i think he just had his head down because of the nature of the play, he is stretching for the puck thats why it was a head hit. It's not in any way dirty and its not Lindros dumb, just an unfortunate play but Brandon will learn from this, these guys are pro athletes and can really throw there weight around (no pun intended)

The check was legal, I have to agree. Sutter was in a vulnerable position and Weight did not have to go at him like a train. IT IS POSSIBLE TO CHECK SOMEONE WITHOUT GOING AT HIM LIKE A BULLDOZER. If hockey players want their sport to grow in popularity, the are going to have to play a cleaner game. Head shots are going to have to stop....Just a bad way to sell hockey.

Clean hit, technically, but can't deny that Weight brought his shoulder up into Sutter's head. I'm sure Weight didn't mean to hurt him, but he could have kept his shoulder down. He didn't even go for the puck. It was bad timing for Sutter, and bad judgement for Weight.

If you look at it, Sutter leaned in at the VERY LAST second to reach for the puck if he hadn't reached for the puck at the last second it wouldve been shoulder to shoulder, I am not saying its Sutter's fault... and if u look at it, Weight did kind of let up, as you see his arm didnt go up after the hit like it would when you hit someone intentionally. Remember this game is played A WHOLE lot faster than what you see on the replay

clean hit, doug weight is one of THE classiest players in the league, this was not intentional, it is his job, play the body. weight even crouched down in attempts to avoid it being a hit to the head. lesson learned, brandon sutter, keep your head up and welcome to the nhl.

It was a LEGAL hit. 'Clean' and 'dirty' are subjective adjectives that can be debated till the cows come home. Bottom line... it was a legal hit by NHL rules.

Playing the body is something every player is taught at a young age, as is keeping your head up. Guys like Scott Stevens make it to the hall of fame by catching players with their heads down and making them pay for it.

This is a physical sport, but the snap judgements after one event don't do anyone any justice.

Doug Weight is one of, if not the classiest players in the game today. In no way was there an intent to injure here. This has been and will be a conundrum for the NHL. Hitting is part of what makes hockey great and this was certainly a clean legal hit, but too many bright careers have been ended or effectively ruined by shots to the head. Sutter should have had his head up, but nobody wants to see his career ruined by a rookie mistake. But what is Weight supposed to do? Let Sutter skate by? Back off and try to play the puck? Putting your head down would become a common practice to avoid hits.
