Fact is, this was all made up on the spot.

The Story goes that they were just improv'ing a scene about stoners and Tommy Chong switched things up on Cheech Marin. Apparently it was during a blistering heat wave that this took place. Cheech was stuck outside in the heat and was trying to make an entrance. Must of the frustration you hear is Cheech trying to get inside for the AC. The rest is history.
