Sorry, but I find entry of percussion parts in MuseScore very frustrating, by comparison with notation of other instruments. For your tutorial, please explain why you need to go to voice 2 to add the bass drum part but not for the snare drum part. MuseScore seems to have a mind of its own about voices when it comes to drum parts. Why not have a drum entry mode in MuseScore that assumes every new note clicked is intended to be added to existing patterns without any attempt at replacement?

I did what you said and it works just fine, but when I play it back, every note is VERY staccato. It doesn't sound as natural as the sound in the video. How do I fix this?

I want to write a piece that includes stomping, clapping ect. but i cant find the correct symbol anywhere!also what should do ifi want a note playing on top of the stomping? is there a solution?

@cutiepiepuffy Sorry for the delay - in the Instruments window (press i to open it) there are some body percussion options (stamp, clap, finger snap etc) in the Unpitched Percussion section. Choosing one will give you a single line percussion stave. You can put the second part on a separate stave and both staves can be read by one player.

@rikusjoh Sorry for the delay! You could do two things: 1. notate the two parts on two separate staves (ie. set up a snaredrum part and a woodblock part). Each will have its own single-line stave. The player can read both staves at once. 2. You could use the same stave for both instruments, but use separate voices (look up Voices in the online handbook). Keep the voices consistent and make sure that voice one stems always point up and voice 2 always point down. Option 1 probably the best though

@MuseScoreHowTo i tried what you said, but still it doesn't work. (option 2) I didn't use option 1 cause i dont want 2 separate staves. What i did was: make a new snaredrum and did edit 5 lines. I tried the different voices but it doesnt work. But yeah, its probiably my fault xD. (cant you make a vid of this kind of music notation?)

@StaticOnUrFrequency You have to click the measure, THEN press the "N" button. I just figured this out. The notes should appear. Hope this helps

@StaticOnUrFrequency When that happened to me, I had to select a bar in the instrument I wanted to enter notes into. It seemed to work after that.

How can I loop a drum pattern over and over again? I clicked on the repeat button but it doesnt work somehow. Im using V1.0

@mdinka The Repeat Bar sign will only *look* correct on the screen, or on a printed score. It doesn't playback anything. If you need your drum pattern to play throughout the score, I would suggest copy and pasting it into each bar.

@mdinka thx for the quick response. It'd be nice though if one could really loop over the beat. For instance I'm experimenting with a clave beat and a merengue pattern an I need to know how this sounds and gonna feel. Pasting would'n help I'd like to listen to the whole beat for like a minute or longer that would mean a lot of copying pasting of bars. Maybe in the next version of MS? cheers.

This really doesn't help at all with that crappy program of yours. If I weren't ordered to use it by my teacher, I'd use Final Notepad for sure

@deadkennedynow "ordered to use it by my teacher". LoL. Man, if you or someone is paying this teacher you should be able to decide what you want to use. If there's another program out there you like, then get it. Teachers will suggest a lot of things... I've learned that from experience. But you don't have to get or do everything they say. You should follow along with what material he/she gives you... but when it comes to stuff like purchasing things, you do have a choice.
