no point building gattling cannons with infantry general, just pump out mini gunners and rocket men and garrisson them in the small buildings by the coast and in the village across the bridge. Troop crawlers provide good value as well. Get a dozer to the second supply stack across the bridge ASAP, build a baracks and supply centre, if you capture the oil rigs you will be able to pump enough mini gunners to rush the base! especially on normal difficulty
wow, you suck, no offense. i can do it better on hard setting. tip is, do a hard and have a hard ally, and you will see what is the best sequence for building a base with the least amount of resources
@ForzaS1 also, try to push to the north to station a small base around the vehicle drop. take a dozer with you, and do it as soon as possible before he sends guards there.
@ForzaS1 currently on infantry vs. tank on hard. Might have to use a T defense strategy (two bunkers staffed with tank hunters and a mini gun to ward off infantry). Listening Outposts get trashed by the heavy tanks.
@shaithis80 For Tank general I just reached my base out to the two supplies on the top and side and then filled helixes with rockets maybe one minigunner. They would take out the tanks and I would have gat cannons for the infantry. If they got damaged by a gat tank i would heal them up or build a listening tower thing.
@sonofmar I took a different route and went with ground defense and heavy bunkers. Started out with two along with a bunch of saves (mig strikes) and all. To throw the migs off I just built a barracks but didn't complete it and they targeted that like I thought they would. Eventually got enough bunkers around my base and just kept them repaired. The infantry drop helps big time in staffing those bukers. I like your approach to.
@sonofmar the problem on hard is getting a working defense up immediately because the computer just wont stop attacking you. And 4 migs can take out one bunker pretty easily which is why I have to save periodically. Can't afford a weakened defense. At the rate the computer throws stuff at you it is difficult to hold or expand with infantry so I just defend a smaller area get a few nukes and shut the tank general down. I like infantry though. Different strategy.
@sonofmar the only thing that sucks with infantry general is that the helix can't carry tractors or other vehicles. Go figure however I know what you mean about the Helixes. Troops can fire out at apaches and probably jets and shoot them down. A strategy to try out on the final level against The Dragon Lady. Hard level is no picnic. Toxic general with China is easy. I just build gattlings to the nw, north, and east of my base and it stops forces cold.
@sonofmar just completed the infantry general challenge on hard. It's possible but can be tricky on the final level. What saved me was just spreading my air dropped gattling troops along the bottom ridge of my base and they just served as target practice for the computer's airstrikes which spared them from targeting my eastern bridge defense and oil derrick. Your can defend your bridge with 10 rocket soldiers and an advanced bunker but you need to keep it repaired and keep two helixes around.
@sonofmar I just kept two helixes in my base on the final level to pick of any units taking a pot shot at my base. After taking down the second bunker to reset the sw timer's you got until around 3:00 and maybe some seconds below the 3 minute mark before the computer with use it's general powers. At that point you want to have 6 nuke's ready to fire and be prepared to using xtra nukes to take out its builders and your aritillery strike if need while having an backup nuke for the final bunker
@sonofmar I don't see how you can be fully effective with the infantry general on hard for the final level as it is all about more defense than offense since the helix can't transport any tractors above the ridge and trying to garisson buildings won't help much with the computer airstriking those buildings and burning your troops. Pretty fun using that general though however the outcome always seems to be build nukes and strike first.
Thank you, but you actually gave me an idea off this video before you replied =D i applied the same tactics through the mini troopers and spread them through out the field, only putting the gattlings to the east for chopper bait. While this went on i timed both PCs and the lvl 3 airstrikes to "best guesses" and sold the buildings that i felt would be targeted (that saved me money in the end). After I got a hang of it, made hackers (used the same concept of spreading them to keep them apart).....
I am currently struggling with the Infantry vs Superweapons right now. Its such a pain in the ass v.v. Cant bother with automatic base defense (gattling) because the damn aurora bombers just faceroll the shit.... along with anything else around it ....
