  • Kuuga is the most mature rider series in Heisei, and includs quite a bit of red blood. His final forms were not showcased very well however, and the ending is abit of a cliffhanger. Other than that, I recommend Kuuga.

  • I recomend you the first 9 Kamen Rider tv series if you like shows that blend Adam West's Batman,Bruce Lee and James Bond together.

Also I hardly recognize Ryuki as a Kamen Rider series because: The riders doesn't look like insects. The riders are fighting each other for selfish reasons instead of fighting evil. A Kamen Rider, according to Shotaro Ishinomori,is supposed to be a insect-like hero who fights evil despite his sad cyborg condition

  • Definitely Agito; great storyline/plot and characters,

  • oh and lets not forget Kamen Rider G ;)

  • id start out with decade to get a flavour of all the main riders, then branch out in to Kiva (my personal fave rider), W, OOO's and RX

  • I dont know if youre still interested but I recommend every series from Kuuga to Blade, specially Agito and Blade. Also, check out some episodes from the old generation Riders: Black, V3, Stronger... Im pretty sure you'll enjoy the old movies too (I recommend Kamen Rider vs Shocker, Kamen Rider vs Ambassador Hell, 5 Riders vs King Dark, 8 Riders vs Galaxy King and the Super-1 Movie)

  • i love..Accel!!!!!

  • decade, kabuto or just start at kuuga....

  • Out of what I've finished: Ryuki,Faiz[because of atmosphere not writing],Dragon Knight for a similar reason,Kabuto got me into it,Kiva might be a good idea,OOO might be a good idea. Out of what I have yet to finish I'd say Black,Kuuga or Hibiki.

  • kamen rider decade is good because it explain all rider shows in one show

  • My fav rider is Ouja, from Kamen Rider Ryuki. It was my first rider series and the cards were what got me into the show as well. Also I like Ryuki due to is unconventional ways and groundbreaking methods of telling a story =)

  • My favorite rider is Drake. :)

  • @Exsimonce - Not a lot of people seem to pick Drake as a favourite but I think the character is cool and Daisuke and Gon are such a great duo.

  • @Guiltaur I also like Hercus. But if Kabuto did not exist, I probably like Den-O.

  • My favorite would be Kamen Rider Black (the first Kamen Rider i watched as a kid). I'd recommend Blade and Faiz, These two are my other favorites really hehehe. and Decade is just Meh

  • @LILPIEK1D - Thanks for the information!

  • @LILPIEK1D - I like the look of the Faiz costume designs. I'd love to watch Kuuga if I could track down a good fansub of the show.

  • watch the next! it's a great movie!

  • @TFfan7 - I saw both The FIrst and The Next. I really like the redesigns of Ichigo, Nigo, and V3 but I couldn't invest much into the plots of both movies.

  • I would recommend 555 and Blade. The story for 555 is okay but I like the suit designs as well as the actions. I also want to ask if you have watched Kamen Rider G?

  • @jaykl

The costume designs from both of those KR shows are very interesting.

    I haven't watched Kamen Rider G yet.

  • For me, i pretty enjoying the Showa Kamen Rider show compared to the Heisei generation... simple story line, suitable for kids and teens..... My favorite Kamen Rider is Kamen Rider Black and Kamen Rider Black RX... Both are related anyway...

  • Have you tried watching Kamen Rider Decade? It showcases all Kamen riders of the new generation, not to mention its movies. Check it out at Wikipedia for more info.

  • @megavinx

I haven't watched it yet but it's on my list. I'm going to try to watch all the Heisei era KR shows.

  • @Guiltaur Ok. Just to let you know that the show summarizes the stories of the previous Heisei Riders. Good luck to you.

  • @megavinx

    Thanks for the information!

  • Watch Den-o and then Blade. Those are excellent series. Make sure to finish Kiva, it gets better further along.

  • @heyman558

I finished Kiva yesterday and I definitely enjoyed the whole show from start to finish.

  • Kabuto had a bad ending and the only good thing from Kiva is Otoya (and the music).

