  • Happy Birthday Neil!

  • Yes i tis classy and breath takingly beautiful. Thank you Neil Diamond for this music.

  • What a great album! My favorite by Neil Diamond! But I'm mad at you for not posting the tracks in stereo!

  • 2 people are not from Africa.

Brilliant Neil Diamond! In fact, all of "Tap Root Manuscript" is brilliant! Neil is a genius!

    Bravo, Neil Leslie Diamond!

  • How can 2 people NOT like this?

  • I am a great Diamond fan but this was rehashed in Jonathan Livingston Seagull

  • wonder how many times I played this album when first out

  • When I was in High Scool I did an arraignent of this for Music Thoery Class. Our Ochestra ended uperfoming it

  • I am so glad the african suite was posted on you tube. One of the best instrumentals of the era. If one can put the great migration to music, this is it.

  • Probably Neil's finest album. I still have my old worn vinyl version. Side 2 (the African Trilogy) was such an amazing surprise.

  • Thank You very much for sharing this, my 7th & 8th Grade Choir instructor from my school shared this with us. it has been a treasure to me ever since. I have shared it with my children (the youngest is now 18).

  • Bought it back then and still have it today! Good stuff!

  • I first bought this album in the early 70's and just loved it. Bought it on cd, then downloaded onto my computer! This is so terrific-one of the best of the best! Love Neil Diamond.

  • WFAA in Dallas used parts of this for their theme, and was part of Nutka's music at 7 Seas.

  • totally love this...and love Neil. probably theo only star I will cry for....

  • @SueMN ya me too!!!

  • Not what people generally remember Neil Diamond for. An unsung part of his repertoire that has another quality altogether. Very fine music.

  • @gevans28 Oh totally!!! He was a supremely talented song writer and pioneer in incorporating African music into his songs.

  • I was very fortunate to accompany my big sister and her friend, and later, her husband to MANY Neil Diamond shows, I loved any and all perfomances except for the Diamond in Blue Jeans song,,, I didn't like that song.

  • Neil Diamond is amazing, his music still sounds as good today as it was back then!

  • A brilliant piece of music. Ever notice how he and the orchestra combine with a fantastic arrangement on all his songs?

  • Possibly Neil Diamonds best album...

  • @aoh51phil No "possibly" about it. Love this song!

  • gorgious -inspiring

  • Beautiful. One of my top 5 albums of all time.

    Diamond is a genius.

  • Memories! A dance company I belonged to as a kid, covered all sections of this piece.

  • I love this, i'm crying right now just listening to it! Brings back so many good memories of my childhood!!

  • This was also the news theme music for Channel 7 in DC around 1980 (beginning around the 1:26 mark). It's from a 1970 album, "Tap Root Manuscript", and I think it was newly-written that year. So I don't think it was used as the news theme music anywhere in the 1960s.

  • It is. Called the Prelude to Hot August Night

  • my favorite piece of instrumental music EVER!

  • I am the Lion!

  • @TheGreatFall Bobba la dinga! HEY

  • This is so classy, it just doesn't matter

  • @webbysbeach ditto

  • Great album, mine is mia - always loved

the semi classical tone to this suite of

    songs. He's a genius.

  • Where's the choral part at the beginning?

  • some tunes you'll never forget......a classic

  • The best damned record EVER!! Man, I played it over and over and over again!! Thanks for posting it here!! :-)