@ForzaS1 Well one idea would be to maybe use actual infantry as mini Gattling base defenses, I think what I did was I build a power plant or barracks as a sacrifice building that the aurora's would always hit and then had the infantry shoot them down along with the comanches. Unfortunately my old comp crashed so I can't record any more of this until I get my new one figured out along with another disk....
@sonofmar In addition (continuing from my other statement), I made a few troop crawlers and had them push toward the nearby PC to nullify the triple laser threat, didn't capture it on time.. but at least i got rid of it xD.. after that it was game. I kept her airfield in check and nuked the shit out of the power buildings....
Right now im on laser general, and using the bunker bait for the PCs.... but man.. he really doesn't want you to use the nuke missile.... lol, i have to keep a dozer near.
@ForzaS1 the solution to the Superweapons general are building a string of gattling tanks and just fortifying your cost line while leaving some behind for base defense. The computer will eventually just try for your buildings and the gattling tanks with the chain gun upgrade will eventually repel the air attacks enough for you to build and strike back.
@shaithis80 mehhh I dont know if that works on hard, but I just simply used the mini's they are pretty much the anti poon for any airforce. When I tried to use gattling, I wouldn't have time to make a second one before getting both my defense, and dozer sent flying. it was costing more to set it up before even having a settled base.
@ForzaS1 it will work on hard because I've already played out the scenario. The gattling tanks are also cheaper to replace. You will buy enough time to build the nuclear missle and should also be able to get an internet center and hackers up once you have adequate defenses. Eventually the computer backs off a little on hard level and the attack become predictable. If you think that is hard, the real stratagy is when you go up against the tank general with either nuke or infantry on hard.
@ForzaS1 once you recognize how the computer is attacking you especially on hard then it becomes that much easier. The thing with producing gattling tanks is that they produce quicker and are quite effective against air assaults with the chain gun upgade. As long as your money production isn't threatened then you should easily be making enough to build and replace as needed. The computer won't get through to your structures as the gattling tanks will shoot down the air defenses.
@shaithis80 You are not allowed to use gattling tanks as an infantry general; All you get are Troop Crawlers, ECM, Nuke Cannon and I think that's it. In addition.
Nuke gen was easy just have the helix choppers on standby with rocket soldiers. Only other general I found hard other than super weapons was Leang... she hurt my pride a bit. had to resort to an isle of nuke missiles.

@ForzaS1 I kind of like the tank general myself because a group of tanks could suffice for some type of defense. On the dragon lady level though it is a different story and seems like it is a race to build enough nukes and strike the computer before it can use its general powers and superweapons against you. Pretty annoying but like the mini gunner advantage. Perhaps they can shoot down the migs a little faster. Again sorry if I misread your comment.
@ForzaS1 any time your fighting superweapons general, only gla has advantage, because it takes two hits, and by that time, you have already built another one automatically
@ForzaS1 What I did was build 3 bunkers, 2 in the diagonal to the airfield (bunkers can survive 1 hit from aurora, 2nd hit will take it out, but you keep your troops, and the bunkers build fast). The 3rd I put at the north, covering against the chinook. The key to the auroras is to make sure you take them out on the way back. 10 minigunners do this easily, the 2nd bunker is more a backup. Then I managed decoys ect, built mass nukes and hit powerplants. I never moved off the island.
give your infantry bunker and you will not need the gattlings in this mission. the only missions where the gattlings come in handy are vs toxin and at the start vs stealth to close the checkpoints quickly till the bunkers are filled
@Disfuncti0n I did complete the whole challenge on Hard with Infantry, but sadly I didn't have a recording tool at the time.
It would have been awesome to record the Stealth general though, because my whole base was wiped out and all I had left was a few helix's with inf bunkers and a Lotus. I ended up capturing his base and winning :)
A great game, despite of what other gamers say. The thing I loved most about it is the remarks generals throw at you in the challenge, with granger being the best in this. Too bad I can't play it no more.
