  • Tiny Hill recorded a version of this. Sounds very similar to this, except with screeching tires sound fx.

  • Who's playing guitar on this? Awesome song; great recording and sound.

  • @SniderScion That's Bill Carson, of Fender fame.

  • I have become fascinated by this song. I heard the Burl Ives version on XM radio about a week ago and thought, "this is incredible!" I love this version now. Thanks for posting!!

  • I tought it was Red Simpson song? being a 78 record I wonder who wrote this classic?

  • It was written by Cal Martin in 1951 or 1952.

  • Not my type of music

  • Heard this while boat camping on a desolate mountain lake in 1984. Standing around a burnned out campfire at 4 a.m. It faded in on some unknown a.m. station and I thought "This is Great".

Also thought I would never hear this again. Thanks!

  • never heard this, and sounded great too! thanx!

  • Love the version!!!

  • What kind of turntable is that, because i have a theros looks kind like it but i was wondering and weres a good play to find needlws that will play 78's beside needle doc.

  • This is a Dual CS-5000 with an Ortofon cartridge. I purchased this in 1988 and at the same time purchased several replacement styli. Haven't had to buy a new stylus (needle) in years. Not sure where to get replacements for Ortofon now.

  • Really good, been looking for this song in this version for ages - so thanks for sharing! :-)
