  • fuckin amazing!!!

  • @darkestdragon

Does that make you an American favorite dog? Cultvated Chinese peioke do not talk like this!

  • @david1234lee all i am saying is that this er hu performance is amazing. This has nothing to do with being cultured. so you are the dog.

  • Yes I can see Tom & Jerry running around that's funny

  • This was realy good!!! I wish I can play like that..

  • lo mas bonito q e victo en mi vida

  • I find er hu easier to play than violin. Violin's giving me a really hard time. T___T

  • sound like violin :D

  • her erhu reminds me tom and jerry chasing around! also it reminds me of old disney classic chasing scene..hehe!

  • anyone know the name of this or what it's from,Carmen's _______Thank you

  • @kuran97 you may have a gifted of learning erhu. That's what I suffer from learning erhu.I think lots of people including some performer can't control their pitch especially play violin piece by erhu.

  • erhu's pitch is so hard to control :( and the volume on high pitch

  • i thought that people used ER HU to play calm songs until seeing this video.....AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • So much passion, I am enthralled to listne to this all day long ;)

  • Bravo !

  • i picture Tom and Jerry running around after each other trying to hit the other with a frying pan when hearing this! awesome talent

  • omg this is awsome :D its actually the first time i saw someone playing carmen with erhu~

  • Why people only could appreciate western music? Chinese music is beautiful, but many people could not appreciate it. May be they judge Chinese culture using political view (you know that many peoples around this world hate communism) . I think that is NOT FAIR.

  • wow shes really good but the way she plays it is kinda like shes having tantrum

  • 像卡门咩

  • insane dps。。。。。

  • @atezai also great micro...

  • 素晴らしすぎる・・・としか言えないくらい素晴らしい演奏です。

  • sorry but it was a fail....

  • wow

  • i really admire musician playing fretless instrument.

  • that is crazy good

  • It's soooo crazy!!!

    God, great combination :)

  • is this japaneese classic music?

  • @morroida9966 no lol its a Chinese instrument and its not classic.. well Chinese that is its some kinda European

  • @SpoonyInfidel i agree, she should take a violin. what a shame

  • @BlueMoonLightDreams meh you can produce more sounds with the erhu i think and the erhu is more unique than the violin.. i wish i learned erhu rather than violin lol

  • @SpoonyInfidel i am not going to be cynical about how it sounds, it sounds good, but it just is not right, that instrument is a historical piece of china, and to play classical (which i like also) with it feels wrong, even an insult to culture, its like having a chinese restaurant and serving american food.

  • @BlueMoonLightDreams yeah i know what your saying but mabye she wanted to create a name for herself? playing western music on a classical chinese ehru.. you dont see that very often.. if at all lol

  • @SpoonyInfidel yeah, because it does not look right :D but anyway, i hope she understand what she is doing unless she is creating a bad name for herself.

  • @BlueMoonLightDreams Thats a narrow way to think of it. Think of the larger picture. Think of it as an international affair. The two cultures coming together, in a skillfully played beautiful song. It resembles international peace and understanding of art and culture. We should preserve our cultures and share them as well because that's how cultures originally developed anyway and hopefully will continue to do so.

  • @BlueMoonLightDreams I have an opinion much the same as yours. I promised myself once I learn how to play the erhu well, I would not play western classical music. I would create my own songs which would be oriental in theme and not really classical in the western sense and play Chinese folk music.

  • she looks like shes going to make the strings of the erhu spoil :O

  • амазинг

  • sound like Paganini ^ ^ very cool

  • ........

  • how many string does it have?

  • @karakan1453 two

  • @karakan1453 oops i meant 2 lol

  • Hey anyone know the tittle for this piece?

  • got no idea what she's playing ....but she's hot....nice body

  • Wow!! What an incredible performance with a two-string traditional Chinese instrument!!

  • @joseyow1 oh i m very glad to hear that.. hahahahah because i can play erhu also....haha

  • This is amazing given that an Erhu has only two strings.

  • wow breathless

  • Incredible!!!

  • more than excellent, I can say this is a perfect programmed machine, not human. perfectly working

  • Totally awesome. I have never heard the erhu played like this. She is obviously a master of the instrument. Great work. Thanks for sharing.

  • so much emotion that is kinda scary. but still amazing. the instrument itself is a physical feat by itself and she turns into something classical

  • a great musician!

  • BEAYTIFUL!!!

