I like some of Paul's thinking, but I'm sorry his plight with the gold market is laughable. Companies that own mines with hold their full supply of gold, it certainly doesn't go straight to the market or its value would drop significantly (oldSpain). The same is true with diamonds. It is the same reason the government pays farmers not use their fields on certain years to prevent the prices of food at a balanced price. Sure governments buy it up sometimes, but they buy it at the speculated price.

Very sad but true - those boys running this nations monetary engine are a complete joke - they got dirt on their sleeves, as Mr. Paulson was former head of Goldman and created a very large part of the toxic nightmare, that now ended up being bailed out with the 700B+ package!
