@thej1979 the only way a ls1 or ls3 with heads and a cam is going to beat a 03-04 cobra is if the cobra is stock or has a bad driver. Stock ls1's run high 13's and ls3's run low 13's- high 12's with a good driver and drag radials. Stock 03-04 cobras run 12.4-12.8 on street tires. Look it up if you don't believe it. Im not saying f-bodys and gtos suck I used to have a 94 TA, I know what they do.
@eds01cobra Stock Ls1 gtos have ran flat 13s and even a high 12 u should look that up too. I have seen many races of stock cobra vs stock gto and I do agree the cobra usually wins but only by like a 1 or 1 1/2 car length. Anyways i will always preffer the GTO simply because the interior is 100 times better than any mustang and my girls love it more than the interior on my other car which is a mustang lol. Both cars are amazing though.
@eds01cobra looks to me like the gto driver cant drive. I waste them things all day long and my brother does too in a damn LS1 with only heads and a small cam.
GTO's are bad ass cars, but the Cobra's are bad MF's. Cobra's will win most of the time, there power to weight ratio is so much better, a GTO weigh's around 4500, and a Cobra weigh's under 3700.
@wildstar43 also the cobra got pulleys, how else do you increase boost on a supercharger. I got an 05 also and I raced a Cobra when it was stock and I walked away from him, didnt kill it but still my GTO was stock with 1900 miles on it. IMO Cobras are over rated they got 300-350 hp with a SC?
@hopsyn You are right about the Cobra and how they can change pulles to create more boost. However, I read it in Road and Track magaizne that the Cobra is rated at 390 hp. Road and Track stated that it is more like 430 hp with the SC. I still think that it is over rated and is more like 390 because on one of the car shows that comes on tv. Had a Cobra and they changed the pulleys and dynoed it after that. The rating was 417 hp.

you cant sleep on these ls2 gto's! they are fast cars! the cobra did pass the gto but it was a close race.these cars are simular in numbers so i expected a good race. both 400hp cars and close in weight. good run

i doubt where the camera guy was standing was a 1/4th mile because they was only hit 2 gears and you cant run that 1/4th in only two gears. the gto didnt get off of it!

Driver ability is the single most variable factor in racing...seeing how the physics are simply hp/wt ratio and gearing. I do love both cars for what they are though.
@98MustangGT46L If you listen closley, on the launch the Cobra spun and he MAD short shifted into second and bogged way the hell down. But he ran him down anyways. Cobra driver needs to learn to launch and not short shift the fuck out of the car.
i beat a gto in my 04 mustang tonite on the way home from work. and the only mods i have on it is a bbk cai and a bassini x-pipe. now that i watch this vid im figurin he prolly missed a gear. haha.
I have an 08 gt wth bbk throttle body, steeda CAI, Steeda under pully's, Brenspeed tune and I smoke my buddy in his GTO by alot. A GTO stock is much about two tenths of a second faster but you can do so much more with a Mustang than a GTO as far as upgrades go.
13.2 is no't bad. the car can do better i ran 13.0 -13.1 all day long.. somting is wrong with you roomate. a friend at work owns a 06 gt with cai,headers,full,exhaust,dyno tune.we race a lot and is a side by side race with my stock 6.0 gto..after 100 mph i start pulling hard."no't trashing the mustang" i like ther body style..
I like the GTO also it's much louder than my car and as you said it has a better top end with both n/a. But like some people said earlier I beat him in the 1/4 because he get's too much rubber in the whole (I also have 4.10 gears). I run about 12.8/12.9 he usually runs 13.3/13.2 but I love both cars, we swap driving them around town alot........they are both very fun end of story.
um im not tryin to start an argument but youre forgetting that the ls1 is a awesome motor to mod... its cheaper than the 4.6 dohc and is a better base to mod from (makes more hp n/a than the 4.6) so if i have $4k and use 1.5k to get the ls1 i can use the other 2.5k to mod the motor to put out more hp than i could with the 4.6 which is about 3k which will leave me with 1k to mod(more money= big hp)...
or just got with a GTO for 13k which is in my area rather than spending 25k for a cobra... sorry the #'s add up to the gto ftw... being the sleeper for mods and cheaper to start with
now dont get me wrong i like the cobra its a really good car to mod... i just think that the ls1 is the better motor to go with and mod (and yes i know this gto has the ls2 in the vid which is also an awesome motor)
My best friend just bought a 06 GTO for $15,000 with 28,000miles... My other friend has his 04 Cobra with 55,000miles on it for sale and he is asking $20,000 for the Cobra if it was up to me I would buy a GTO! Those supercharged 03-04 Cobra owners are wanting an arm & a leg for them and they aren't worth it.

