  • Stand Up Classical Guitar from a Stand Up Guy! Thanks for taking the time to show us this John, I've been toying with the idea of doing all my CG playing standing up for some time now as too much sitting in the classical position seems to be hurting my back and posture and is actually taking some enjoyment out of playing the instrument. This looks like the ultimate solution. Will be sending you an email with a few questions, hope you don't mind. Cheers, Rob

  • That was a really helpful, informative review. Many thanks.

  • Where Can I get one!?

  • Thank you so much! Appreciate this great solution!

  • this is so awesome

  • Thanks Alan. If you want any more detail, contact me through my website. I have some drawings and other info.

  • Thanks so much for sharing your invention John. I have been playing guitar since the 80's ala Hedges tapping style and never was able to have a stable anchor for the steel string guitar. Very clear presentation. rock on, Alan Tower

  • You should patent this and sell it.

  • You Rock! Thanks for rethinking and working to improve playing in a RADICALLY reactionary field- classical guitar. I'll be in contact.

  • @BeauJames59

Thank you, and thanks for favoriting my video.

  • Johne Jarvie, Renaissance Man... plays classical guitar beautifully, luthier and innovator, ingenious designer of better mousetraps, artist and engineer. Thanks so much for sharing this video. I found it by a reference on Delcamp classical guitar forum... lookup "guitar strap" and you will find the thread. I suspect you are already getting inquiries, but this looks like a great commercial product idea!

  • @billder999 Thank you, John

  • ingenious. thank you, JohneJarvie

  • Thank you so much for sharing. Looks like you have figured out a great way to play standing. I've been unable to play sitting recently due to an intense burning pain caused by pressure on my sciatic nerve near my sit bone when sitting with good posture. My physical therapist has been telling me to figure out a way to play standing. So I've been looking for straps but it's hard to find anything on using them for classical position. I hope I'll be able to get back into playing guitar.

  • John,

This video was a total revelation for me. I too have been looking for ways to play "standard" CG repertoire while standing, and your ideas in this video are very clear and sensible. I tried the normal strap that steel-stringed players all know and love, and found the same flaws that you seem to have fixed. That plastic angle-adjuster seems to be the key!

It appears that there is hope that I can play without pain by using a system similar to yours.

    Thank you so much!

  • @jckoto3 Hope it works out for you, good luck.

  • Haha, the ingenuity of people never ceases to amaze me. Very good idea, by the way. Question: how much do your guitars run for?

  • @habagrachel Thank you. I make my own guitars, and I've made a few for friends and students. I've charged between $1000 and $2500, depending on details. If you want more info, visit my website and contact me through my contacts page. Thanks for your interest.
