A true look into who Andre was as a man is exemplified by Robin Wright being brought to tears by the good memories of him; the fact that he's gone. All those that worked with him loved him because he was just a very large, very gentle, caring soul. I'm still sad that Andre died so young, but he's in a better place without the extreme back pain. Who knows, God mighta wanted a bodyguard
There are plenty of bad people, evil people, who do things to harm others, to gain power, and don't do a single kind gesture in their lifetimes, and they live to a ripe age. This man was kind, and gentle, and a wonderful actor who entertained millions, and I doubt would go out of his way to harm another soul. Andre was a man who didn't deserve to die before he was meant. God bless his soul. R.I.P Andre.
The sad part of that guys story with his kids is when people and kids screamed of fear of Andre it really hurt his feelings. His biggest blessing was his biggest curse. I wish I was younger so I could see him again
I knew a guy who saw Aundre wrestle,he was just a spectator staring but Aundre messed with his head by yelling who the fuck are you & the dude was scared he said Aundre casted. A shadow over him,he studdered when he spoke & then Aundre just smiled!
I don't get how Andre's back was so bad. At WM II (right before filming this) he lifted the 235lb Bret Hart clear over his head among other things. And at WM III he bodyslammed the 300lb plus Hulk Hogan two times with ease. But a 100lb women gave him trouble???????? Sounds fishy to me. I'm sure it would have hurt him bad, but I bet he could have lifted her if had to. He probably just chose not to. Maybe just lifting her for all those takes got to him. Who knows.
@zackvanhalen because he had back sugery before the making of this movie, and thats why he was even able to get out of his wrestling schedule to film this movie. He was no doubt in pain due to the surgery and didnt have it in him to do much.
@ianhitman He had surgery before WM III, but not before shooting this movie. I'm fairly certain it was after. He was still wrestling through the early fall of 1986. So in the span of a few months he went from being able to slam 6'7" 350lbs John Studd to not being able to lift a little woman and then back to lifting 300+lbs Hogan with ease. He probably just felt the pain on the set of the movie so much because I doubt he was getting wasted on the set like he did wrestling.
@zackvanhalen Actually, the story is that they did a take with Robin Wright falling into his arms, and he caught her, but he turned white from pain, so they had to hook her up to cables for the next take.
@zackvanhalen erm. wrestling is fake... thats probably why. the "lift" was probably something that gave the appearance of a lift but wasn't to straineous on andre. That kind of wrestling is all an act.
@Melensko I know wrestling is fake. That has nothing to do with anything. He lifted 250lb bret hart over his head and easily slammed 300+lb Hulk Hogan. You can't fake lift someone. Either you do or you don't. The only way you can make it look like you're lifting them is if you're in a movie like this. WWF is not a movie.
It's hard to see guys like Andre go, I wished I had met him once in my life, he just seemed like one of those special people who just had the heart of gold, and was very soft spoken.

Gentle giant. Another good soul that departed way too early.

I miss Andre. He was one of my faves back then, especially his acting in this movie just brings it to life.