no cobra has at least 100 more hp with the pulley upgrade. 03 cobra is 390 stock and with my pulley set up i have 450 rwhp around 500 at the fly wheel. thats with cai as well.

Agree... the NSX is an overrated piece of garbage, what did it sell for right out of the factory, like 100,000 somewhere around there, and that was with dealer markups. It only came with 276HP with little torque, and the numbers where just not worth the price, it might be able to take a corner, but thats about it, and to be able to mod it, you needed a mad amount of money.

GTO is not stock. If that GTO is stock, that means the cobra driver can't drive. I have a 03 and have no problems against Stock GTO's.

if you listen closely the cobra driver misses a gear and after they pass the cameraman, the cobra passes the gto. not bashin the gto's just saying that there was an error at the beginning but the cobra is clearly faster

I have an 08 gt wth bbk throttle body, steeda CAI, Steeda under pully's, Brenspeed tune and I smoke my buddy in his GTO by alot. A GTO stock is much about two tenths of a second faster but you can do so much more with a Mustang than a GTO as far as upgrades go.

I like the GTO also it's much louder than my car and as you said it has a better top end with both n/a. But like some people said earlier I beat him in the 1/4 because he get's too much rubber in the whole (I also have 4.10 gears). I run about 12.8/12.9 he usually runs 13.3/13.2 but I love both cars, we swap driving them around town alot........they are both very fun end of story.

um im not tryin to start an argument but youre forgetting that the ls1 is a awesome motor to mod... its cheaper than the 4.6 dohc and is a better base to mod from (makes more hp n/a than the 4.6) so if i have $4k and use 1.5k to get the ls1 i can use the other 2.5k to mod the motor to put out more hp than i could with the 4.6 which is about 3k which will leave me with 1k to mod(more money= big hp)...

now dont get me wrong i like the cobra its a really good car to mod... i just think that the ls1 is the better motor to go with and mod (and yes i know this gto has the ls2 in the vid which is also an awesome motor)

My best friend just bought a 06 GTO for $15,000 with 28,000miles... My other friend has his 04 Cobra with 55,000miles on it for sale and he is asking $20,000 for the Cobra if it was up to me I would buy a GTO! Those supercharged 03-04 Cobra owners are wanting an arm & a leg for them and they aren't worth it.

no cobra has at least 100 more hp with the pulley upgrade. 03 cobra is 390 stock and with my pulley set up i have 450 rwhp around 500 at the fly wheel. thats with cai as well.

Agree... the NSX is an overrated piece of garbage, what did it sell for right out of the factory, like 100,000 somewhere around there, and that was with dealer markups. It only came with 276HP with little torque, and the numbers where just not worth the price, it might be able to take a corner, but thats about it, and to be able to mod it, you needed a mad amount of money.

the cobra is capable of going 12.8 in the 14 stock, right? and the gto can musta 12.9 stock, so stock for stock they are pretty close, the cobra edging forward... but really, i'd rather have my goat since i cant fit in that tiny little mustang (ive tried, but i cant turn the steering wheel as my knees are in the way) sounds gorgeous though

the Z06 is a 7 liter engine that only produces 500@ the crank. the nsx is a 12.7 second car with under 300 horses and only a 3.2 liter. the vette, is just a icon, nothing more. like the stang , only a icon. the cars are hideous looking , crappy interiors, the new NSX is a 5.5 liter 550hp@ the crank, with SH-AWD. with better looks , build and finish, quality, great interior, amongst many other things. u say u buy american when proven fact american cars are 60% built in foreign countries.
