  • I copied this song to a cd, put it on my radio, strapped my radio to my bike and rode around my village while wearing my Great-grand dad's old picklehaub. I made the newspaper.

  • @ProneForAccidents PLEASE tell me that there is some kind of link! :u

  • @VicRattlehead6655 There might be. I'll have to look at my paper's website.

  • @TheCoyote974 Exactly.

  • See the epic classic movie Barry Lyndon by Stanley Kubrick. The story of a young Irish lad who ends up in the Prussian army during the seven years war (1750's) great movie for anyone interested in 18th century European life

  • preusen und oberschlesien für immer!

  • Do we know when this song was written?

  • @unitypunk79

It was written in 1866 by Johann Gottfried Piefke. it was a march dedicated to The Battle of Koniggratz, where the Prussian Army defeated the Austrians and ended the Austro-Prussian War

  • @Drakkmar13

    Thx.

  • whenever I hear this tune, makes me want to go kick some ass!

  • @shitonMOHAMMAD this is just what the music should make the soldiers do ;)

  • Sehr schön. Lang lebe Preußen

  • According to wikipedia, Hitler liked this song to be played at rallies. My uncles served in the Wehrmacht, Kriegsmarine, and Luftwaffe. Before them, my Grandfather was in the Austrian army, his Grandfather was in the Prussian Army. My Father was in the US Army for 30 years. It was a tradition in our family for the men serving in the military. Germany did not become a united country until the 1800s. Until then OstPrussen was a major power in Europe. It was considered an honor to serve long ago.

  • @falkie2007 Indeed it was! I study history and we're told that Friedrich's army was not only the most disciplined in Europe, they were also the most educated. Although Prussian rulers acted like semi-tyrants, they were enlightened indeed. Es lebe Preussen!

  • @falkie2007 so your uncles were nazis, the grandfather was a prussian soldier, your grandpa was an austrian soldier, AND your dad was an american soldier. wow cool. my uncles were just missionaries

  • @JDC160 Fuck off. The Germans aren't nazis.

  • @grendel2900 well i wasnt being mean, and plus i know the difference between germans and nazis. let me help you NAZI, GERMAN, and his uncles were nazis because the wehermact luftwaffe are nazi forces. SO PICK UP A BOOK! AND I SAID IT WAS COOL

  • @JDC160 ...you're an idiot.

  • @grendel2900 thats when idiots like you say cause you couldn't think of anything else to say

  • @JDC160 I simply find you not worth the breath.

  • @JDC160 kids should talk about those themes. it to high for them. :)

  • @falkie2007 good old otto von bismarck :D i have great respect for that man :) he had the balls to unite germany and turn it into a super power! :D one of the best

  • @warbossgrotsmasha23 I'll pit Otto von Hapsburg against Otto von Bismarck anyday. Fuck Prussians.

  • @artvandelayist Bismark was Prussian dumbass

  • @wargames1983 I know.

  • @artvandelayist prussia found decent Germany, dumbass. If you hate Prussians because of the nazi's they have nothing to do with each other, infact the Prussians wanted to rebel and reform a monarchy agine during the third reich. While fucking Austria and Bavaria sat on there asses and sang erika [I am bavarian, so dont start].

  • @SuperTravis898 I didn't say Nazi did I? I hate Prussia, because Austria should have won that war. Prussia was a hun state. Austria was refined.

  • @artvandelayist Austria lost because it didnt have the organization, railroad strength, or the advanced tech. Austria is good for many things, but uniting Germany wasnt one of them. If Austria had won, there is no telling if it would have united the german poeple or not. As for prussia being a hun state, its true Prussia had waged three wars to unite germany, but Prussia was one of the most civilized nations. Most likely more civilized than Austria, would you happen to be Austrian?

  • @SuperTravis898 Yes, half Austrian. US citizen by birth, but I've always wanted to visit.

  • @artvandelayist wasn't prussia founded by some of the knights of the crusades

  • @artvandelayist Dieses Vokabular stammt aus der imperialistischen Zeit. Schauen Sie einmal auf den Kalender.