  • In American slang, 'sick' and 'fuck' are a compliment in this context. It's a strange thing with language, I'm sure this is confusing to a lot of viewers.

  • lovely

  • Fucking amazing

  • Holy fuck.

  • Great! What an excellent musician! She put her soul into it.

  • From the non-musical, non-musician point of view: this is at once impressive and reminds one of the other parallel between this instrument and the "fiddle." This instrument does "credible" bluegrass tunes as well as classical music.

Proving, I suppose, that music is truly cross-cultural.

  • She looks so into it!

  • She's the master, haha! ^^

  • I'd imagine a 2 stringed instrument would be harder, seeing as how you'd have to move your hands up and down rapidly. IMO, it's more awesome too.

  • whats harder to master

    this or violin..??

    just curious..^^

  • I really think it is about the same difficulty. In fact I believe all instruments are just as hard to "master", but some are just harder to initially learn!

  • ohhh..

    okay..^^

  • to matser, every instrument is just as hard.

but to pick up, id suggest the violin - i play them both...

  • wow

  • Great performance though the tuning could have been better. Sarasate's Fantasy is more suitable for violins; if you've heard it before on a violin you'll know what I mean. It makes full use of the violin's register, which is of course wider than the erhu's, and pizzicato as well. I would imagine the erhu's timbre being well suited for the slower parts of the Fantasy though.

  • 我的天啊~!

  • uuuhh....thats to hard....

i like erhu music, wich is more lovlier and slowlyer like this watch?v=6kmLxZkT6y8&feature ....

  • still one of my favourite erhu pieces here on youtube

  • I am amazed with how she touches the strings, does that require light touches only?

  • yes only the lightest touch is required to get a note, there is nor fretboard, so too hard and the pitch will bend. really hard to play this, shes brialliant

  • it's not really as hard as you think it is. the strings have quite a high level of tension, so it is actually quite difficult to push the string to the point that the pitch will bend.

  • but not too light though.. you hav to knw exactly how much pressure is needed to play. if not, it will affect th sound played. th amt of pressure you hav to exert depends on your erhu and th distance btwn th strings and th body of th erhu.

  • This is skill !!

  • wow muy bonito!!!!

  • incredible !

  • ezcellent work you sound lovely its great great great!

  • これはすごいwww

  • Certified Intergalactic!

  • Certified Intergalactic!

  • WOW

  • wonderful.

except that this is actually sarasate's carmen fantasy, not bizet's carmen.

  • damn my brother plays the violent like that too

  • The Erhu looks like a Thai "Saw" instument.

  • Bravo!

  • Brava!

  • Lovely!!!

  • wow..

  • so great <33

  • she is amazing

  • I wonder what Bizet would have thought if he ever saw this- years ago would he have even dared to imagine such a foreign instrument playing this wonderful piece? :D Well done!

  • sarasate :D

  • Absolutely fantastic playing. I love the erhu. What a virtuoso! Brava!!!

  • I know that virtuosos like to show off and stuff but the erhu wasn't meant to play this kind of music. What a dissapointment.

  • well i ilke the erhu but i think the violin fits better to this piece

  • it goes to show how versatile an erhu is.

  • Wow! This has to be one of the moxst difficult instruments to play, next to the theremin. I noticed the fingers just touch the strings, but like a slide steel, they don't press the strings on to a fingerboard. Amazing!

  • I don't mean to make light of an incredible performance, but i was waiting to see smoke. The Erhu reminds me of using a bow and two sticks to start a fire.

  • I have a very vivid imagination. Thank you for that! Now as well as appreciating an incredible performance I will be giggling uncontrollably!

  • BELLAvita9919. I like your "things that make me giggle" videos. I was giggling a bit myself.

  • wow! she's really good!!!!

  • wow! you really pushed the erhu to it's limits! amazing.

  • coisa linda.

  • emotional, she's professional

  • WOW! she has a lot of talent

  • Impresionante!!!!!

  • awesome!!

  • amazing..

  • welldone

  • Très bien!!!

  • 太好了,

  • this piece plays by using guitar is more suitable. However cant deny that her skill is good

  • never heard it with guitar. and i doubt it. is there a vid on here with guitar?

  • oh.. i thought instead of the piano. my bad.

  • Como se puede hacer esto en dos cuerdas solo. ¿Que me lo expliquen?

  • p.s. i know the pitch was'nt good, but i still like it, ha!

