Mr Conan568.... Actually Jeff is correct when he says mild steel is carbon steel. A35 is marketed as mild steel and can have up to .35% carbon, possibly more. It can be hardened a moderate amount using a brine solution.

This is my brother Jeff. Much like our father I have yet to find something he cannot do. It's very uncommon to find someone with hands strong enough to forge steel yet gentle enough to make exquisite jewelery. He's amazing!! YOU GO BRO!!!

It's either carbon steel or mild steel, the two are about as far apart as you can get.
Mild steel will NOT harden, carbon steel will.