  • @falkie2007 you must be quite proud, and I see why!

  • According to wikipedia, Hitler liked this song to be played at rallies. My uncles served in the Wehrmacht, Kriegsmarine, and Luftwaffe. • @falkie2007 my uncles grandfather served in prussia

  • @poisonpop666 Your 'Uncles Grandfather'? that would be your Great Grandfather, that is of course if your not telling 'porkey-pie's', which I suspect you are. What did he serve.. drinks?

  • @prunch72 what in the fuck is a porky pie? and again you didnt have to reply ''mr argue on ze internet''

  • @poisonpop666 Porkey-pie = a lie

  • @prunch72 it wasnt a lie i meant to say grandfather because im not that bright up there

  • @poisonpop666 Ok pal, I was just havin' a bit of fun, no harm done. All the best.

  • wath does this mean, kings what ??

    i dont get it ?

  • @GenGeogeSPatton

Königgrätz was a city in the Austrian Empire. In 1866, the Prussians scored a major victory against Austria near there, and this march was written to celebrate it.

  • @GenGeogeSPatton Königgrätz is a Czech city. In Czech it is called "Hradec Králové", meaning "Queen's Town/Castle", because it belonged to Czech/Bohemian queens. On July 3, 1866, brave Austrian and Saxon armies were defeated by more numerous Prussians there. This battle is also known as "Sadowa".

  • @GenGeogeSPatton Sadowa is a nearby village. Its name means "orchard".

  • hello all, high school history teacher here, when i was teaching about the history of Prussia and of the unification of the German Empire under Whilhem I, i decided to show this video, thank you to the person who uploaded it, and though i have many favorite commanders as i am sure you all do, one of mine is Generalfeldmarschall Helmuth von Moltke( i hope i spelt it his rank in german correctly) it saddens me i could not go into greater detail in this subject thank you all

  • @hanno21664

    Just asking,

how much of German history do you teach your class?

  • @VicRattlehead6655 hello friend, thank you for your post, i do not want to bore you, witth the politics in education, which I am sure you nkow there is too much off. BUT in my world history classes, i cover the anicent history, and discuss the germanic runes, culture, tribes and germany in the time of Rome, middle ages Otto the Great and my favorite is Fredrick Barbarossa when i talk about him

i also love the reformation and thirty years war- to continue-

  • to continue, the, reormation, restoration, revolution, I talk about the military during the Napoleonic Era,industrial Europe side of it,Age of Bismark the Franco-Prussian War,and of course both World Wars, however i am given a specific timeline and have to be at the same period as the other teachers so i assign a lot of homework and teach my students to do research if i want to have them really understand a specific time in german history,i wish i had more time for it all but i dont. take care friend

  • just wanted to clarify that when i say i wish i had more time fdor it all i mean i wish i had the time to in greater detail for all that i cover and teach. if i fall behind other teachers, administration always talks to me about cutting more from my agenda. i do hate politics in education i am sure others do too

  • @hanno21664

Nice to know that all these accusations of Americans not learning about the other world are wrong.

Kind of funny though, that we here in Germany aren't even tought some of the things you listed, such as the Germanic Runes and tribes.

At least I cant remember that.

  • thank you my friend for your post.for me the path of Knowledge, started when my grandfather taught me my heritage and told me over and over to always read and study.funny i reread my other posts and found misspellings in a few places, but despite that little problem,i never forgot the teachings of my grandfather.so what i have learned and continue to learn i share with my students never forgot how shoked my students were to learned the monarchies of WWI Europe were related family.take care friend

  • @hanno21664

Makes me really wish that I had known one of my Grandfathers, unfortunally both died before my birth.

    I love History, too.

My former History Teacher was so great, he was pretty old, but had way more energy and exitement than most of the young ones.

And he kinda looked like the Old German Politicians :P

  • otto von bismark and paul von lettow-vorbeck nationals heros of germany and my!

  • Also, that eagle has a Holy Hand Grenade.I hope he counted to3!

  • @Halofan535 Haha! Exactly what I was thinking.