I recommend Agito for the a bit darker story, Blade for one of the best ending, & Hibiki for the unique concept (it had good story, but the ending was rushed).

I also liked W. it have surprised me many time with it's story after I have been disappointed since Kabuto. the only thing I hated from W is eps 7-8 (the breakdance story). everything else till now is topnotch

  • @blackversegun

I must agree, Kabuto had a weak ending. In my future planned review for the show, that'll be my main criticism. Kabuto had a strong first half but the second half is when things really seemed rushed despite having so many episodes to work with. I still enjoyed the show, though, mainly because of Kagami Arata.

Yeah, the dancing story arc was kind of odd, haha. However, I did like seeing Philip going outside of the hideout.

  • Den-O is my personal fave followed by Blade. i love Armed Hibiki!!!

  • Iv watched: Decade, kiva, den-o, kabuto, ryuku and agito and watching double. I would highly reccomend watching Kiva and Agito, those are AMAZING series.

  • showa riders maybe start with Black

    for heisei, i'd suggest agito

  • well from black & blackRX, Kuuga~W is a must watch!

For figures i would recommend S.H Figuarts but only buy the main riders and your fav character if you have a budget. Do get the exclusives as well, its worth it! S.I.C is okay but the earlier ones got some QC problems so only recommend the Mini S.I.C figures.

  • @sparkman23

I was considering pre-ordering the S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Skull figure but I couldn't convince myself to part with over $50 for a single figure even though I really like the S.H. Figuarts line.

I've read and heard from a few sources that the S.I.C. line is pretty iffy up until Volume 40, which is Agito and Machine Tornader. Apparently the figures dramatically improve from that point on. The S.I.C. Kiwami figures look great and I pre-ordered Den-O Sword Form figure.

  • cool! hope u enjoy your stay with kamen riders. I've been a fan since 5yrs old when i 1st watched Black RX and now im 17 =)

  • i watched all heisei series , i would recommend kuuga , agito , ryuki.

  • Den-o, Kiva and maybe decade are good series to watch

  • The wife is the Kamen Rider fan of the home. She started with Kabuto herself but her motivations were a bit different (handsome leading actors...HA!) She also liked Den-O for the humour, but said it ran thin and repetative.

  • @japanesesandman

Haha, it seems like all the Kamen Rider shows are filled with handsome actors.

  • Kamen Rider Black and Black RX are pretty much the quintessential, must watch series. Younger folks will inevitably point to the Heisei Riders (Anything after 1989). But you can pretty much consider the Black RX series as the Zeta Gundam of Kamen Rider, it introduced the money-spinning 1-Rider-multiple-forms. But the fact that Black RX got made in the first place was because of the success of Black. So you can consider Black as RX-78...It's that important.

  • @wskng

Kamen Rider Black was the first Kamen Rider I saw when I was a kid. I didn't see the show but I did see model kits of it and Black RX in a Japanese hobby magazine. I'll definitely hunt down episodes of Black and Black RX.

  • My question! how about explination of the kamen rider toy series, i hear so much about S.H. Figurarts but theres like 3 other lines. pros cons and stuff,

Personally I LOVE Den-O, seen the first 8 or so of decade W and kiva and pretty meh, right now Shinkenger and magiranger has my attention

  • @Legokiller1273

I'm planning on getting into the S.I.C. figure line as it looks very intriguing(great sculpted details and decent articulation combined with re-imagined designs for the various Kamen Rider characters).

S.H. Figuarts is a new line for me but it's very impressive so far.

  • Have you seen the Kamen Rider Movie remake from about three or four years ago? It was an updated version of the original series, like, modernized. It was pretty cool. Cheesy, but cool.

  • @KPHM42

I saw Kamen Rider THE FIRST, which sounds like what you describe. It had very cool updates of the Rider 1 and Rider 2 designs.

  • i think the 2008 or come out an anime called skulman, that is supoose to be the prequel to all kamen rider series, well that what i heard.see it maybe it is,

  • @swordcloud

    Hmm, Skullman sounds familiar.

