Salvia was not made illegal like other psychedelics such as LSD because it is an atypical psychedelic which means it didn't fit the criteria.
Now, as to why as a whole... You must look at WHY marijuana is illegal in the first place.

Either way you think, if u post that drugs are fine or whatever your only fooling yourself and that wont last for long. drugs take something away from you. You may not notice at first because it doesn't happen in a day, but by the time you do it may be too late. And yes, once I thought drugs were amazing, now i would not take them if u payed me. I would agree, insofar as they have died due to adulterants or contamination, which is even more reason to make things like that legal, so that there would be a larger push to create a less dangerous product. Even if that were the case, and they died from overdose, it's all the more reason to legalize. Keeping it illegal keeps it underground, in the hands of people who don't care about harming others, its like putting a serial killer in charge of a fortune 500, rich or not, he doesn't change.

So then, is that in any way unlike a death due to drunk driving? IF you would agree to that, then I would be right in saying that there has never been a recorded case of psilocybin death. Ask a doctor if he considers a drunk driving fatality to be of a medical nature, he will tell you it's not. The drug didn't kill the person, the user killed themselves because of their poor choice. I knew a girl that got caught in a pool cover while on acid. It was her own fault for wandering into a yard.

And I too have hurt myself while on many a mind altering substance, but it was because I wasn't being smart. I spent 3 months deciding if I wanted to try LSD, because I didn't want to get brain bubbles or some crazy thing. Education is ALWAYS the key to harm prevention and keeping yourself safe and within right (laws not withstanding of course).

So, it would probably rest on the people, which is a scary thought for those who believe Nitzsche. Honestly I smoked meth all the way til my daughters birth. I tried to moderate and not overdo it. Well, she weighed 4pds 15 ozs. I in return had preclamsia and my body was to messed up to give natural birth. I had headaches and body aches. Since the birth I've felt better, but I never liked risking my daughter and my life for what????