  • @Halofan535 It's not the Holy Hand Grenade, it's the Imperial Globe.

  • One question: Since when does war have rules?

  • My Family came to the USA in 1750 did we miss O yes it take a Germen to kick a Germans but good march thow

  • @mrasia13 stalin caused 60 million deaths, by starwation(?), war and prisoner camps

  • u know where i can getthe MP3 for this?

  • sorry for my comment, i was a drunk idiot when i made it

  • now when you wear any prussian symbols everyone thinks you are a nazi lmao

  • @Prairielander I understand your reasoning, but there is a point where emotion must give way to fact. People (civilians included) die in war. That's just how it is. Now, I'm NOT trying to sound like a sadistic person, but you make sound as if the soldiers did that for no reason. Like they had a choice? They didn't. Also, have you ever heard that saying, "All's fair in love and war"? That applies here.

  • If you have ever noticed, the Russians decided to take this march and use it for the last few Presidential inaugurations in the Kremlin.

  • F*uck hitler for using this song for Nazi Rallies!

  • wonderful video, and wonderful tune =]

  • I march in authentic Prussian battle gear

  • What the FUCK is this with YouTube, every video I come the discussion goes about Hitler again and again. Just listen to this song from 73 years before WWII.

  • @Skullheadhq Hitler's father prob even wasn't born when this superb song was composed.....

  • @Skullheadhq It's called "Godwin's law"

  • I love it. I hum it all the time =D

  • I like to put on my pointy helmet and march around my bedroom.

  • @thedrownedworld I do!.with my old sabre too!!!

  • @thedrownedworld Me too :-)

  • @thedrownedworld Also, i like to put on my bycicle helmet and ride like a Kürassier in her stallion over Postdam...

    jejejeje

Best wishes from Chile, and this is PRUSSIA (like SPARTA!!!!! XD) and Germany NOT NAZI!

  • Ich sach zu all dem nur ens:

    Jegen Democraten helfen nur Soldaten

    - Otto von Bismarck-

  • nicht Bismarck sondern S.M. König Friedrich Wilhelm IV.

  • IT MAKES ME DO THE GOOSESTEP MARCH!

  • lol i'll join ya. ^^

  • It was supposed to protect them from cavalry charges.

  • Reminds me of Indiana Jones and the last Crusade, when Indy gets an autograph from Hitler. This music is related to 19th century PRUSSIA, this is NOT nazi stuff. Of course many pricks associate any german military march with nazis.

  • @deusirae76 Kind of a shame really. This really captures the might of Prussia and in a way foreshadows the role it played in the unification of the Germanic states into Germany. Plus it's a catchy tune. Lol.

  • @deusirae76 they did use it though

  • @death347 The nazis used Beethoven and Wagner as official art as well ...

  • @deusirae76 They play it in the 7 years war so it's 18th century i think.

  • @vodanh No, it's 19th century. It was composed after the battle of Königgratz (or Sadowa) in 1866.

  • @deusirae76 but you do have to agree that this song does best fit the nazi party i would find this honourable to have 100,000 nazis marching through my country to this theme

  • @reggaeambassadorful I don't. It fits any German military parade, but certainly not the paramilitary ones with brainwashed people wearing brownshirts and raising their arm to the worst criminal the world has ever known. My grandparents saw them invade and annex their land to the 3rd Reich. They were forced to fight for the nazis and almost died in Russia, it was the worst part of their life. They didn't see any honourable thing to what the Nazis made of their land. I share their opinion.

  • @deusirae76 As i say and is very true, The nazis werent Germany, the nazis took over germany. In most books it says that as well

  • @reggaeambassadorful I'm fond of German history and culture, but I think that any person who speaks of the nazis (or what they did) in a positive way is a douchebag.

  • @reggaeambassadorful itd be more proud if the soviet national anthem was playing in russia cuz theirs sounds so fucking proud

  • @GoldenBullet65

Do not disrespect the Russians. Or anyone for that matter. While I agree that this one is more awesome, no need to be rude.

    Anyway, I love this song.

