MMA has come a long way. Back then it was about having disciplined artists of a specific art fight to see the strengths and weaknesses of each art respectively, that was it's allure. Now its all about who has the most honed skills from the hybrid martial arts. All petty squabbles about which art is best aside, its all about being a good artist. I love martial arts! :D

No, I meant Nog's BJJ on a world level is not top 30. Werdum, Marcelo Garcia, Estima, Roger Gracie, Arona, just to name a few, are ahead of Nog in pure BJJ. Generally, regardless of being pure or not, a World-class grappler who is like, the 1% best of the best, as Rickson is, would do a lot better in MMA than someone who is world-class, say, 12%. "Killed in seconds" is the stupidest comment to make. We've seen Arona, Roger, etc, use the same standup as Rickson use BJJ effectively.
Arona is a lot stronger than Rickson, and punches harder than a lot of strikers. Roger is way bigger than Rickson. Try 6''4. Hickson would have gotten killed, period. His BJJ may be better than Arona's, Roger's and even Nog's...but his standup is way way below them.

Im sure people may disagree, but the way Rickson strikes looks very similar to Wing Chun because he's low kicking to the knee cap, and his punches shoot out with little body motion very straight forward like Wing Chun punches and yes his Style is BJJ. Just an observation, to me styles dont matter its the person.

He even almost lost his second fight to Takada when he dropped him with a knee to his stomach. Takada being a dummy went to the ground with him and lost. He should have at least fought Sakuraba, the "Gracie killer", but then he would no longer be able to claim his 400-0 record; a record that even Helio Gracie called bullshit on.

Rickson Gracie actually has a loss on his record. He claims to be like 400-0 but he was defeated by Ron Tripp by an "Uchi Mata" in 47 seconds in 1993 at the U.S. Sambo Championships in Norman, Oklahoma.

And also he proved that, even being smaller than everybody else, he could beat them. He improved the fighting technic till what it is now.

Well, as super natural and talented Rickson is, the fact remains that he has never, ever beaten a well-schooled, well-rounded fighter. His professional record is a list of virtual nobodies. He has been in streetfights with good fighters, who lack the nurturing and maturity he had since birth. His sport BJJ is amazing however. If Funaki can give Rickson a black eye, then surely Rickson in his prime would still have his hands full had MMA in America started earlier.

It's easy to act tough when the guy you're talking trash about is no longer around. Challengers were few and far between while he was active and that's because nobody wanted to mess with him. Gracie Jiu Jitsu dominated MMA in the early days and Rickson was the the best of the bunch, end of story.
