you do know a 305 is the same as a 350 just a smaller bore right? a 305 will last just as long as any 350, mine has 200k and runs perfect, burns no oil and doesn't leak at all, except my original rad hoses a tiny bit

same bore, smaller stroke. your right about the same block tho. i've also had 305's and 350's go over 200k and not burn a drop of oil. good relible engines. too bad everyone rags on the poor old 305 because its not a "powerfull" 350, i say give me either and call it a day! lol

@ignacioindustrial maybe not the potential of the 350 but way better than the 4.3 of any other little V6, until Ford and Chevy's V6's for the Mustang and Camaro came out, V6's couldn't touch V8's, but the LS engines are still the shit as far as potential, you can do the same to an LS as you can to a V6 or small block and make more power

actually they both have a 3.48 inch stroke but the 305 has a 3.736 inch bore while the 350 has a 4 inch bore, so bore out a 305 and you'll get a 350, but i'm not sure how interchangable they are, water jackets might be in different spots and other differences due to the different bore sizes

@snakesonaplane2 ya cant bore out a 305 to a 350, they dident make the cylinder walls thick enough, but ya can stroke it to almost a 350, and ell the parts are interchangeable, everything on a 350 will go on a 305, all the small blocks are the same lol, just bigger bores

@snakesonaplane2 thats why people call the 305 mouse motors cause the small bore and you can bore em out but only 30 over and put bigger valves in em to match it all up with a good cam slap a 4 speed on it and then they make as good as power as a 350 and good fuel economy as well
