  • love the curls gurl!

  • O.k. I'm confused. What is co-washing? I thought it was w/o using shampoo? Your curls are on and poppin'. No pun intended.

  • Hi:-) cowashing is using conditioner to wash your hair. The conditioner only method is using conditioner as a styler, like instead of a gel or some type of serum you rake conditioner thru your hair and leave it. hth Thanks for the compliment.

  • Yes Co- washing is washing with Conditioner. what she is doing iw what you do on you second - condioner (while your hair is soppinf wet and the conditioner is still in it. (you do not wash it out) Some people do rinse it after seperating the curls

  • can you believe how much your hair grew since then??

I was just looking at my conditioner only video and was thinking damn, I kinda do miss that short cute hair hihi.

Your hair grew so much. We are starting to grow out of that newbie fase.

  • I know its amazing. I kinda miss it too, I used to be able to wash n go no problem and it didnt take forever for my hair to dry(comparably speaking) I looked at one of your old vids the other day and thought the same thing:-) I dont miss the feeling of wanting my hair to grow, really bad. I feel that now but its nothing compared to when my hair was short short. We are actually becoming vets in this game, soon it will just feel natural.lol and not like a new toy:-)

  • Wow! great results! I have been doing this! Haven't perfected it yet.

  • Do you use a lot of product? And what do you do with the white residue that is left?

  • Does it matter if you use a leave in conditioner or wash out conditioner?

  • For this method, you leave the conditionner in. I would recommend finding a natural condish or one that is moisturizing, i love using Herbal Essence Hello Hydration when I use this method.

  • the conditioner only method is the BOMB!!! Loves it...especially perfect during the summer months. My conditioner's of choice...Aussie Moist or Pantene Curls condish. Both leave my curlies popping all over the place.

In the morning I spritz with water/glycerine/oil and I'm out the door...

This style is good for at least a week...and at the very end I pull it back into a puff.

  • Your culrs are so cute....I cant wait till I'm done through this transition so I rock my curls doing this method.

  • I was wondering where did you get your denman brush I keep hearing so much about it I just dont know where to get one at?

  • sally's beauty supply

  • thanks are there different ones?

  • yes, a d3 and a d4. i have the one with smaller bristles, there's one with wider bristles but i cant recall which is which. a lady named....(i forgot) but she has an accent, she goes into detail about the differences. search denman brush and she should pop up.

  • OMG! This is great! I had actually tried something like this and didn't even know what I had done! I actually twisted my individual curls so it came out looking sort of like BANTU knots which I don't liike....so I washed it all out. Since I've seen your explanation, I'm going to try this again....Thx for sharing!

  • Totally cool! Can't wait to try it!

  • I love your hair! The curls are so defined. How long did it take to seperate all your curls? I think I will try this method as an alternative to the 2 strand twists.

  • This is hot grrl.. I'm gonna have to try it

  • Great Video entry!!! i was looking at other videos talking about it...i am soo going to try it this week!

  • Thanks for the play by play! I def had some questions before, but I feel confident enough to try this now. Thanks so much!

  • Testify!!! You're hair is so beautiful!!!

  • Thanks for your video - I am 5-weeks post the BC so my hair is very short - when it grows I will try this method - thanks again

  • Hi! I just discovered your videos last night and I love your hair! I just finished the conditioner only method and I'm sitting under the dryer now to let it dry. Have you ever used the Bed Head Control Freak conditioner for this method? I think I heard you mention that product in one of your videos and I purchased it earlier today. Do you still like it? Do you use the control freak shampoo and serum as well?

  • I love love love control freak serum - it works wonders. I havent been using it since I switched to the condish only method, I do like it still though. Bed head moisture maniac condish is the bomb - a little on the pricey side but its extremely moisturizing. Let me know how your hair turned out.

  • Wow your hair looks great. I got the link to your video from Shea-girl-aloe on naturally curly. I'm going to do this the next time I wash my hair. Thanks for the demo.

  • Let me know how this turns out for you. Thanks for watching:-)

  • I tried this on my sister's hair yesterday. I think this method works just as well as KCCC. Seperating and smoothing individual 4b curls is just too much though. After detangling I just left her hair in two strand twists so that she could wet it and do a shake and go in the morning. It worked great. I was suprised at the hold without any other products. Thanks.

  • I'm gonna try this gurl I've always thought of doing it but thought it would get everywhere or something idk lol

  • Im so glad your going to try it, I love it! Let me know how it works for you.

  • Your hair looks terrific.

  • How long does it take for you to do your whole head? Looks great!

  • I wish I could try this method. But conditioner left in my hair makes me itch. Your hair is so pretty!

  • I need to try this style again on my freshly new chop. Thanks for this conditioning method.