  • Gonna say somethings in a comment but will record something tonight for ya =P

Den-O : Good, lots of comedy

    Kiva : Loved it

    Blade : Must watch

    Kuuga : Epic

Ryuki : Meh, not a must watch. Its something you could pass up and watch some other time.

    Agito : Pretty good

    555: Decent... yeah...

Decade : If you retcon almost every KR series before it... yeah it was alright.

  • i agree blade is definately a must watch, kiva is also great, den-o was just plain fun throughout the whole season

  • @garosenshi

Would you say that Den-O is comparable to Double with respect to having a more lighthearted mood?

  • its alot more light hearted sense the imagin are should i say more "animated" than just philip and shotaro, but all the movies after the first movie for den-o are in my opinion complete milkings of the rider. but worth watching if den-o's a rider you like

  • @garosenshi

Great to know. Thanks for the information. :)

  • @00REbirth

Thank you very much for the rundown of those shows! I can't wait to watch your video on this topic. :)

  • Go for Kuuga or agito my friend..... well, at least miss out on those two! XD

  • @kamenriderzunder

Should I watch Kuuga and Agito in order? It seems like the two Riders are at least visually related.

  • @Guiltaur

well, it doesn't have to be really in order, It just this 2 riders stories have Showa like appeal (story-wise)than most of the hesei series... so never forget to watch them.....

  • @Guiltaur

Kuuga and Agito is set in the same universe, with Agito as the sequel.

but other that slight note, there's no need to watch Kuuga before Agito.

perhaps the only important thing that connects them is that G3 was first made to combat the Grongi (the monsters from Kuuga).

  • i would say Den-o is good for beginners but the best series IMO are Kiva Kabuto Double and Blade

  • @eddied3

The designs in Blade look very interesting. :)

  • i cant really say much since im a noob too but i can take a few ideas!! ive only seen kabuto and double so far

  • @zversus

I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed Kabuto, though there are some issues with the series in the second half of its run.

  • Watch Kamen Rider Ryuki series. Simple designs yet interesting stories and concepts. Most suitable for newbies. This is the series that got me started this fanatic.

My favourite riders: Kamen Rider Diend, Kamen Rider Gatack, Kamen Rider Ixa, Kamen Rider Ouja and the most favourite of all, ku-ku-ku kuuga!

  • @Clement899

Ryuki is getting some mentions...I'll have to look for that series next. :)

I'm a big fan of the Gatack design and the character...KaGAmi!. Ixa looks very cool too.

  • @Guiltaur WAGATOMO~ ka GAAAAA mi! lol~

I can't find out the reason why I love Ixa. I love Kuuga because...he is mighty. I love gatack because of the blue colour. mmm yummy!~ Lastly, I love the rest because they are basically badass.

Ryuki is a must to look into. This can be proved by the existence of Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. =D

  • Kamen Rider Black is probably regraded as the most popular rider by most Kamen Rider Fans and me included, part of the reason for that is probably due to the series are set in a much darker tone compare to most of the recently releases which are aim for the younger viewers. Give this series a chance if you can find the series.

  • @chunlau

I really like Black's design! I'll try to track down the episodes.

  • you should see kamen rider kuuga, agito, and den-o

  • @Paradoxman92

Kuuga and Agito look similar. I wonder if the two series are related...

  • I forgot check out Kamen Rider Decade

  • @Pronooob3x24

Will do. The concept of Decade is quite interesting.

  • Kamen Rider Den-O

  • @Pronooob3x24

I've heard some people imply that Den-O is a sort of love-or-hate series for fans...the costume designs look cool to me so I'm going to check it out for sure.

  • u need to check out kamen rider ryuki

  • @MrMunchie456

    Thanks for the recommendation. :)

  • Watching W, seen 555 which is ok... only watched it for the transforming bike that wasn't in the show much. Currently watch Kabuto, which is much better then 555 but not as good as W. Still early days for my Henshin addition.

  • @Wizartar

I'm a fan of Kabuto, though there are some problems I have with it...I may review it in the near future after watching Godspeed Love.

W is a very fun series. I enjoy its unabashed embrace of the cheesy nature of this kind of fiction(tokusatsu in general as well as some anime tropes).