  • @deusirae76 No it's related to Hitler because of the fact he liked it, which is really gay, because once Hitler likes something, everyone has to hate it...

  • @sirrington I didn't say it was not related to this prick, I said it was not composed by one of his brainwashed followers.

  • @deusirae76 Oh I understand

  • @deusirae76 Some countries in South America (I think Peru) use this piece for their marches, as well.

  • @tflehto It's actually Chile. They have strong German influence in their military structture. Some marches are nearly identical.

  • @tflehto I know Chile does, it's because at the start of WWI, every officer in the Cilean army was a German. Germany trained tons of Chilean soldiers, so they march to both this and Pruessens gloria.

  • @deusirae76

the nazis were the leaders of germany, WW2 was fought by germans, let's not dissociate the two. It's cruel I know.

  • @zacharymullin my granddad fought in the German army but he never agreed with the nazis' foolish ideas. So I suggest you to shut up, because you're insulting him.

  • @deusirae76

whether or not he agreed is irelevant, if he fought in the war in any service that took it's orders from Berlin he was a part of the nazi war machine, his involvment allowed the nazis enough time to slaughter 6 million people. I am not saying he is a bad guy, I am saying it is not something to be proud of. My great grandfather was executed for being part of the commando raiders to helped save mother England from falling to Nazi tyranny.

  • @zacharymullin Never heard of the Malgré-nous? I suggest you to look at the artice on wikipedia. His whole family was threatened to be sent in a concentration camp because he didn't want to join the Wehrmacht.

  • @zacharymullin It was nothing to be proud of, but nothing to be ashamed of anyway.

  • @zacharymullin

cool down USA is now full of "butcher" heroes ! Take some history lessons outside corrupt USA system ! USA where to start ? Paul Tibbets by his own hand killed thousands, an is called hero ! You are completely brainwashed, and if you are so on on human rights and genocides all european countries and US made that so What's the point focusing on jewish victims ? Crappy Hollywood moral.

  • @EDDGC germans today and the german state today hold no responsibility for this. But I wont just go and say the grandfather who served can get off scot free. Hell, Im sure if I went back in history I would find members of my family tree who were part of the barbaric and cruel campaign in the boer war. Though in their defense, it was not their intent to kill huge numbers of people when they built concentration camps. Also, why bring up america, I am not american.

Was darauf folgte, ist bekannt.

  • @grandmontagne1

that treaty taught us one thing, kicking a nation down, and blaming them for a war they did not expect or want pisses said nation's citizens off for long time. Germany did not want war, that said, the Kaiser shouldn't have given the Hapsburg's a blank check regarding Serbia. A man whose son and daughter in law were barbarically murdered is not inclined to think rationally and fairly.

  • @zacharymullin

"Germany did not want war" is far too ambiguous a judgement imho; the German people certainly did not want war ;as much as any other nation- the state and the military (almost one entity) craved for war- just like every other European power.

Witness the immense arms race of the early 1900's and the outlandish military strategems 'guaranteed' all of them virtually claimed, to grant victory in mere weeks.

War was inevitable. I'm surprised it didn't come in 1905,1911 or 1912.

  • @HerrFitztastic none of the national leaders wanted war, they just did not want to appear weak moreso. Only the Hapsburg's wanted war, and they only wanted a little one.

  • @zacharymullin

I beg to differ; the Kaiser and some of the radicals in the Kaiserheer argued for a 'preventative' war against Cousin Nicky in the east as early as 1908.

The R.N admiralty saw the expansion of Scapa Flow's fleet garrison with the new dreadnought-class battleships as a means of keeping in check the Kaiserliche Nordseeflotte's expansion in the "imminent eventuality of an outbreak of naval hostilities"

  • @HerrFitztastic Well, i have to say ... look at the history books. The fact is, that whole europe was in political tension. Many interests, if rational or irrational, where in conflict. At the beginning nearly every power in europe was nearly glad to have a war. But as history shows us it was horrible. For every political party. You can make a connection from nearly every conflict in the 20th century to the 1st WW.

But it#s history. Let's all not argue but learn about/from it.
