LOL.

Yes, America is the greatest land and English is our language.

  • So THAT's where the tradition of showing the Rocky Mountains in car commercials began!

  • Shoulda never got rid of my old '65 Corvair... :-(

  • glee did a horrible job doing this commerical over :(

  • @EFK1993

i completely disagree with you, sorry! i had no idea it was a remake of this classic 1952 commercial until a friend mentioned it. dinah shore is great, nobody can deny it, but glee did an excellent, updated version of the song. i kept rewinding my dvr to watch it over and over.

it's your opinion, not being disrespectful! :)

  • "America's the greatest land of all."" Why don't we hear this kind of talk anymore? Even back then, there were other countries with strengths and weaknesses compared to the USA . Now, all we get are political wannabes on AM radio telling us we're going to hell in a hand basket. Screw those people. I have a Chevy and I'm proudly seeing the USA -- even at $3.25 a gallon.

  • My father's had two Chevrolet's in his lifetime. Cool!

  • LOL "Imagines Burt Reynolds as a kid somewhere in Oklahoma watching her on the tube and thinking 'DAMN, she's fine; I'd SO like to get with her someday'". :-)

  • GR8 music video from the 'baby boomer' generation of the 50s 60s when I grew up. Such nostalgia brings tears to my eyes. The Chevrolet dealer in my hometown put a new device (long before computers) under the hood of our new '64 Chevelle. It had a loudspeaker & when I pushed a button under the dash it played the 'melody' only (no words) from this famous AD. I was the only guy in town with this device. "Spot" Saylor was the dealer & lived just across the street with 2 pretty daughters.Remember?

  • Yes, 1953 model Chevrolets. The model years typically began earlier than the calender year. I once owned a 1954 Chevrolet "210" with Powerglide and 2 - tone paint. Sweet running car. I could tell the Chevrolets of this era by their whine in 2nd gear going up the grade in front of my house. That is, until they came out with Powerglide like mine. Still had a distictive exhaust note though.

  • '52? Arent those '53 models?

  • @KapteinOpel yes those are 1953 chevrolets but thay came out in late 1952

  • See the USA in your Chevrolet...and remember kids, fuck the godless commie Russians and keep the coons in their own schools! LOL@1950's

That said, I saw a '58 Bel-Air in a junk yard the other day...if only I had the workspace.

  • The earnestness of her delivery is remarkable. No one could do this today without being laughed off TV. "Does your girlfriend look like me? No, but she could smell like me with Old Spice. I'm on a boat!" hahaa...

  • This song sounds good along with the hum of my Chevy V8 when cruising around in my 72 Monte Carlo.

  • Dinah you are singing the University of South Carolina "Step to the rear" Go Gamecocks

  • Awesome. Great piece of history.

  • I remember this from when I was about 3 or 4 years old. Or maybe the follow-up to it, not real sure. I probably did not know what a Chevrolet was at that young age. But I definitely remember her singing this song on TV.

  • Although Dinah drummed America, Apple Pie and Chevrolet throughout the 1950s, General Motors made certain she was always behind the wheel of a shiny new Cadillac as befitting a star of her magnitude and appeal.

  • Yeah, I'm gonna bring my age up here as if anyone cared. I'm 22 and I'm part of the internet/technology generation but it doesn't speak for who I am or aspire to be as a person. I wish we had this innocence before drugs were in every household, rampant pornography readily available on your phone and people weren't short with each other. Punctuality, communication and care were taught to kids. Not that weren't bad stuff in that era but nowhere near as OUR bad stuff. Ms. Shore was a class act.

  • I wonder what Dinah would think about Sirius sattelite radio, and GPA systems in her Chevrolet?

  • Love it.

  • Damn your ignorant

  • Comment removed

  • I wish that I could go back to 1952, drive a Chevy and have a nice lady like Dinah Shore on my arm. Dinah probably even smells nice and she doesn't have any ugly tattoos either. I wish that we had the same optimism for the future and family values today that we had back then. No ipods, text messaging, cell phones, emails, dvd's, or computers to disrupt day to day living. People actually talked to each other with undivided attention and family was important. I love it when the power goes off!

  • This commercial got Dinah Shore her first show, "The Dinah Shore Chevy Show" in 1953

  • What unbridled optimism and hope for the future. Hard to imagine now.

  • Had to be the introductory spot for the 1953 Chevrolet line, which is pictured in the video.

  • commercialism at it's best!

  • Dinah - nothin' could be finer...

But you are such a whiner!!!!

Hold on to your hats rednecks - if only the Ruskies had got here in 53

See the USA in your T34....

  • Buick was much better.

  • That's the song alright!!!! LOL!!!! This is precious!!!! Thank you so much for posting!!!

  • Short reprise version by chorus featured at the end of "The Way You Want It".

  • What memories. My college car was a 4 year-old Bel Air convertible like the one pictured. WOW!

  • notice how nice it looked without all the smog...

  • I guess she kissed it goodby. How Sad.

  • This ad is fabulous - the nelody, music, and HER DRESS omg. Love the chiffon cape...

  • Actually this the 1953 model....

  • It's no wonder Burt Reynolds fell in love with her!

  • i loved that 52 convertible

  • Would You like to sell or buy this car? Rapair? Make a fan club? Or want to know more about it? Register and discuss about this car in _V6wall com_ ;)

  • I think I'll pull my Bel-Air into the Atlantic-Richfield service station to-day & fill up for 19 cents a gallon and head down Route 66.

  • Yeah,but don't forget you only earn apx 21 bux a week,so save,save.

  • Interesting! How did you know I sell Fuller Brushes to the Venus di Milo appreciation society?!? I spent my twenty one dollar paycheck on caviar and Red Bull.

  • @mellotrongirl add another "1" infront of "19" and you got it!

  • @mellotrongirl

Yes and I'm going for hot rod racing with my greaser buddies, then we'll chat with some pin up girls and go dancing to rockabilly club.

  • They need to clean up the old sound bites and replay them over modern video. Even though this ad is almost 54 years old it is still an effective one. I almost want to go to my Chevy dealer and make a date with the USA.

  • @talis84

    lol

  • @talis84 they could always make into color and put on TV

  • For a decade (1951-'61), Dinah was "the face" of Chevrolet on TV, and she also pitched their autos in local spots as well. Note the 1:32 duration- there was a 30 second "window", at the end, for the local Chevy dealer (or announcer) to deliver their own sales pitch.

  • I never knew all the lyrics to this song. Thanks, RetroRacer13!

  • Great song

  • Gosh she is hot!!! Love the song too, remember it well.

  • Excellent! Well, I'm off to my Chevrolet dealer.

  • Great!
