I was in the house in 1987 when Aprile sang Liu. That singing, and also Jessye Norman's in Ariadne, were the most powerful musical experiences I had in my life.
Fantastic singing here and yes Ponselle Lover it does the same for me, hypnotic it is that great. You need to hear her in house as I have and you will not forget it and I remember and know what I heard. Brava!

Impossible to listen a better "Liù". I totally agree with "MusicaParola", specially when says: "una colonna di suono senza parallelo, eccetuando forse la Muzio e la Ponselle" and also "Non c´è mimica ne imitazione, ma una continuazione di una tradizione la quale, purtroppo, non esiste oggi". I could had said it better. Bravíssima, Aprile, you are the greatest!!!
Non si può evitare il vincolo fra questa grande artista e l'incomparabile Tebaldi in questo ruolo (particolarmente la Liù di Tebaldi, registrazione del 1959 con Nilsson e Björling). Entrambe possiedono una colonna di suono senza parallelo, eccetuando forse la Muzio e la Ponselle. Aprile Millo ha una voce di una purezza e di uno splendore inimitabili. Non c'è mimica ne imitazione, ma una continuazione di una tradizione la quale, purtroppo, non esiste oggi.

there is no other voice color better in the soprano world than APRILE'S voice color.....
and then we can talk of course for the high level interpretation.
She was and still is a devoted DIVA.

Millo is the only soprano that made me feel, while hearing her in the house, I was back to the 20s, right in the Golden Age of opera.

One of the great singers of our time and shamefully under recognized in her own country.
Milanov said it clearly: When asked how she developed her beautiful pianissimi, she replied "You have to be born with it"
Aprile Millo was born with it.

I was at this particular performance. It was breathtaking because both of them, Gwyneth and Aprile sang like that was no tomorrow! Beautiful!
