1,200? I'd send 80,000 - 150,000 troops. I'd probably commit 400,000 troops to year round ops on the southern border alone, to allow for rotations due to shifts, transportation, maintenance, support, administration, inspections, schools/training, dental, medical, discipline, vacations, etc.