  • the sound which she played was so clearly, and the way we playing erhu is very different from violin, viola, or cello, of course double bass, i can play both viola and erhu so i know how much different it is.

there're only 2 strings on an erhu to support your fingers, unlike violin which has a finger board to support the weight and power of fingers; and your right hand must move "between" the 2 strings because the bow's hair is actually between them! her hand is amazing!!

  • If the bow's hair is between the 2 strings, is it rosined on both sides of the hair? How exactly does that work?

  • Yes, it is rosin on both sides. You move your wrist while alternating between the 2 strings.

  • Wow...just sweet...amazing

  • amusing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Exclamation marks are cruise control for awesome!!!!

  • I WANT Erhu instrument!!!! LOL

  • amazing. for some strange reason i was wondering if she was going to drop the instrument or throw it on accident or something.

  • Extraordinaire, prodigieuse et magnifique carmen ! ... à quand un concert sur Paris ?

  • i've only just discovered the amazing sounds of the erhu and i've only ever heard it played slowly and its beautiful. this is amazing! it's fiddlin'! but cooler than a fiddle. i wish i could play erhu. jeez. this woman is fantasitc!

  • she's like on fast forward! Damn fast...

  • Holy crap. That's amazing.

  • That's supposed to be an erhu?

She plays it so well it does not sound like one; ironic huh?

  • MUCH easier than the violin...but i play both ^ ^

  • where could i get a ehru?

  • Erhu Carmen is pretty crazy...

  • thatwas amazing encore encore!!!

  • Old men in Chinatown try to play the Erhu but they are so bad at it... when I see them performing in public while tourists walk by, it makes me angry because they are giving people a bad impression of the Erhu.

  • kuri you're a hater.

  • She's good but I wonder though, when she moves her hand in a circular motion in the fast parts affect how the music comes out. I read that the movement of their wrist and the pressure on the strings are vital when playing an erhu O:

  • Great, really awesome...

  • You are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, now that's what I call expression. I couldn't take my eyes off her. XD

  • 我愛聲音

  • that was interesting to watch...it was great.

  • she's playin that thing like she's in a heavy metal concert

  • well...as an violinist i gotta say that all those freakin' jerks of guitar players in heavy metal bands have copied the playing style...

but anyway...nearly every musician who loves music and his instrument and plays with passion acts like that...^^

  • yeah i know hehehe i jsut think its funny. Whenever i play guitar concentrated, i tend to push my face forward and when I play trombone, I subconciously bob my head to the beat lol. What if this woman doesn't realize her head is going all crazy?

  • most musicians don't^^

  • Kinda like how pianist tend to bang their head on upbeat songs xD I don't do that since I like playing sad and slow song but moving with the music is natural I guess :'D

  • dat's a roger! xD

  • I can't even play it that well on the violin!

  • I think violin is like metal, and erhu is more like a human voice. Both good.

  • pretty and talented.

    niiiiiiice :)

  • This is awesome, but I still prefer the sound of a classical violin.

  • I don't get it.

It sounds far different from a violin version but still kind of the same.

Maybe an erhu should have +1 string.

could yield to interesting results o_O

  • OK, that wouldn't work. xD

  • yes it could, you just would have to play the third string with the bamboo =)

  • Wow nice dynamics.

  • Sounds like Izzac Perlman playing this song on voilin...wow...great job you talented Chinese lady.

  • Imagine: two strings less than violin.

    Nice try, very nice.

  • erhu has longer neck so it can produce more notes than violin.

  • not rue since violin can stroke closer to the bridge.

  • though erhu has a longer neck, but it has only 2 strings while the violin has 4. hahaha! I guess it compensates each other. LOL!

wonder if it's really the case but just a fun thought

  • Hey wonder if you guys could tell me if one must have perfect pitch to play the Erhu and Violin.

  • omg..shes playing er hu like a violin!! thats so cool!

  • i plae the er hu t00..but she is far t00 better than mii ....

  • che classe e che eleganza!

  • OMFG she is insanely good!!!

  • ta flipa la china esta XD

  • even though i just saw it with my eyes, it's still hard to believe..jesus..

  • WHOA! MARVELOUS. I have never seen an erhu playing a piece that way. I've only heard the classical Chinese songs... yanno, that oriental, garden-tea-type of sounds. This sounds SO cool!!

  • this is sooooo awsome!!!! im a gud violinist, but she is sooooo better than me!!!
