OHH I love this!! This is so fucking awesome, and the Runaways is really the only teenage band that really got the job. I mean, the Runaways against Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato... The Runaways wins, of course. They really played tough, swety, serious rock and roll, and it's like winning the lottery to find a band like the Runaways.

Musical revisionist historians always mistake the Runaways for being (read this carefully:) "the first all-female rock band to be signed to a major record label (Decca)." That feat belongs to Goldie and the Gingerbreads. Even then, they only edged The Pleasure Seekers (Suzi Quatro & sisters) by a cool year (though never signed to a major). Genya Ravan (Goldie) also produced the Dead Boys 1st album. Goldie Zelkowitz is true rock and roll royalty & Suzi Quatro rules!

Fanny was the first all-girl band to get a record deal. Goldie and the Gingerbreads came before them and were the first all-female band to be signed to a major label. Another all-girl band called The Deadly Nightshade was around about the same time that Fanny was. The Runaways weren't the first all-female rock band ever, but they are definitely very important. Not to be anal, but I'm doing my graduation project on women in the music industry, so I felt the need to comment. xD Thanks for posting!