  • how long have u been naptural? ive been naptural for 8 months and had the same problem with the twists on my sides as well....i dont have a denman but imma try this with a comb or another brush and see how it works for me!! btw..ur hair is super cute,i was just gonna ask on ur other vid ,wut wer u doin.lol..thnx

  • Thanks for the compliment, Ive been natural for 10 months, May 11th is my one year anniversary. I have a fake denman, I think I bought it at cvs for about $5 by goody. Let me know how this method works for you:-)

  • Beautiful! The top of your curls are visually defined too. I know what you mean about not being able to get second day hair. Thanks for the tip on twisting the sides. That should help.

  • I swear, all last week I was looking for videos about this method and came up empty. Now it is on fire!! I had to see your video since you're getting so many shout outs!! :) I ended up braiding my hair for bed so just a little nervous it might not come out right. We'll see.:)

  • Thanks for checking me out, let me know how it works for you!

  • Whoa...you got some awesome result. It looks like you did a coil out. Your hair is really beautiful.

  • Smiling:-)

  • I love all you ladies hair after using this method!!! I'm so excited to try this!! thanks Curlmebella!

  • Cant wait to see how it works on you Luvie please make a video or at least touch base and let me know how you like it:-)

  • wow- Im sorry it didnt work for you:-( I wonder if it was the conditioner? I had slight residue with hello hydration but none with pantene R&N and none with aussie moist. Its funny how different hair can be even when it looks similar. Thanks for checking out my video:-)

  • :( This didn't work for me at all. I feel like I wasted so much time drying and stuff. Just had to wash it out. my hair just looked like I put powder on it.

  • my hair is very short, can this be done really so short hair?

  • Wow! Your hair looks freaking amazing..I'm going to try this in the morning...I love your hair! Thanks for sharing this and God Bless.

  • Thank you- let me know how your hair turns out!:-)

  • OMG! Im so excited to try this! Your curls look amazing!!! I saw Terri's website but I didn't know if this works for shorter hair but I see it works just as well!!! Hopefully this means no more $25 gel...ha ha

  • Let me know how it turns out

  • I left it in. With the smoothing it basically disappears into your hair, very little residue. Let me know how it works for you.

  • do you have to use leave in conditioner to do that or do it really not matter?

  • I just use a regular condish - last week herbal essence hello hydration, this week pantenes relaxed and natural condish.

  • Have you tried this by finger combing the conditioner through? Also do you find that you have to pin down each curly section you've done. Maybe my hair was too long but other areas got in the way as I was twisting.

  • I havent tried finger combing the condish through but I have heard about others that tried that with much success. I did pin my hair up in sections and smoothed the condish thru section by section starting in the back. Let me know how it turned out for you:-)

  • OOoohh wow! No frizz?? Thanks so much for explaining b/c the links/website doesn't work. I will def try this method tonight!

  • i had the same great results...i love this method so much!

  • Yay!!!! Im so glad it worked for you too! Isnt it great not using gel? Plus it makes the hair look juicier and shiny/sheenier instead of jeri curl ish, if you know what I mean. Yay:-)

  • yes i know what you mean....i agree...over the days, my hair jus softens up so nicely...everybody was asking me what did I do to my hair when I tried this method...i got such a positive response from people.

  • Its funny you say that because I got a lot more compliments this week than usual. Im in sales so I see people every day - and alot of my clients were like "your hair is so cute" it made me feel great. You know when I was relaxed it didnt have the same effect - to get compliments on the real hair growing out of my head is the bomb!

  • I'm going to try it:-) Thanks for subscribing by the way.

    XOXO

    A.C

  • hmm.... interesting... Ill have to try this method

  • thanks for the shout-out!! i cant remember names for sht either :)

this method IS absolutely amazing - im on month 2 and going strong (in my towel as we speak)

i have way too much hair to brush in but makes sense for twas....whoo hoo....coily hair ROCKS!

    looking good sis, looking good!!!

  • That's a really interesting technique. I did a similar technique on my hair when it was shorter. Maybe I'll try it again (it might take me a long time).

Your hair is growing like crazy!

  • Ur hair is really cute... i was saying that to myself even before you got into specifics... I love that look on ya.... :-)

  • Thanks girl

  • I am really excited about this too! I can't believe you didn't have to twist your hair all over to get it like this. Amazing! It sound a bit like what the other women say they do with those curling custards but this would be less expensive and not require blowdrying. Do you think this can be done with a comb instead of a Denman brush?

  • Thank you:-) I dont know about the comb, I only used the denman, but I guess anything that smoothes your hair for you would work.

  • JUS... BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you for sharing. You did a great job. I'll try this out this weekend. Does it matter which way you shape the hair? for instance if you want to have side part can you do that first, or after you do the curls?

