It doesn't really matter if you just leave the cd or dvd in, as long you don't do anything when the computer restarts, if you cant download the drivers because you computer doesn't connect to internet, then download them from another computer, connect a cable or do something to get them in there and then install them, i connect my phone through usb and share my internet

You may want update that link because SP2 is no longer supported by Microsoft so you may want to replace the link with SP3 some copies of Windows XP would have SP2 integrated you can install SP3 over SP1

For those wondering, the Dell Windows CDs install a Dell key during installation. If it detects the correct Dell BIOS, activation won't be necessary. If you use it on a computer without the correct BIOS (say, a much older Dell or an HP) it will ask for an OEM key.

I've used the Dell CDs on a Gateway and Compaq, just enter the key attached to the case and I've never had a problem.

Got a formatted pc, and can't install XP.

Installed Vista without problems, but couldn't find drivers for it.

When Vista was installed, couldn't boot from CD or DVD ( Didn't recognize XP CD, but it did with Vista). Did HDD format with the Vista DVD, and then tried to install XP. But it says "BOOTMGR is missing. Ctrl + alt + del to restart."

@gircupcakeful I don't think so. But I would not advise you to try using the same CD on another dell computer or any other computer. Mainly because it is illegal, but also because you will run into activation issues since the software will have already been activated on another computer.

@mehmenmit Have you tried to install the driver for your computer via the Dell Support & Drivers website? Google it and you should easily find the newest drivers for your computer. Download the recommended downloads under Networking and install those. Then see if it works.

@wiifan62 You shouldn't because it is illegal to do. Also because it wouldn't activate on your gaming rig since it was already activated on your Dell laptop. I believe the activation key for the OS will always have record that it belongs to your dell laptop series.

With my dell demented 2350 series, it came with 4 blue and white disks labeled Drivers and utilities, applications ect. Is there a way to get the computer to automaticly run these disks in series and gather any driveers , utilities, apps that are needed to restore the dang thing back to it's out of box condition. Isn't this the intention of providing these disk with the PC?

You need to download the drivers for the audio chip inside your computer. There is a link in the description. You can either type in a service tag number or select the model. Then download the recommended/required driver under Audio.

Well you will need to go into the BIOS and change the boot order so that the CD ROM is first. This way the computer automatically boots into the disk instead of the hard drive. Try google...

Well you probably had the secure login... go to Control Panel and User Accounts... you will see something that says change the way users login.

For the "big" you will need to install drivers and turn up the resolution.

Well the XP disk needs to be a new copy of XP that has not been activated on any computer. You can't use reinstall CD either. I suggest using DB NUKE to clean the entire hard drive all the way.