  • I do it first, I curl it in the pattern that I want it in.

  • Curlmebella, do you know if the sista on thickandcurly site is here on youtube? If so, do you know her channel? I'd love to view it. I have visited her site b4 & loved it; but, I didn't realize that she wasn't rinsing out the condish! Great dialogue there abt how curls behave, history of her hair & resource links.

  • Curlmebella, I tried this tdy b4 going to work (used dryer) & love it! I used Organix Coconut Milk condish mixed with Essential Balms Liquid Balm (jojoba oil, honey, etc.) since the Organix was never rich enough for my hair.

This method makes so much sense! We condish & then rinse out nutrients that we are just going to reapply when we put in leave-ins, hair lotions, butters, etc. Duhh ... why didn't I think of this? LOL.

  • Your hair is beautiful!!!! God bless

  • THAT'S third day hair!? GET OUT! Girl, it is looking DY-NO-MITE!!! lol ;)

WOW! Never heard of this method! And yes... we CAN see the definition!

Thank you so much for sharing this. And I, too, and curious as to how long this process took.

  • Hey girl, thanks for the compliments:-) It took about an hour maybe an hour and a half - I was watching tv in front of a mirror and didnt pay close attention. I know it wasnt quite as grueling as puting in twists

  • Curlmebella ... you look gorgeous. You thought we couldn't see your curl definition ... I see each & every curl ... amazing! I know heads are turning ... it's stunning. Thanks for sharing!

This technique reminds me of the HairRules vids. The owner talks about going with the flow of our natural curl clusters when caring for hair. I believe she has a vid on the importance of cutting based on how her client's natural curls cluster & fall together.

  • :-)Ill have to check out hair rules, thanks

  • btw - your hair looks absolutely fabulous!!!!

  • Thank you.

  • so glad it worked for you. thanks so much for this video. i'm still perfecting. i cheated on the smoothing each individual curl part. how long did it take you?

  • Thanks for posting a video on it - I tried it when my hair was shorter and cheated on the smoothing part too:-0 I was crazy about it then, but I think my hair was just too short. It took about 1-2hrs, I was watching tv and didnt time it. I remember it didnt take as long as I thought it would.

  • i cheated again today. : ) do you know how many individual curls i have on my head. i swear there must be millions. hahaha

  • I know its a drag.lol how did it turn out, did you like it?

  • i do like, but i bet i would like even better if i took the time to do the smoothing.

  • Amazing! This is such good information. Once I have some hair I'll try this :). You look great!

  • Thank you very much.

  • I am going to try this. Your hair, OMG, it is beautiful Ms. Curlmebella,.

  • :-)Thanks

  • You hair looks fab-bu. I will have to try this on my next co-wash day. Thanks.

  • Let me know how it works for you!

  • curlmebella... GREAT VIDEO!!! The only thing I worry bout is the shrinkage, that's y I feel I have to use gel... to weigh my hair down and elongate my curls. I may try this method, but I think this method would work great for those folks with your length hair, but your hair is growing out beautifully I must say. What is your length goal? Thanks again for doing this vid... Like I said, I will try it next time I wash my hair. Ima save this as a fav.

  • Thanks Shida- my length goal is bra strap level while curly so I have a ways to go.lol In terms of the condish only method, its actually for longer length hair so Im just suprised and thrilled that it actually worked for me. The woman who created this technique - I posted her web add on the side has butt length hair, so you may want to try it. Its not for everyone I guess but I just love only having condish in my hair. Thanks for watching!

  • it really looks great.

  • Thanks wagechi

  • Hmmmm..I wonder if this will work for me?? Your hair looks AMAZING!!!! I was tryna watch JAH's vid, but it was too low and I got impatient..lol I will go back and watch again. Okay, so did you get any residue after leaving the condish on??

  • No actually between the brushing with the denman and the smoothing it disapears. I may have used a little much because it made my hair stiff, but not as stiff as it usually is because of gel. Thanks for watching!

  • Wow girl your hair is gorgeous!!! I am loving this look on you and your texture is so beautiful :). I will have to try that!! I hate gels and that seems to be the only way i know to define my curls. So i just let the conditioner dry in there and nothing else?!?! That is awesome and i am going to try it and pray i get the same results you got! Sounds so simple! Would this work with just a water and veg glycerin spritz after applying the conditioner? Your curls are so pretty :)!!

  • Thank you! Thats exactly why I wanted to try this, because I hate gel too. Yeah thats all you do. I dont know about the glycerin water spritz but you wash and detangle and then put in a load of condish and then denman and seperate the hair curl by curl and let air dry - thats it! sounds simple and it is:-) I love it, let me know how it works for you.
